Dovizioso –
Perfect size for an UltraWide monitor. The 3840 x 1600 gives it a taller size compared to other UltraWides. HDR can be better but I turn it off and plays smooth no tearing and excellent colors.
Groot –
I was amazed by this monitor. Got it at open box price and it came in excellent condition. Nice picture and very easy setup. The lights in the back are nice but I don’t really use them that much. Normal price is a bit hefty though.

This panel is unreal. In terms of a 144hz (and higher) capable ultrawide at 1440p, this monitor is a beautiful, uncompromising beast…
Once you get a good panel without defects.
Here’s the rub. As I’m writing this, I will be returning my 2nd exchange of this monitor due to dead pixels. Just one dead pixel both times, but for the price you’re paying, you better use Best Buy’s return policy to ensure you get a solid panel.
moxie89 –
was amazed on the quailed of the monitor. got mine when it was on sale at costco thou. but the monitor is awesome. 8 bit 144hz-160hz, 10 bit 120hz. my 5700 xt nitro+ pushes strong and runs kinda hot running this. would recommend something strong 3080 and up or 6800 and up to get over 100 fps on aaa games. get 50-90 fps on my 5700 xt hoping to upgrade my gpu soon
TrueRed –
Great display, with easy-to-use LG control center software. The price could be lower, as it puts this product our of reach for many gamers.

The monitor is very nice. I love the size. The two things i dislike are the whites look pink to me. Ive tried everything to change this but not much luck. More pink on the bottom left side of monitor. The other is the price. Is it worth $1600. Not really. Mine came with a small scratch on bottom screen. Not real noticeable but still a scratch. Other than that looked new.

This is a great IPS screen for great viewing angles and color accuracy. High refresh rate but would recommend keeping it at 160hz. Overall brightness on SDR is great.
HDR is not really good though. Main thing you will notice is that in dark area, the overall brightness drops to highlight the light area. Most of the time, I would recommend playing in standard SDR.

This is my second of these monitors, One for each gaming machine. They are absolutely amazing! The picture quality is fantastic, it is FAST, smooth, g-sync native. Overall, it is a dream monitor. The HDR 400 is more or less worthless, but I knew that going in, I wanted something that was g-sync, fast (120Hz+), with wide color gamut, IPS, and as large as possible. This monitor checks every box and does so very well. No, it is not going to win awards, it in not perfect, but comparing apples to apples, with the technologies available and direct competition, I dont think there is a better choice.
Now if I could just get LG to make this monitor, but 43″ at 16:10, that would be my dream machine.
Jaguiar –
This monitor is definitely costly, but worth it if you want both high quality image and performance for gaming. The stand is extremely sturdy and secure. The interface is very easy. If you don’t have a system to support high image quality and FPS I’d go with something cheaper, but if you can support, this is it.
Slides2021 –
Nearly flawless product and I’m so glad I went with IPS. The colors are amazing and viewing angles are good too.
The extra screen estate really helps with productivity and immersion.
Flash –
I could not imagine going bigger than this 38in monitor it is simply massive and beautiful. The on board controls are intuitive and they actually work. Over locking this to 174 is a no brainer if your lucky to run a 3080.
Once you go 4K it’s hard to go back to anything else. Not a huge fan of the hdr though to be honest I don’t use it at all. Too bright even with a full professional calibration.
The added rgb color is cute but not really necessary for me. It runs warm so be aware and with all monitors spend the extra cash on the extended warranty because bad pixels happen!
Used mainly for video editing and still editing light gaming.

Excellent one of the best gaming monitor really really good I recommend this monitor so much
Baam –
I was really hesitant to actually purchase this monitor, but I am glad that I did. It was a little rough getting used to the way more accurate color range on the monitor and going from a 4K monitor at 160 ppi (pixel per inch) to a 2k monitor at 110 ppi. It took about 2 months for me to completely get used to the reduction in resolution. I was debating taking the monitor back before the return period was up, so I decided to hook up my old monitor and realized I could never go back to my old monitor. The old monitor looked completely washed out and the colors looked so sad. I have tried a 34” ultra wide monitor before that I returned because the height made it look funky, but this 38”s height is perfect and doesn’t make the screen look short. I would highly recommend this monitor.

