After less than one year of operation, the battery no longer holds a charge. The device will not operate with the rear camera anymore. The phone application has been nothing but a buggy mess with connection problems. No refund outside of 30 days. Lesson learned.

My only complaint about this dash cam is the battery. It is under warranty for 6 months, but it won’t make it. I tried modifying my cams to accept an external battery, but I smoked one of them by my own stupidity. I will still but another one since the mod was a succes on the other, and I know what my to do if I face this issue with batteries in the future.

i am very disappoint in this camera. I purchase this camera in Sept of 22 and i had to reset a couple, no big deal , I had to replace the tape 2 times because it won’t stick to the windshield, my major problem is for 3 months it did not record anything on the card it shows on the screens it is but it wasn’t and know i don’t have the proof I needed for the bogus ticket i received. Also i never could get the app to work

Few products have made me as frustrated as this dash cam. When I bought this 622GW it was the best on the market, but within two weeks the suction cup mount failed due to the rubber ripping towards the center. I switched to the supplied adhesive mount which has worked for quite a while most likely due to intensively cleaning the spot before attaching, but does seem solid so that’s great. The ball and socket of the mount are way too weak to keep the cam straight and i have to adjust after any minor bump.
The video quality day/night I’m very happy with. I like the features (at least the idea of them considering they hardly ever work).
The impact sensor in even the most robust setting is incredibly sensitive and you’ll lock a recording ever five feet due to hitting a grain of sand on the road.
Screen delaminated within a couple months.
My biggest complaint is the absolute train wreck of the app and the constant issues with connecting. Connect and the cam immediately shuts off. Try to download your files, shuts off. Delete connections, reset cam, reset phone, still fails. Switch sd cards, still fails. The amount of time I’ve wasted on this poorly engineered piece of excrement is maddening and I’ve considered sending Nextbase an invoice for my wasted time.
“Reset pairing on cam and device then reconnect.” To hell with you, maybe make a product that works?
I thought I was buying the best, but it’s apparent I was donating to another unfinished product that drained my wallet and my sanity.

The camera by itself is great. The adhesive that sticks to your windshield is awful. I work from home, so most days, my car is parked in the garage, where it’s protected from the sunlight. Last week it was around 95 degrees outside, and I had to go to the office. When I came back to my car around noon, the camera had fallen off the windshield due to the heat. I tried sticking it back, and it kept falling off, making my camera useless. The adhesive came off the plastic camera holder but stayed on my windshield. It’s a $600 camera, and it’s major flaw is a 10-cent sticker. I had the camera for less than a year.

Do not buy. This unit freezes, Next, the compartment camera doesn’t have a night mod. Video comes out dark at night. Also, the tape used for hanging on your window fails. Finally, the screensaver jumps form camera view to screensaver.

I bought this camera along with the rear facing unit direct from Nextbase when it was introduced. The footage was clear and the app worked well until the one time that I needed it. I was rear ended at a light and the camera recorded none of it. An hour of blank time in between the other videos. For the money this costs, don’t waste your time

This is my 4th dash cam, but my first with Nextbase. The detail on this camera is fantastic. So far, no issues. Highly recommend this camera. Would love to see this for about $50-$100 cheaper, but for now, the price was worth the quality of the video it puts out.

I had really high hopes for this camera, but unfortunately I have to give it one star. I would love to discuss all the cameras features and video quality, but unfortunately mine didn’t work correctly. After a few months of working it would start to freeze and would not record more than about 5 minutes of footage, and it would just sit there with a black screen and be completely unresponsive. Looking online, this seems to be a very common issue with this model and Nextbase does not seem to take responsibility and just resorts to blaming third party SD cards. My SD card is working fine in other cameras. Thankfully I had the Best Buy protection plan, but without it I would have been nearly $500 out for a new dash camera. Because of its unreliability, I simply cannot recommend this camera. Imagine if somebody crashed into you and then they started saying that it was your fault, and you go to pull up your dashcam footage just to find out that it wasn’t recording the whole time.
When it was working, it seemed to be a pretty decent camera. As with all dash cameras, video quality was pretty mediocre, but the built in polarizer filter helped a little bit. However, the lens stuck out quite a bit from the camera and would end up very close to the windshield in my car, which made the polarizer filter less effective. Video from the front camera was heavily compressed and not very clear, and any license plate further than about 100 feet was unreadable. Sadly, this is actually pretty good compared to other dash cameras, but in the grand scheme of things it’s still pretty bad. Rear video quality was horrible. It was very grainy and did not have a lot of detail. I would love to show you any pictures and videos, but I don’t have any because I reformatted my SD card multiple times in an attempt to get it to work again and never saved any footage.
The camera attached magnetically to the windshield mount, but the mounting system made reattaching the camera without adjusting it out of alignment very difficult. The optional rear cameras mounting system was horrible. You just get a little plastic piece that sticks to your windshield and the camera simply sticks on magnetically and is held in by friction. I found that over time the camera would slowly turn to one side and I had to constantly readjust it. The camera had a decent amount of features. It had rear camera compatibility, or you could also get a cabin camera instead. It had GPS. It had a basic parking mode. And had an app through which you can download the videos to your phone, get a live view or change camera settings. It also had Alexa integration, although I never used it.
Parking mode worked OK. It ran off the camera’s battery, but I never managed to figure out how long it would run for. It was your standard parking mode where the camera detects a short clip after it detects an impact.

