    The install tech told me that the antenna already in my car wasn’t compatible with the radio I bought. So that meant if I wanted to listen to the over the air radio, I had to buy it.

    Works perfectly and is needed for aftermarket head unit installations. The antenna is amplified and needs a 12v line running to it or your reception will be lousy.
