    Compared to the Grey Xfinity modem:

    1) It’s slightly larger
    2) Setup is just as easy / no more difficult than grey modem
    3) Airflow seems a lot better with large vents on both sides
    4) It’s PSU is an external wall wart, not an internal one like the Grey modem 🙁
    5) Has many more lights on the front, cluing you into what it’s doing!
    6) Its web interface feels a bit more “sharp” and “technical”, as is the Motorola design aesthetic
    7) The iPhone app is functional, but not amazing. It has a neat graph feature to see what devices are using the most bandwidth
    8) Most of all, makes you feel great saving $15 a month!

    Bought this after going through 2 routers provided by Xfinity that was not connecting to the network and was running hot. Checked the necessary specs for gigabit internet and then hooked it up. Once connected, I have no issues connecting to internet, runs exactly as intended, even maximizing the gigabit speeds. Setup was easy until you call your provider to activate it. Highly recommend for those wanting to avoid equipment fees from providers.

    I replaced my old modem about 2 months ago as Xfinity told me to upgrade my modem to experience full speed at 1000mbps. They recommended this device. While I have not been beyond 700 mpbs, which is fine. But the internet connection has been either disconnected or offline and I have to reset the modem every 2-3 days. Motorolla customer service has not been very helpful either. Xfinity has no problems on their end. It’s a $400 device and now Im stuck. I gave it a chance and thought it will improve and now, there is no way I can return it. Stay away from it! Its been a bad experience!

    This is the worst Router i ever purchased. I have had nothing but trouble with it. I never make it more than 24 hours without having to unplug it so it can reboot.
    I am going to try and return it and rent one from xfinity.

    The setup was easy. I didn’t have to call Xfinity. I could enter the MAC address information online. The app is okay. The speed is good…. Not quite the 1GB speed, but pretty close

    Has worked perfectly since it was installed, no connection drops or issues. Speed is good, and stays connected to my 2.5ghz Ethernet port which other routers would not. WiFi signal is not great sat on my porch which my old router had no issues with but it’s strong enough to work reliably. Cheaper and more reliable than the Netgear equivalent

    I would NOT buy this again. Within a few weeks of using, I had to restart it 1-2x per week and then after a few more weeks it stopped working entirely.

    I purchased this to replace my Comcast router and have greater control over local settings. Ive had very good success thus far (it has been about 1 month since it was installed and no troubles other than a manual reboot. What drew me to this model was that it is a modem AND a router whereas some modems have multiple ethernet ports but are NOT setup as a router but instead are if you need your ISP to assign IPs to each individual port. Small but very important distinction. Also, this has the ability should I want to add VOIP. It is very fast, easy to setup and is a great replacement for my Comcast issued modem.

    This modem is useless and I have been unable to reach Motorola technical support for more than 2 months. There phone number 512 877 6466 puts you on hold for hours until you give up. The VA is not helpful. Motorola can you please give me a refund of my $400. This is a rip-off. I pay for Xfinity download speed of 1,000 mbps but only receive 124 mbps with this modem. I am extremely frustrated!!!

    Much better than our previous modem/router. Had to have the cable company service come out, since we were having trouble getting it set up. Come to find out the trouble was their fault. Even though we did everything right, they had not taken the old modem/router off service which kept blocking the new .

    I really did want to love this one. I purchased it and had everything setup fast. Then the next day and everyday after for a week it would kick off everything on the 2.4GHZ band. 5GHZ stayed consistent. It wasn’t distance that was the problem or the fault. I also reset the modem/ router once per day and that would work for an hour or two and then it would drop everything on the 2.4 band. Which subsequently was my home alarm system, and my kids Owlet. Two things we simply aren’t living without. I called my provider (Comcast) and they sent refresh signals and we had a tech change the line. Ended up have to go with a different brand and haven’t had a single issue since… very disappointed this one wouldn’t work.

    The product has been a headache since day 1. It’s been less than a month and Motorola and Xfinity aren’t able to provide support. This is an authorize modem for Xfinity users, but this modem isn’t compatible to wireless products that only operate on 2.4 Ghz. After several submitted tickets to Motorola the device not configured correctly.
    The phone line didn’t work for 5 days. The product could be successful if both companies could view each other network. This is something to think about, while cutting the cord.

    The only reason this product received one star from me is that I could not figure out how to give it zero stars. Don’t buy this router, it’s garbage. And I don’t usually say that about anything. After I set it up, it had to be rebooted once a day, every day. A very nice man from Motorola Tech Support got it working for me, but unfortunately only for a month. Since then, it has to be rebooted at least two times every day in order to keep working. It is constantly dropping the connection. If you buy this, you will curse it every day.

    Started out fine, but after a few weeks the internet connection now goes out constantly. We have to reset the modem at least once a day now. Motorola tech support is nearly non-existent. They havent responded to my ticket in weeks. They gave me an admin login to check my logs but the password doesnt work. Huge let down for the price. This brand isn’t what it used to be.

    First off I’ve purchased many modem/router combos in my time including Motorola. This one is utter garbage, the wifi coverage and reliability is terrible. It constantly drops my devices. The wifi range is subpar, worse than previous Motorola modem/router combos. Motorola support is useless. I initially returned this to Best Buy thinking I got a lemon but the new one was just as bad.