While the monitor itself is amazing, the quality control is not. I went through 4 of these monitors from multiple stores and every one had issues.
The first had 2 stuck pixels that I couldn’t unsee and no matter what I did, would not un-stuck, so I returned.
The second had the exact same issue, but this time there were three stuck pixels. Returned.
The third had no stuck pixels!!! But, it had a faulty fan that made a loud buzzing sound. This monitor has an NVIDIA G-Sync chip in it that requires a fan. Normally, they are silent, but not this one. It was driving me insane, so it was returned.
I decided to try one more time by buying the monitor from a different store altogether. Received it in the mail, 2 stuck pixels. By this time I figured I was cursed by the LG gods and decided to move on to greener pastures. Ended up going with the Alienware 38″ and it was perfect out of the box.
I have an LG tv that I love, but I will never buy another LG monitor because of this horrible experience.
Rgbpuke –
the rgb puke backlight turn on every time you turn on your computer. It put out this multi color disco show for about 5 seconds at max brightness then turns off. I can’t find a way of disabling so returning it tommorow.
userEnd –
While this is an amazing display, it has an infuriating defect issue with HDMI. You will possibly see flicker and signal blackout as I did. Searching online I saw some threads relating to pulling the power, temporarily fixing problem but it will continue. No vendor patch or repair offered yet, so I returned as consoles were unplayable, as was office laptop. DisplayPort was flawless if that your only use-case. But for nearly $2000? Unacceptable.
I returned this and bought an ROG Strix XG49VQ for $900. Less LED for no reason, larger display and working as intended – vendor-flaw free.
LG also had very minimal on-device control options. ROG blasts features out of the park.
eman3 –
Not worth the money. The one I got was defective. I returned it – LG seems to have given up on quality control.
EngineerDan –
The monitor gives a whole new experience. Absolutely no problems (no dead or stuck pixels). G-sync works as it should – I haven’t noticed any tearing or smearing in games. All HDR-compatible apps switch to HDR depth automatically (once I set it up in Windows). For business apps, I can have three documents/apps on-screen at the same time in easily readable sizes.
A consideration – because of the size of the included base, I bought a monitor arm to reclaim desk space.
The only downside to the monitor – the price. You get what you pay for

