Never was able to get this modem to work. I was in contact with the Netgear support and they had me changing different setting but still would not work. I contacted Xfinity, my IP and they tried sending different signals and still did not work so I returned it.

This modem is one of the few approved by Comcast/Xfinity if you do not want to use their equipment and also have a landline. I like Netgear equipment in general so was happy it was one of the choices. It was easy to setup following the included instructions although you do need to download the Xfinity and Netgear apps on your smartphone. Performance is better than expected and I am now getting over 900mbs download speed over a cat 5e cable. I also purchased the Netgear Nighthawk AX5 AX4200 Router when I upgrade to this modem.

Easy connection with our internet provider and provides a steady and clear connection to our router and landline. There are fewer u it that include voice connection service. I will note that, given the fewer options, the cost of this unit appears to be at a premium, although I have noticed sale prices routinely at the store level or through the manufacturer directly.

There was an internet outage in my area for several hours. When the provider turned the internet back on, this modem started flashing rapidly and would no longer connect. After some research, I found out that this is a known issue with these modems. Because I was a few weeks outside of the warranty, Netgear would not provide any service or repairs. Would not recommend.

The modem was great when it worked. It lasted 2 years and a couple months for me and then stopped working (wouldn’t even boot). This gave me a chance to better understand the Netgear warranty and support apparatus which is pretty useless. The online support is limited to 90 days – and you can’t even download the firmware to try and reset the modem using TFTP. In any event, given how expensive the product is, you need about 2.5 years to break even against just renting the modem from Comcast (and that doesn’t take into consideration the need to purchase a WiFi router on top of it). I would look to competitor products going forward.

Absolute utter garbage died after 2 months. Went from 934 Mbps to 212. Comcast measured 1500 Mbps into the modem. Netgear tech support tortured me for a month with the slowest emails on earth and finally decided to send me another piece of junk. They are horrible. Netgear should be sued putting out this trash. I took 4 hrs for Comcast to set it up…none of the “support” personal could seem to manage it. NIGHTMARE

Upgraded my modem because the amount of items using Wifi has increased to the point we’re it slowing down my internet speeds. I also didn’t want to spend the monthly rental fee from Xfinity. This was very easy to setup and switch over internet and voice from a Comcast rented cable modem. The changeover required contacting Comcast but this went fairly well. Don’t be afraid to make this change and you will save money in the long run.

Replaced comcast awful gateway. Easy set up. Was a comcast approved modem. ( they have a list on their website) combined with Orbi WiFi. Constant flawless internet was the result! FYI Comcast will tell you that if you don’t use their gateway you can’t use their wireless cable boxes because they will not update. I know someone that has used them for years with no problem. But getting comcast to put wireless cable boxes in their system for you could be a problem.

Don’t buy, it’s software is no longer supported (less than. 1 year after I bought it) and it is now experiencing a NetGear bug that prevents me from getting the speeds I am paying for on Xfinity. xfinity even sent me multiple emails with SUPPORTED modems and said that the NETGEAR issue will not be fixed for a couple months. What a joke and ripe off

Purchased 9/19/23 and like many other 1 star reviews, mine failed in 3 1/2 months. Lights started blinking fast and no internet connection. At least Netgear support line answered the phone quickly. They said it overheated and failed. That’s ridiculous in 2023 that the industry can’t make a widely used electronic product that overheats in 3 months and fails. Of approximately 350 reviews, 35 were 1 star and almost all were failure. That means approximately 10% of these fail. Netgear sent me another one but I feel the chances of it lasting years is low and the warranty will expire in one year. Then I’ll be stuck even though I bought the most expensive modem to avoid this very issue.
