Super fast cable modem with Wi-Fi. Easy setup with Comcast.
HankB –
I purchased this modem/router because it was a Motorola. I started having problems with it not broadcasting in both 2.4 n 5G. Suddenly, all of my devices that needed 2.4mhz could not communicate with the Motorola router. That’s when I realized that the device was only broadcasting wifi in 5G. I tried calling Motorola to no avail. I was told they no longer supported their routers and modems.

This was a great choice! Needed a new one & got the updated version of the old one we had since it worked so well before.
N1ck2039 –
Very pleased with this router. It gives me great download and upload speeds and the wifi signal reaches all the rooms in my condo. The management app also offers some useful features (e.g. alerting you if an unrecognized device appears on your network, providing breakdowns of data usage by device/and or profile and also some filtering/blocking abilities).
airdog –
Good wifi for use with cox. Dependable and like the features.
HalynaP –
Very easy to set up. Excellent performance.
I recommend this modem.
MayY –
The price is good which is only $249.99. However there is no Console Manager Setting up instruction. Not even the support website. I have to call Motorola to get the help.

Okay here is the story. I had an mg 7700 motorola which was flawless. I wanted a wifi 6 router/modem with all the bells and whistles so i decided to give the netgear cax30s a try. I hooked it up, and it worked fine for a little while. However, i come home from work the next day, and my google speaker in my bedroom was disconnected from wifi. So i connect it again, and pass it off as a glitch. The next night i come home, my bedroom speaker, and my spare bedroom speaker are disconnected. Okay something is not right. I didn’t feel like troubleshooting, so i returned said modem, and immediately ordered the mg 8702 motorola. I knew this would work fine as i had already owned the mg 7700. The motorola just works out of the box like it should unlike the netgear. I am sacrificing wifi 6, but oh well i will have to live with that for now. One negative thing about the Motorola though is the motosync app. It is pure garbage! I tried it a few times, and it kept erasing my settings that i had made through the modem portal on my desktop I like the speed test feature, and the fact that it tells you the speed of each device, but not at the expense of having to redo my settings everytime. my advice, don’t use the app, just use the configuration manager through the desktop.

Perfect for my house and a very good upgrade from my previous modem/router
JohnL –
Didn’t last 8 months. For this price On my way! Would have thought it would last a couple years. Bad product
Emery –
I really liked this modem. Mediacom, who was my Internet provider had issues they could not resolve, one was a bad modem. When I started using this modem, my Internet got more stable. I left Mediacom and returned the modem, but not because it was bad quality. I recommend this product.