Although my review will say that I had just recently purchased this monitor, I bought it back in December of 2020. Just recently I had a red/green line appear down the right-hand side of the monitor. Luckily, I had Geek Squad Protection and they were able to see the line and instantly ship me a replacement with no further actions taken. Probably one of the best experiences I’ve had with getting anything replaced.
As far as the monitor itself, I came from 2 x 1080p monitors and this thing is just blowing me away. My only regret is not hopping on a 2000 series graphics card to really run this monitor to it’s full potential. I will never without an ultra-wide monitor. Response time is fantastic, colors are great and it really just enhances the experience not just for gaming but for overall productivity.
vp3d –
This is a very good monitor. Right out of the box the colors looked bright and accurate in Photoshop. Games run and look outstanding as well. HDR ran well and the back led light functioned well in “match video mode”. Perfect monitor for work and games. It’s not cheap, but worth the long term investment.
ITJIm –
The monitor I purchased had some awful backlight bleed. More than once I thought the bottom right corner of the monitor was suffering from light reflections from the nearby window. Then I saw the same behavior at night in a dark room. I found this behavior distracting and unacceptable.
The second issue was defective RGB light ring on the back of the monitor. The light ring would do rainbow with no issues. Using the LG Ultra Gear software allows programming of the light ring. In my case, only the left side of the ring would turn off with any mode other than the default rainbow affect. Firmware and software updates did not resolve the issue.
Between the distracting backlight bleed and the defective RGB lighting affects I chose to return the monitor. At the time, there was no stock to swap the monitor.
LivingLargeForSure –
Fantastic monitor. Color accuracy, responsiveness are the best you can get in an ultra wide.
TheAriGold –
Very nice monitor that excels at both office and gaming use. While fantastic, it’s hard to justify the price (unless I’m sale)
Nathan –
This is an excellent monitor. The color is vibrant, the motion is extremely crisp, and it’s just a bit taller than a standard-sized monitor. It fills my field of vision perfectly without being so wide or tall that I have to turn my head. Gaming is an amazing experience, and the extra screen realestate is greatly appreciated for work.
Gsync works very well. It is natively detected and just works. It’s plug and play as plug and play should be. The native support means there is an additional fan to cool the module, and it is slightly audible. It sounds like white noise. However, I can’t hear it over speakers. For work applications with no sound, it was a bit annoying at first, but after about three weeks, I stopped noticing it.
I previously bought a similar model from Amazon, shipped from and sold by them. I liked it better, and it was a bit less expensive. However, it didn’t ship until the day after the expected delivery date, and it took twice as long as initially quoted after it did to arrive. It arrived with two big holes in the box, missing documentation, and a badly cracked screen. Obviously not even refurbished. I sent it back immediately, but it took Amazon over a month to refund me, and they accused me of causing the damage. I tried to post a review, and they rejected it. Makes me wonder about the legitimacy of the 4-star average.
The Amazon experience isn’t new, and it’s been happening to me there with increasing frequency, especially over Christmas. I don’t really trust them as much anymore, and I’ve been shopping here more often as a result. My experience here with this monitor was very different. It arrived in the promised condition within the promised timeframe. For other items I’ve had a problem with, Best Buy has been very helpful, and we’ve gotten it resolved.
Shopping experience is an important part of buying anything, especially something expensive like this. And where Amazon has failed me time and time again, Best Buy continues to impress.
JenD –
The monitor is beautiful and allows for great depth and colors. The detail is great. It was also very easy to set up and get going.
Edward –
Love it, exactly as advertised. I use it for work and play. Got it for work because my older 21″ monitor just didn’t give me the real estate I needed. Have played Nier:Automata and Witcher:Wild Hunt on it so far. Amazing colors and responsiveness. Almost feel like I’m really there. I had worried a LITTLE about the stand sticking out in front but it’s perfect. the “boomerang” foot really doesn’t take up that much space. The support column is metal/heavy (steel?) and I’ve had no rocking issues. Love the “sphere lighting” on the back: never thought I’d be into that kind of thing, but it makes me happy when I see it, lol. Computer’s the same way, with the colors.
Perfectly easy to use. Love the little “joystick” at center-bottom for turning it on (if needed) and for controlling things. Intuitive. Great quality so far. I considered taking a star off because I’d have liked deeper blacks, but that’s more because of the LED technology used… I think it’s as good as can be achieved with the technology, so.
Regarding value, frankly I think it’s over-priced, even with the Nvidia G-SYNC compatibility: you pay a premium for that, I’d say about $500 over a comparable monitor without it. That said, I’d do it all over again. Very happy with this monitor.
TommyP –
I have watched this monitor for 2 years and already knew it was the best 38″ wide screen gaming monitor you could get. Its quite pricey but hopefully will last me for 10+ years. Some highlights are native 144hz (up to 175hz with lower res use), a nice LED on the back (controllable by LG software or the OSD). Paired with m y 3080TI its able to do most games at 144Hz with no issue. The colors and resolution are very nice and above anything under 4k. LG makes amazing panels, and Best Buy is my go to after scoring the 3080TI for MSRP. I am going to try to buy all electronics from them moving forward if they ca continue to support the PC community by not ripping folks off on the chip shortage
KingLatef –
All i can say is its not worth it. Had it for 2 weeks screen started to shut off & just had bad experience with the screen. I purchased a dell Monitor & I love it.
WarMongrels –
high cost but worth every penny. Its a little on the fragile side so always use caution when handling but it delivers a great picture when gaming
Zachp –
Best 38 inch gaming monitor I have ever owned. Definitely recommend!
Artie –
This LG computer monitor had the highest resolution of all the monitors tested by Consumer Reports.

