    Motorola Modems have always been solid for me in the past and on first impression this one works just fine getting me to the limit of what Spectrum can provide on their Gigabit connection plan.

    My only troubles were with Spectrum not noting my account properly that I was switching from Ultra to Gig plan and this required over half an hour on the phone to get a manager to make the changes correctly on the account.

    Died within 6 months of purchase. The modem no longer powers up, was always connected to a surge protector. Motorola’s customer support line is unreachable, just says all agents are unavailable and to call back later. This will be the last Motorola product I ever buy.

    Great modem. Works perfectly fine with Comcast and is compatible with the newest standards. Have had no issues with it since purchase. It’s advisable to change the default sign in/log in credentials as an extra layer of security for your home network. Also, don’t let your cable company tell you that you’re able to download new firmware for the router from the manufacturer, that is strictly the cable company’s responsibility and something you CANNOT do yourself.

    I bought this modem over a year ago. It worked for the first few months with no issues. Once winter came i thought my spectrum internet was going out almost every day. I had multiple techs come and check everything and nothing was wrong. Eventually i found out that almost everyday this modem was restarting itself, sometimes multiple times a day. I’m guessing that Spectrum updated something with their modem service which is why it doesn’t work properly. But anyway, I’ve been using the free spectrum modem for 2 weeks and no issues. Don’t bother buying this modem.

    Motorola has no Customer Service! This modem died after 1 year on a 2 year warranty and I’ve been trying to contact Motorola ever since email contact in regards to this issue ceased 3 weeks ago but have been getting no response except for the automated voice telling me that” no support people are available at this time, please call back later”! Stay away from Motorola products!

    I subscribe to an ISP that provides me with 1 gig and once I changed out my 3 year old modem for Motorola it was running good until the next day it kept losing the internet. I checked to see if I could update the software for the modem that was updated and I did not see an area in the admin area to access the function. Thought I would wait to see if Motorola would send an update after a could of days of dropping the internet and finally returned for the newest model of the Arris and it’s has not dropped since installing.

    Modem worked fine, while it worked. Motorola claims a two year warranty. Good luck finding someone at Motorola who will help you. All the published phone numbers and email addresses that I can find basically are not answered. Then I found a site to enter a claim and after inputting the information, I got a “our systems are down, we’ll get back to you soon” reply. That was three weeks ago.

    This is a good modem to use, but be aware that if you use Xfinity internet, there have been many documented instances where the modem will reset randomly. This is due to an issue with firmware updates between Comcast and Motorola. I had to replace my modem once under warranty due to the issue, but thankfully it isn’t an issue any more

    We did a ton of research to see what modem would work with our new speeds and help around the house. Ended up with this guy.

    The setup was super simple and had no issues the first day. The next day the internet started dropping every hour or so and required a modem reboot. We did this for a few days before ultimately returning it and going with the surfboard one compared. We haven’t had an issue with it at all!

    Designed and programmed my top engineers! When setting the “Acquire Downstream Channel”, this modem does not have to reboot, rather there’s a stable OS running with the firmware allowing the chipset to require, digitally, the set frequency, rapidly.

    Unit is stable, lots of data in the charts & reports making diagnostic efforts simpler. Manual lists what certain situations indicate for trouble, one can be more informed one calling their Internet service provider!

    Reliable and fast. This replaced an older Motorola 1Gbps modem that never gave more than 400 Mbps with an Xfinity 800 Mbps feed. The MB8611 gives speeds at 800+ Mbps with the same feed.

    Got this with my cable company over there modem and one year and couple months it is still going amazing! If you are having to buy a modem and have gig internet just get this .

    Purchased this cable modem in August 2021 for gigabit internet with Cox. It was a fast and reliable modem but unfortunately didn’t last as long as previous cable modems I’ve owned, just a little over 2 years. In November 2023, my internet started dropping out for brief periods of time several times a day. My ISP Cox recommended I purchase a new modem if the problem persisted. After a few more weeks of dealing with internet dropouts, I finally replaced it with a new Surfboard cable modem which resolved the dropout issue. I would expect cable modems to last at least 3 or 4 years.

    I realized that my existing modem was not providing me with all of the internet speeds that I was paying Comcast for. I purchased this modem and I noticed a difference in my downloads speeds immediately! Very easy to set up too!
    It is even recommended by Xfinity!

    If you live in an older house – with thick walls, you likely will need to buy your own modem and router. This is something I’ve had to do ever since wireless internet devices existed, as no matter which ISP you have, typically they give you (whether for free or for a monthly fee) a modem/router combo that will only work in small apartments or new homes with very thin walls.

    AND every few years you will need to update these devices.
    I bought this one in 2020 and still in 2024 it’s considered one of the top modems you can buy. When we all started working from home I found then that my system was a PROBLEM… In addition to this I also purchased a MESH router system – in 2020 I bought Deco M9 Plus but now upgraded to a more robust system. Thankfully I didn’t need to change THIS MODEM because the routers have the necessary speed 2.5GB Ethernet, that goes with the new routers I purchased this year.

    I’ve had this for 2 years and it’s still going strong. I did update my routers in 2024 from 5G to 6 + 6E routers. Working from home requires more robust communications.

    I also tend to switch ISP’s every couple of years to get the best price offers and (doing the math) to make it equal to what you save from NOT using the rented routers, you should look at what this costs in comparison to what the ISP charges you for renting their modem/routers.

    In my history of buying my own modems that usually works out to about the 2 year time when your contract ends and they raise your basic internet price (I’ve never had cable) – and with that – it’s perfect for when it’s time to make a switch.

    I’ve had no performance issues with this and recommend it for the compatible ISP you may have!

    We use three VOIP landline phones – for 2 family members PLUS a third one for a home office phone.

    Additionally our family has a few smart TVs, we use smart home devices to control outside lights and an outdoor security camera system. Our routers are both ethernet connected, wireless and use powerline connectivity too.

    This modem – the connection with the ISP has to be good enough, and it handles it all!

    HIGHLY recommended.

    The only reason I may replace it is when it’s time to change ISP providers as in our area of the two choices, Xfinity and FIOS, only the first one is compatible with this modem. If I can negotiate the right price with the ISP provider, I’ll stick with this one and hope that I can do that when the time comes. This has been great and I really don’t want to change if I can avoid it.

    I am now on my second replacement and the signal from this modem to my EERO WiFi router continues to drop at least once a day! I regret my purchase.