The app doesn’t work as it should, will not display live view or maps even though it claims it is connected. I have gone through all phone settings to make it easy to connect to, but most of the features are unavailable, is it because the app is a UK app and a US phone Samsung Galaxy S21 Max. The Literature explaining features and how to set up are vague. Polarizer setting is impossible with the small screen thus might be better without it.

I have 3 Nextbase 622GW dash cams and they are excellent. I ran into problems with interrupted recording and the screen freezing and traced the problems to the SD card, so I posted the following review under the Nextbase SD card section, but I am including it here so others can learn from my history.
I have a Nextbase 622GW dash cam and have been using a SanDisk Extreme Plus U3 SD card. I can’t remember the cost difference between the Nextbase SD card but I remember the SanDisk being significantly less expensive. I noticed the 622GW not always recording and the screen would become unresponsive at times. I tried resetting the camera and reformatting the SD card but nothing helped until I bought the Nextbase card. I was tempted to buy something with the same specifications, but since Nextbase makes the card I went with it. I removed the SanDisk SD card, unplugged the rear camera, pressed reset on the bottom of the camera, and then inserted the Nextbase SD card and the problems resolved. In this case, I think the extra cost is worth it; you may try finding a less expensive card with the Nextbase required specifications but I decided to skip any further trial and error.

clunky app and does not record continuous video. large gaps in recordings. car totaled last night and have video from a half hour before and then only videos it saved are from after the accident car is just sitting in the road. my old 50$ dashcam at least recorded continuous video and the g sensor worked to save any collisions. this one cannot do either.

So much potential, but the 2x I’ve wanted it to work so far it has failed me…
Design is great, fits nicely in my windshield. – Picture quality is fantastic, nicely packaged, but… – The Nextbase button (used to mark videos) is too close or somehow messes with the recording. So I’ve attempted to press it 2x when an incident happens, and it seems I must have pressed the record button which stops recording? – I managed to lose the very video I really wanted? – Let’s lose the stop/start recording button (make it optional) so it ALWAYS records no matter what short of holding the power button or doing some press and slide type movement. – I’m going to have to re-mount it somewhere else so I can see if it is actually recording.
The mount is a bit too loose for the button press – Should be able to press buttons without repositioning the camera each time.
The app is glitchy. – SLOW and occasionally you have to re-open it to see the latest set of videos. – Lose the preview, or make it work better. – It also fights with Wireless Android Auto – so I have to shutdown my vehicle to do anything with the camera. – There has to be a better way. – Ideally I’d love it if it could link to Google/OneDrive and automatically upload videos (tagged, or everything, or whatever I want) when I’m near my home WiFi network.
There’s definitely room for improvement, but as of now I don’t think I would buy this one again.

The software sucks. The App won’t open, then when it does, it can’t find the videos on the camera. I can play them on the camera, but the app can’t find them.
Also it overheats quite badly and I had to take it out of the car for 4 months because it couldn’t handle the Arizona heat.
I bought this dashcam, the rear view cam, the interior cam, and paid Best Buy to install. It wasn’t cheap. Note you cannot use the interior rear camera for the cabin and the rear camera out the back. You can only have one or the other plugged in. Despite the reasonably good video quality, this wasn’t worth the price. It was the most expensive camera they had, I expected top notch performance. You cannot make out license plates with this camera despite the good video quality. This should be simple to use. I’m incredibly disappointed it’s just so difficult.