I’ve owned 3 of these monitors, and all of them failed.
The first one was defective immediately, and I exchanged it in store for a new one. The second one sat unused for a while, and then after 3 months of use, it began to show vertical bars and eventually very bad image retention. At that point I bought a third one, which worked fine for a week, and then suddenly began experiencing the same symptoms as the previous model. I’ve since moved onto another brand and have had no problems.
Mxmvmx –
It’s a good product lg monitors are the top monitors in the industry quality wise
FarzadE –
Unable to get Windows 10/11 to support the ultra wide mode of this monitor – windows does not recognize or LG does not have the correct driver for ultra wide mode. So don’t expect the full 38” of display to work on Windows 10/11. Returned mine to get a smaller display.
Will –
Colors are vibrant. Refresh rate is absolutely amazing. Best monitor on the market
KevinG –
Best monitor I’ve ever had. I can fit 3 normal sized windows in one.
OrlandoG –
Great monitor, nice colors. Only complaint is a very slight whining from the Gsync module but not a deal breaker, plus got it on Black Friday for a great deal
cyberdbr –
I bought this as an exchange for an older monitor I bought GSP with and I was not disappointed. I went from a 49in 1080p ultrawide to 39in 1440p and I absolutely love it. It’s been a month with daily use and I haven’t had a single problem with it.
The one thing is I did buy this monitor on sale for like $850 (idk how), but seeing the actual price, I would’ve definitely not bought it for the regular price. If you see it on sale, buy it!
Jayl –
Good Monitor but it has some kinks to it- Flickers but they have good support
SirObserver –
Purchased this in Dec 2021, Today is April 2023.
I’ve used this monitor everyday for a hybrid work station/gaming setup so it’s safe to say this device is on most of the time during the day. Total power on time is 3597 hours and I am currently experience screen burn in with my M2 14in MacBook Pro. That is my only complaint–other than that this has been a beast at handling games. I love the multicolored led on the back (although I wish LG could provide software for apple users to customize and sync the colors with what’s being displayed on screen.
customervip –
Excellent monitor! Highly recommend for gaming. I have it running with 4090. I grabbed it on sale here when it was 999, which was absolutely a steal deal.
BLUE –
great display, my only complaint is that my replacement does not offer brightness adjustment with the menu joystick like the previous one did. also a 4k variant would be nice
Kyle –
This screen is huge! I purchased when it was on sale for 50% off, at the $899 price it was an an incredible deal. I mainly use for work/productivity and the screen real estate is amazing for it. Gaming is a treat. Very happy with my purchase.
NickT –
Games look incredible on this display and great for any work that requires having several screens open at once
RafaelA –
Awesome display. Huge. Great quality. Would recommend!
Comsumer222677 –
Dead pixels in less then a year nice picture bad reflections limited led customs receive last year’s model instead of the new one with the type c over all hasn’t been worth the 999
Risto –
Love it perfect for my photography and video editing
NaAl –
I am not using it for gaming, I am a SW engineer and love the real state.
The only complaint I have is when my Dell aptop wakes from a sleeps, the monitor is not recognized, and I have to power on/off the monitor to get it working.
Z3r0Sk1lls –
Hands down the best ultra wide monitor out there. Definitely worth every penny. I have owned this monitor for almost 3 years now with almost 7,000 hours and not a single dead pixel. Still works flawlessly. The isp panel is my biggest reason for choosing this model. I was tired of the ghosting that happens with VA panels and bit the bullet. To this day, I am so happy I did. The LED display is so bright and the colors look perfect. If youre willing to spend almost $2k after taxes on a monitor, do it.
BryanK –
Great overall monitor and performs well. I would buy it again.