We purchased a Motorola router in 2019, which still works. We replaced it 2022 simply on recommendation at the store to provide more speed. Exactly 1 yr 3 mos, the wifi no longer works. the manufacturer warranty is only for 1 yr, and Best buy is 15 days. Completely unaware of that. The only way to replace is to purchase another. I accessed the chat, and the agent stated “the store team will help you with replacement for you”. This router was just shy of $300, and they want me to purchase another one. Unbelievable. The one I bought was probably refurbished to begin with. I have purchased a ton of products from Best Buy over the years, including at least 7 TV’s. So Disappointed
ClearFriend –
Good quality product and was easy to install. Best Buy delivers at aim.
Kaleco –
It’s a great product. It was Xfinity compatible and easy to install.
Leos –
Works great. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rainbyrd23 –
Way better than my last unit. The speed and readability are great! Good buy!
ScottB –
Works. Easy to setup, been using for several months now no issues.
DwightRMI –
It accepts the best the internet service provider offers. If they weren’t wishee washy, it would be a blast.
Kristy77a –
Seems to be working fine – the signal penetrates throughout my 1,900 sqft house. A little bit overkill for my purposes but better something in reserve than something not strong enough.
user347574 –
Fits with my internet provider, faster speed, quick shipment, fair market price
EstmtdPrpht –
I am a IT network engineer and I want a fast stable home network that is reliable, It is why I get this
GeorgiM –
This is the best WiFi router, very fast and very good signal. I highly recommend it. Motorola is the best.
GaryH –
We bought this to help facilitate better wifi throughout our home. It has been awful. Dropping internet services regularly.
Keisha –
My mother in law was complaining her internet was spotty and so far so good this router did the trick! not only are her speeds faster but she also hasn’t complained that her many devices connected are having issues. So far a great buy
Owls –
Good product. It does not up space. Also the ease of setting up.
LCLC –
Excellent connectivity right out of the box (after setup with the ISP, of course).
Human –
Very reliable cable modem, as are most Motorola products. Free from distracting bells and whistles, it’s setup is simple and straightforward. Would buy again.
LadyC –
Xfinity set up quick but hard for Ring to find and connect.
CountCabula –
Needed an update modem/router combo and this was perfect.
CristianB –
This was an easy setup and works great by far! Plus the cost is affordable.
BrittanyM –
I wish I upgraded my modem/router years ago. This was an expensive upgrade for me at $250, but my wife and I both work from home and this has made a world of difference. I work in the basement, and she works upstairs with the TV on and I’m still maintaining over 500mbs (max Spectrum offers for my plan). Worth every penny. For reference, our house is approximately 3500sqft and I don’t need extenders or anything to get the speeds we are experiencing.
Kristina –
I bought this product more than a month ago, I bought it at Best Buy with the option to trade in old for new, they gave me a good discount for a new router. I am very satisfied with the purchase, everything works very well, it was easy to connect and activate, so I recommend this router
KevinA –
I thought I was doing pretty well with my NETGEAR Orbi CBR40 with two satellites until I decided to upgrade my cable Internet service from 400 Mbps to 1 Gbps and learned the hard way that the Orbi is DOCSIS 3.0 and I need a cable modem that supports DOCSIS 3.1 to get those speeds.
So, after a recommendation from a trusted friend who did some research for me, I chose the Motorola MG8702 cable modem. The setup was a little tricky but with patience and some instruction review, I was able to get it done to my satisfaction.
Now, my house is split level, about 2500 square feet. The cable modem is on one end of the house and I have a home office upstairs in about the middle. My office is hard wired with CAT6 cable and a switch capable of Gbps speeds which is required as CAT5 cable will disappoint you. My work and personal laptops are wired with Ethernet connections, both connected to peripherals with docking stations. I’m getting the speeds I’m paying for with those.
The Wi-Fi 6 is also improved, I enjoy download speeds of 500+ Mbps on my iPhone Xs near the modem, over 200 Mbps at the farthest point in the house away from the modem which is so much better than the average 45 Mbps I was getting with the Orbi nest system.
So far I am extremely happy with the Motorola and have already recommended it to some friends.
As always, do your own research before you buy and be sure you have all the infrastructure you need. If you do that and buy one of these, I have no doubt you will be as happy as I am.
MrMojo –
Decent upgrade for the MG-8702 cable modem router combo.
Supposedly, it states that it provides ‘up to’ 1Gb speed, but that really depends on your cable internet subscription with your provider.
It’s dual band.. 2.4 and 5, the latter is the fastest but limited range while the former is slowest but expanded range. Always choose 5 first for the speed.
The best speed always come with the ethernet cable to your computer than with wifi, which is always slower than the cable connection.
It’s pricey but sometimes goes on sale.
The wifi 6 cable modem routers are becoming more commonplace so this version will slowly become obsolete but is still good if you don’t ‘need’ wifi 6 which isn’t that much ‘faster’. If you need wifi 6, then you’ll need to upgrade your PC’s wireless card, if possible, as some desktop versions are soldered onto the motherboard. You’ll need a separate PCI(-E) wifi card for an upgrade.
IMPORTANT:
TURN OFF the band steering then reboot!
Most modem routers now combine the dual bands as One which is Terrible!
You’ll need to go into the Router’s settings to change:
Wi-Fi Privacy Settings -> Band Steering -> Disable!
Now you can name the dual bands separately like:
1. Wifiband2.4
2. Wifiband5
You can use the SAME password for both for simplicity sake or use separate ones, as that’s Your choice!
Jen736 –
Highly recommend. Easy set up, everything works smoothly and the app is super user friendly and well.
NunziP –
This was easy to set u and I have enjoyed the experience, much less expensive than renting from Comcast. This is the second one I have purchased in the last seven years.
LeoW –
I used to have a Motorola MG7550. 3 years of reliable service. It was a DOCSIS 3.0 so I retired it and confidently upgrade to a Motorola MG8702 with DOCSIS 3.1. I have seen a very good 800 MBPS download speed. I recomend the Motorola MG8702 with DOCSIS 3.1.
Electroman –
Does everything it promised! I couldn’t be more satisfied!
Benjamin –
We’ve been using this for over a year now – no complaints other than the price, although that’s only because I’m old enought to remember paying $14 for my first (much more basic) router in the early 1990’s.
Ash1 –
So far it works very well! Worth it for the price.
Quickdawg –
Works like a charm !!
Easy set up with Comcast.
WiFi connection is solid.
DavidD –
Upgraded my old modem/router as I thought I had an issue with my old router (I didn’t) turns out I had a bad Ethernet port on an nvr recorder. Anyway, my speed on this new one was almost 100 kbs faster on Comcast than the previous model. Pays for itself in just over a year over the Comcast rental one. (And faster!!)
Wolfie –
Promptly shipped/received. Super easy setup, quickly registered w/Spectrum on-line. Unit up and running in 10 min. My download speeds are 10x previous modem/router.
StevanD –
Easy to setup. Very fast modem, depending on traffic. Very fast router. The cable guy who set it up with xfinity was impressed with the specs and ease of connection. The app isn’t that bad either. Could use alot more controls after setup, like Netgear’s.
Billy –
great addition to any internet service on the market.
Manu77 –
I am having troubles logging into the Motorola control panel to reset the password. I logged in once and it locked me out saying ‘too many failed attempts’. I called their support phone number, and no support agents are available. I emailed them and it did not go through. Now my wireless is open to any nosy neighbors. This is a high security risk product as they are non-responsive. Stay away from Motorola.
Pharaoh –
I bought this in hope it will be able to accommodate the 1.2GB internet from Comcast, but it did not work. The modem worked very well, but the wifi was flawed, I believe.
user485267 –
Wifi connectivity is unstable and drops all the time.
Saminathan –
Works good. No complaints since started. Special App for the modem helps to check the working performance & internet speed. Where I can see only 50% of my plan speed. Needed some effort in setting up with my internet provider Xfinity.
KathryneH –
Great product does what it’s supposed to do and streams seamlessly.
