Was excited after purchasing and setup. Setup was easy. Called Xfinity to add the modem on my account and it recognize the modem right away. After a few days, he download and upload speed was not what I expected. I have the 1200 mbps and I’m getting about 700-800 mbps tops. Idk, going to research again for a better modem.

I was looking for something that would have > 1GB port (this one has a 2.4GB port) and could support speeds > 1GB. This fit the bill, getting about 2.4GB out the back side. It’s a lot of money, but the number of devices that actually have a port that can support the claimed multi-gig speeds over a wired connection are few and far between.

CM2000 works with Optimum or Suddenlink in Austin TX. I have a 400 mb down / 40 mb up plan and it exceeds those figures. Provisioning was easy, the modem can be logged into & it’s been working flawlessly. It is an odd shape and puts off a little heat. Definitely not cost effective for my current needs nor is Doc 3.1 necessary today.

3 star rating cause I can’t use it to provide proper feedback. The modem sounds like it is decent and from what i can tell it probably would work well. I use Buckeye-broadband and this modem does not work on their network. It fails the provisioning. Buckeye tech said that they saw the CM2000 on the network and then another buckeye-tech said 100% it won’t work on their network. It didn’t work for me. Make sure you get confirmation from your ISP before purchasing. Netgear support was great but without Buckeye’s help there wasn’t much they could do. Hopefully I can sell it to someone that can use it.

I recommend the Nighthawk CM2000 when used with a mesh system, such as an Eero 6E which I’ve used with speed tests averaging 380-400 across a two story, 2400 sq.ft. house. The Nighthawk CM2000 modem is best when using a mesh system, since a router-modem will pose issues in signal conflicts of two competing routers. Terminology

I bought this item brand new, i tried setting it up from home with comcast and it would not work. I followed the directions and it didnt work. Then i spoke to netgear customer service (which was a nightmare and noone spoke english) then I had xinfinty send an agent to my house to set it up and they yold me the ethernet port on the device was faulty. It was a nightmare scenario from start to finish. I was not happy and purchased a different modem!

This is one of the best 3.1 DOCSIS Modem that could support up to 2.5GBPS internet service or maybe the only one modem in 2023. This Modem is better and more stable than Arris S33. I’m currently using with COX internet and is solid connection so far.
When you pair Netgear CM2000 with Orbit 970 Router on 1GB Cox internet service you will get maximum speed. (very expensive combo)

IMPORTANT: this is a modem and modem only. It doesn’t have a router, wifi or phone service. You will need another device for those functions like a Netgear Nighthawk RAX series wifi router if you want to stick with netgear.
as a cable modem it works just fine and fully takes advantage of my 1GB service, my provided by ISP modem was flaky from the start.
The gigabit Ethernet ports act as one through link aggregation. they do not function as a switch allowing you to connect all your devices through it. I knew this but forgot when i was setting it up and was running in circles for 30 minutes or so. All of the ports on the back are yellow which in consumer devices usually indicate this… no idea why I thought this… being an experienced network admin… i guess we all have moments 🙂
Put one ethernet from one of the ports into your router (sold separately) from there plug in your devices in to the router To take advantage of the other three ports you need a router/switch that supports link aggregation. This feature is only useful if you have internet and/or networks speeds over 1gb. It would’ve been nice just to have a single 2.5/5/10gb Ethernet port rather than four.
another nice plus is the dedicated power switch. Haven’t had to use it yet but nice having it there for when i do.

I did have to call my ISP but it’s real easy. It boots up so incredibly fast. No problems at all connecting to a 6e Mesh Wifi System. I didn’t want to pay the price, but it was worth it. Not even a hiccup out of this. It’s nice, compact, light, and can fit anywhere.