    I bought this product to replace an older Arris Surfboard. It was reviewed well. From the first day, it started dropping signals out. I worked with Motorola support and trouble shot for days. After many back and forth by email they finally admitted it was defective and replaced it with another one. Well, that one worked fine for about 2 weeks, but started doing the same thing with less frequency than the original one. Now, my phone won’t have internet if I move upstairs of a very small house. Every morning internet is out on my laptop and phone. I have to reboot it every mornng. I contacted support again, they opened a case number, mentioned their systems were down and never got back to me!! I have never had any such consistently dysfunctional experience with any other modem/router. And I have used many because my work needs it. DON’T BUY MOTOROLA – MT 8733 DOCSIS 3.1 MODEM/ROUTER!! TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE SUCH A FAILURE.

    I ended up getting it cheaper, but it worked great on Xfinity for about a year. The app and software left a lot to be desired, but I was getting the speeds that were advertised. I started having issues with the Wi-Fi as it would drop off randomly. After a series of factory resets, it’s gotten to the point where it’s just barely working. The ethernet ports still carry a consistent connection, but the WAN side just crapped out. I can’t even log into the modem without running into trouble if getting in at all. Motorola does make good products, more specifically their phones, but I no longer trust their networking products. Would not recommend especially for the price they are asking for it. Disappointing.

    I have a NETGEAR Nighthawk Cable Modem WiFi Router Combo with Voice C7100V, and this Motorola Modem combo was barely an upgrade. I would have it, but for some reason all of my Wifi devices would get disconnected after 3-12 hours and only rebooting the device would fix it. Motorola support is HORRIBLE. I returned it despite only getting store credit for it. It’s possible the device was defective, but I’ll never buy anything Motorola again.

    I will not buy again. Not worth the money. It constantly drops Wi-Fi. My alarm company calls everyday because my Wi-Fi has dropped. The app tells you that your device is offline and support is terrible.

    Purchased this at Best Buy on their recommendation. Took it home and installed it. It seemed OK except the internet light was flickering. At the time I thought this was OK, however, when I added my Arlo Hub I began to have a problem with it disconnecting. This went on for months, as I was not able to devote time to work on it and my internet speeds were OK, but the Arlo system still disconnects. I contacted Arlo and it is not Arlo’s system.
    I had Comcast come to my home twice and it is not a Comcast problem. I contacted someone at Motorola and they told me they new there was a problem with this modem and their website states it is unavailable. I went to the Fresno Best Buy and they told me not their problem my return date had pasted. So here I sit with a defected modem should not have sold me. If Motorola knew about the defect this modem they should have told Best Buy and all their retailers and they should have taken it off their shelfs. As far as Best Buy is concerned I will not buy anything from them. And never a Motorola product.
    Two modems that do not work right and no product support period! Now this site tells me I can upload photos, but when I try all I get is sorry.

    Terrible piece of equipment that drops devices for no apparent reason requiring a reset of the machine several times a week. Motorola customer service is non-existent in that they stopped responding to any emails to resolve my problems and their phone number never allowed you to speak to a human being.

    It will regularly drop the wifi connection to various devices and has to be rebooted to restore them. Didn’t pin this down until the return window closed and have had no success trying to contact Motorola support. Appear to have gone out of business so I’m stuck with a mrginally useful $400 device.

    Customer Support does not exist. I have a Motorola MT8733 Modem that stopped working after 5 months. There is no phone support, every time I call the “support phone number” a recording states there is no one to take my call and try again. I have emailed at least 12 times and received less than 5 responses. Each response takes 72 hours or I get an email saying the system is down. No phone support and useless email support for modem or networking issues. I will never buy another Motorola product again.

    The modem/router is outstanding. Flawless. The only issue is that I can’t use it with my Comcast internet (Xfinity), and I will explain why. After changing my failing modem/router provided by Xfinity, I received a usage notification about 3 weeks later that I had reached my data limit with them. As a business customer, I was confused by the message, believing I had unlimited internet usage on my plan. They explained to me that unlimited data and internet is only a part of my internet plan if I use their modem/router as a rental. While this will be an outstanding backup if my rented modem/router fails in the future, it is going to be a pretty paperweight until that time. No fault of Motorola, rather Comcast.

    Separately, I will say that this was extremely easy to set up and use, for the 3 weeks that I used it.

    After having it for 4 months it’s constantly dropping wifi randomly. I have to reconnect my phone and work laptop at least once a day. Very expensive for what it can’t do right. I’ve had to factory reset and set everything back up. DO NOT RECOMMEND BUYING THIS!

    Had Geeksquad set up. Still had to call comcast to activate and get landline working(hour on phone). 2.4 which I needed at times, would not connect even with password request. NO CUSTOMER support. Phone them? Message that not available. Live chat on APP? Sends you to an email format for support and then an email saying ALL SYSTEMS are down. Returned device.

    We have found the modem to work better then expected.
    So far all of our pc’s, laptops and phones have work without having interruptions or losing connection. The set up with Xfinity was very easy to do.
    I would recommend the Motorola modem, WIFI has work well throughout the house and even in my garage.
