EricM –
Poor connections, slow speed, made my Wi-Fi slower
MaxAudio –
Easy to setup and excelent connection. No distortion so far
Mterrazas13 –
I bought this to extend my wifi signal around the house and it works great and easy to setup

In good conscience, I can’t give this extender a 1-star rating even though that’s what it was worth to me. I purchased it because I had very successfully used previous versions of it (EX8000 or whatever other name they called it). I expected this model to be even better, and I think it definitely has that potential.
However, one very essential feature that I required of this model, just as provided with the EX8000, was the ability to create a guest network. Nix. Doesn’t have it. Perhaps never will. Why in tarnation would Netgear simply remove (with no findable information of that fact) a feature they (and every other router/AP/extender manufacturer) provide in all sorts of other networking products?
So, I tried contacting Netgear to see if, just maybe, they intended to provide a firmware update that would fix this omission. That turned out to be a totally hopeless endeavor. Their email tech support was just plain abominable. I asked that single, very simple one-sentence question. No one would believe the different responses I got, all of which failed to even approach a simple answer. I gave up and returned it.
Bottom line, I’ve liked and used many Netgear products for many years. This experience has left me wondering if I’ll bother trying anything new of theirs in the future. Again, I think this extender has great potential, but if they make decisions to remove features without notice and then provide just plain awful tech support, why would anyone buy it. Now, if you have no need for using it to provide a guest network, maybe you won’t mind paying the price that I had to look past to allow myself to purchase it.
Good luck!

Best choice I made so far because the wifi range and security are tight.
Br70 –
Not worth it at all – buy a mesh wifi setup. Never spending money on NetGear products again.

I had high hopes for the Nighthawk, boy was I let down. I upgraded from an older Orbi system that was consistently giving me 900 download. Upgraded my xFinity to 1.2 gig and needed to upgrade router/wifi. No matter what I do I can’t get more than 400. You have got to be kidding me, and the App is horrible, constantly crashes or can’t find the router, speed test crashes app. Overall disgusted with the Nighthawk platform. Will be returning to BB. Just ordered the AX6000 Orbi system and hope things fair better. As for the Extender I spent all this time renaming my devices with the wifi/router, when I connected my extender it deleted all the names I had and replaced with blanks, so now I had to look at IP addresses and figure out what was what AGAIN. Can’t say enough bad things to be honest.

Maybe it just didn’t fit my needs. Couldn’t get any speed over 200 MBPS. So it works but not good enough. Not sure why this carries the Nighthawk name. The setup just wasted 6 hours of my afternoon. Because none of the instructions provided make any sense. This is no better than the cheap ones from amazon. No ability to extend multiple ssids even if you have a nighthawk router. It may work well for the simplest of home applications but if you are advanced leave it alone cause you know better
user249210 –
Works well did not have internet connection in back yard. With this product now have good connection. About an acre
VeryPleasedWithWAP –
Excellent product, easy install, solid unit. Great range and reception.
jconingford –
Very unreliable. Device doesn’t stay connected to extener, and extender doesn’t stay connected
to router. Not worth the expense at any price. Security and support beyond 90-days require separate paid subscriptions.
PaoloC –
Definitely does the job. To be honest, thought it would dramatically increase range, but it pushed out the signal just to where it needed to be. Granted maybe it’s the layout of my house, and the walls just aren’t forgiving, but just be sure to keep obstructions clear from its immediate vicinity. Keeping it on an open area shelf definitely helps stretch out the range and strength a bit more.
EliseoA –
Great product, haven’t dropped signal and speed it amazing for wifi.
Pss829 –
Excellent product. Delivers as advertised adding wifi access over a large area.
Techie –
Had a dead spot in my wireless signal that I tried many other devices to fix. This one did the job and now my signal is consistent throughout. Very easy setup via my smartphone and their app. No issues during the first couple weeks of use. Works as advertised with my Nighthawk gaming router.
Jonathan12345 –
Second extender, nice user interface. Recommend using 2GHz for connection to RX80 + 5 GHz local to extender. Internet is fine around Long 2000 sq house.
Apshiny –
This works great and cover the dead spot in our house.
JohnL –
Looking good …but for longtime we need to get help and most times we need to reset it .
ARinHawaii –
No problems installing this extender! Just follow the instructions from the app and I receive great extended coverage and service!
EyalS –
Great and easy to use.
Took about 10 min to setup, works as advertised.
Trcmusic –
My home is very big and it helps me with my Wi-Fi and all of my rooms. It was great using the extender it looks up it very easily and I really enjoy it.
JohnH –
Very easy set up and helped get a stronger signal throughout the house.
Blurry –
This device is great! I bought it to extend my Wi-Fi into the garage and the signal is perfect. All my devices connect and the Ethernet ports are working efficiently.
KoltonSR –
Worked fine. Not really anything special though. Just get something cheaper
NancyC –
Seems to work fine, however it doesn’t seem to give a whole lot better speed

