Skylitday –
To start off, this isn’t my first Rodeo with IEM/earbuds, especially wireless ones. The packaging and feature set is quite appealing, especially in a market full of competitive options.
FIT:
I’m happy to say that these buds have no issues with how they fit in my ears nor do I have to worry about them falling out. This is very important as the TF8Q is marketed towards being sporty. I was afraid they would struggle in this area, but they pass with flying colors.. 5/5
SUBJECTIVE SOUND:
I’m not exactly found of the the sound signature of these IEMS (Tried all tip sizes), but they’re not terrible either. I just wish they were a bit more detailed.
They default in bass boost mode, but you can change this to flat/Natural with the LG TONE APP.
Overall opinion of subjective sound quality? 3.5/5. Decent.
BATTERY ENDURANCE:
Excellent.. Zero issues 5/5
BT CONNECTIVITY/MULTI-PAIRING/LG TONE APP:
This is where the TF8Q really struggle for me. I’m generally used to seamless connectivity and responsiveness and these just annoy me for a better lack of terms.
It sometimes glitches and requires you to reset the connection between your devices. Multi-pairing requires enabling the feature in the LG TONE APP.
Battery life percentage can only be seen in the APP as well, at least on my brand of phone.
This gets a 2/5 for me.
NOISE CANCELING/AMBIENT TRANSPARENCY MODE:
Noise canceling works decent enough, but the ambient mode could use a little work.. Not as good as what I’m used to.
CONTROLS:
Easy to use, but you can accidently change modes or pause music if you’re trying to reposition your earbud inside your ear. Works as intended otherwise.
UNIQUE FEATURES:
The case has a feature called UVNANO+ which apparently kills 99% of bacteria within 10 minutes of being charged. I can’t really judge how this works but I’m sure it does what its suppose to. Pretty cool.
The second cool feature is the USB-C to 3.5MM cable. This allows you to charge your case and connect it to a source like a Plane audio jack, PC, Portable player, and or Phones that still have jacks built in. I’ve never seen this on wireless buds, but its a welcomed feature.
NERD FACTS:
The buds operate at 32BIT FLOAT/44.1khz and cannot be changed.
Mic is 16 bit/16000khz. Don’t expect the best possible voice quality for calls.
OVERALL:
They’re not perfect, nor does it fit my criteria of preferred sound, but they’re loaded with features and I can see them working well for a lot of people, especially if you like pre EQ’d sound.
Overall? 3/5 for general use and 5/5 for fit and battery life!

I have been using a pair of wireless earbuds made by a company that is well-known for the quality of its audio products and also for their very high price tags. But I wanted to try the LG TONE-TF8Q earbuds because I was intrigued by some of the advertised features. I was not disappointed.
One of the clever, unique features is the capability of the charging case to turn into a transmitter when plugged into an audio device through a special analog cable. So, for example, you can connect the case through the cable into the 1/8″ audio jack on an airplane to listen to music or movie audio with the wireless earbuds instead of wired earbuds. I haven’t tested this on a plane, but I tried it through the headphone jack of my laptop and it works perfectly.
Another unique feature is the ability of the charging case to bathe the earbuds in disinfecting UV light while they are being stored. By default, the UV turns on for ten minutes, but this can be adjusted to run all the time while the earbuds are in the case.
Enough on the clever case. The earbuds themselves deliver excellent sound quality, as good as the quality of my more expensive buds. The app that accompanies the TONE-TF8Q allows for 5 equalizer presets and, of course, the ability to set your own equalizer settings, two of which can be saved as your custom settings. The app, by the way, made connecting to my phone by Bluetooth absolutely effortless. No need to open my phone’s Bluetooth settings; simply by booting up the app for the first time, the earbuds connected.
One slightly disconcerting feature for me is the touchpad feature of the earbuds. I know that tapping on the earbuds once or twice to start/stop play and to turn the volume up or down is a standard, expected feature for headphones and earbuds. But the touchpads are so sensitive and the buds are so small that when I insert them in my ears I can’t help but hit the touchpad unintentionally. Furthermore, it seems that when I do this, the earbuds automatically start playing the last thing I listened to (in this case, some music on Spotify) without the Spotify app appearing to be open on my phone. At first I was mystified about where the music was coming from until I figured this out. The touchpad settings can, of course, be turned off or changed to a different command or to voice command. However, I could not figurer out how to use voice command after choosing that setting and I found nothing online or in the manual about this feature.
One other small dissatisfaction is the noise cancelling feature. This is an important feature fore me when traveling on a noisy plane. Not being able to test them on a plane at the time of writing this review, my next best test is using the earbuds while standing next to my noisy dryer when it is running. The noise cancellation definitely damped down the dryer noise, but not as well as my more expensive earbuds. Satisfactory, but not great.
These small issues aside, I am very pleased with the TONE-TF8Q. They fit securely in my ears and do not fall out when I shake my head up and down and side to side, so they are good for exercising. The sound quality is good and the noise cancellation, acceptable. I can recommend these earbuds.