This boosts WifI around my house and even outside in my yard
KevinE –
Great extender, very reliable and has long range for extending the wi-fi.
Unknown –
Lightning speeds in uploads and downloads and to streaming to the max
Unktehila –
Actual speed achieved in connectivity with an AC1200 router was no better than not using the extender at all and connecting to the weaker WiFi signal from the base station router I was extending. Great to have wired client multiples from a unit like this, but sort of useless with anything not also a WiFi 6 router of blistering speed.
Ducky –
Excellent Wi-Fi extender for entire house coverage all the time 24 by 7!!Great value!!
Winslow503 –
This is easy to set up but I had a nighthawk modem router that broke so I ended up returning this as well. Seemed to work well for the week I had it but I didn’t keep it long enough to give a great review.
EthanP –
Works as designed. Netgear makes exceptional devices that work Everytime.
Will buy again
ChrisC –
Works great. As advertised. Solved the deadspot issue in my bedroom.
AFvet1988 –
I have the alien mesh router setup. Plug and play works perfectly
SalmaA –
Gives great range! It was easy to set up and the signal is great too. Love it.
Satxdonkey –
I was previously getting 50 mbps on the outside patio wirelessly on my apple tv. I installed one of these and connected via Belkin cat6a ethernet from the extender to the apple tv and get at least 250 mbps now. They also boosted my phone speed wifi. So ive just purchased another for one end of the house as well
Truj –
Works as described. Easily meshes into existing network.
JamesF –
Does connect well and cant extended wifi far enough
StevenD –
Works like a champ! The extender is a huge improvement to my house’s lower level connectivity! I wish I had bought it sooner.
WilliamM –
Great as wired access point. Note though you can’t do this from the Quick Start Leaflet. Need to download the User Manual and follow instructions for Access Point Mode.
JayB –
Connected to my ps5 and pc through ethernet on this and it work wonders. My coax connection in my room is slower than my living room connection. So i have to leave the cable modem in the living for the fastest speeds. having this extender is amazing. Getting a solid 700-800 mbps
Carla –
My son installed ours and it fixed the issues of not reaching the wifi due to walls or distance. I’m able to watch tv in my backporch now.
slmnsam –
We have a top of the line router but still had some issues in one area of our home. This extender solved the issue to where speeds were equal to being in front of the router where before we had lost significant signal.
Hoot –
This extender solved the spotty reception in certain areas of our home. Excellent product!
Janet –
Amazing wifi extender, I wish I would’ve bought this product sooner, definitely reaches throughout my home.
user506216 –
Provides good coverage. Setup was easy. Helps increase speed throughout.
DavidH –
Ive had this from about 8 months now, its easy to set up and just works, I wanted to extend and have constant 5ghz around the house and property, around 7500 SQFT total and its worked great in combination with the nighthawk router.
I Never have to log on and change settings or reset anything. Its been great, its just there and works
ReginaldG –
Had 2 of these and Never got them to work!! Technical support is a joke, very hard to communicate with them because they cannot understand English very well. They seem to wait on key words and try to assist from there . I was told twice the 2 devices was defective???
Gibbs –
Got this for maximum coverage in a large one-story building.