The LG TONE Free Fit wireless earbuds are a decent set of headphones, yet their sound quality is far from being exceptional. While they possess some cool features and nice technology, their middle-of-the-road performance when it comes to playing music makes them fall short of being a “must-have” item. Still, the benefits they do offer may still be enough to entice you to overlook their so-so audio reproduction capabilities.
My first impression was positive, as I was impressed with the packaging, which appears to be more eco-friendly than most tech products and was thoughtfully laid out. These earbuds come with different size earbud tips and ear hooks, which ensure that everyone can get a comfortable fit. Also in the box is the charging case, charging cable, and an auxiliary cable that allows you to plug these headphones into standard headphone jack inputs. I appreciate that the charging case is magnetic, so when you go to place the earbuds back in the case, they will automatically fall into place. While the case has the means to sanitize the earbuds with UV light, I didn’t really have a way to measure how well this feature worked.
Charging time to full did not take long, and I was soon ready to pair these headphones to my Apple iPhone. I was prompted to download an LG app that helps control the various features, and it actually works quite well. While the earbuds do have touch controls by tapping the outside of the left or right buds, I typically controlled everything via my smartphone and the app. I do have to say that I’ve used similar Bluetooth apps for other headphones, and the LG app is by far the easiest and most streamlined one to use.
Listening to a wide range of music led me to conclude that the sound of the LG TONE earbuds is good, but not amazing. All of the music I listened to was in Apple Lossless (ALAC) format, downloaded from Bandcamp, or imported from my collection of CDs. I tested music from hip-hop, metal, country, electronic, and reggae artists, and I would say that the LG earbuds seem best suited for more modern, bass-heavy genres. While all of the elements of the sound were adequate (bass, mid, and treble), there was simply nothing that stood out as being exceptional. The (max) volume is also relatively low, with the maximum volume not being anywhere loud enough that I felt I should turn down the music to safeguard my hearing. The various EQ settings on the LG app helped me find a sound that I preferred for most songs, but again, I was never floored by the performance of these earbuds.
While I wasn’t particularly blown away by the sound quality, there were some positive aspects when using these headphones. There was never any distortion; there was no static or interference from the Bluetooth; and the connection was rock solid due to the earbuds using Bluetooth version 5.3. The noise-cancelling feature works relatively well, although I personally preferred to keep it off to save battery and hear a bit more outside noise. Answering phone calls worked perfectly fine, and people on the other end did not complain about my mic quality.
Additionally, the fit of the earbuds was secure due to the right size tips and the corresponding ear hooks. I wasn’t worried about them falling out while I was using them, which is a plus for active users. The battery life is also exceptional, and since the case can be used to charge the earbuds, I didn’t have to worry about charging these very often.
At the end of the day, I’m left feeling that these earbuds certainly get the job done, but they don’t do anything in spectacular fashion. It’s almost as if the earbuds themselves are a 9 or 10, but the sound quality is simply a 5. While I would love more impressive sound from the LG TONE Free Fit wireless earbuds, they remain a solid option for those looking for a reliable set of Bluetooth headphones that can complement their active lifestyle.

What’s in the box:
Earbuds
• Case that charges the earbuds, has UV sanitizer built in, and can be used as a Bluetooth transmitter.
• USB-A to USB-C charging cable
• USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable (used when case is acting as Bluetooth transmitter.)
• 3 sets soft earbud tips, 1 set each small, medium, large
• 3 sets of ear hooks (wings), 1 set each small, medium, large
Cons:
• The case is not chargeable wirelessly. It must be charged with a USB-C cable.
• Some issues maintaining a connection.
Pros:
• They sound really good. Not as good as my $300 set of earbuds, but for the price point they sound very good.
• These have Multipoint!!
• The case serves as a Bluetooth transmitter when connected to 3.5mm audio port of a device that does not have Bluetooth. This is a great feature and one I have not found in other earbuds.
• They have ANC (Active Noise Cancelling)
• Comfortable and very secure fit. The ear hooks work better than most I’ve tried.
• Can use either the left or the right earbud while the other is in the case.
• UV sanitizing built into the case
I didn’t really have any way to verify that the UV light functions or that it sanitizes the earbuds. But if it actually works, that is a very cool feature. There are also blue “mood” lights inside the case that glow briefly when the case is opened. These blue lights are not the UV sanitizers. They don’t seem to have a function other than they look cool.
The earbuds pair and connect just fine without the LG Tone Free app, but Multipoint is not enabled by default. The only way I found to enable Multipoint is with the app. Plus, once Multipoint was enabled, I could not pair the second device without the app. I highly recommend downloading the 31 page manual from the LG support website or accessing from within the LG TONE Free app. To take full advantage of the features, at least look at the manual.
I was truly blown away by these at first. They include so many features that are lacking in even the most expensive earbuds. Yet these are moderately priced. But after a few days I began having problems with them disconnecting occasionally when they were in Multipoint mode. I gave them a full charge and tried using them with two different devices. But I still had the problem sporadically. They remain paired, but I have to manually reconnect them. Which is simple but still annoying. I REALLY wanted these to be spectacular. Even with the occasional disconnect issue, I still use them. So, it’s not a deal killer. But until I figure out how to fix it, I’m deducting one star.

I’ll just start off with the important stuff right out of the gate.
1. They are very comfortable. I have ears that are not very conducive to wireless headphones generally, but these have multiple sizes for comfort. However, what makes them most comfortable to me is they don’t press into your ears. You kind of corkscrew them so there’s as little friction as possible.
2. They sound really good. They have a decent range of bass, the volume is more than adequate, and the sound is clean and clear to me. I am not an audiophile so I can’t tell you if it hits all the tones perfectly, but music is clean and books voices are clear.
3. The case is compact, making it easy to carry but not so small that it’ll be easy to lose.
4. They charge quickly and stay charged for a long time for true wireless.
5. The case says it cleans, but I have no way of testing that and I’m the only one who uses them so not really worried about that.
6. The touch to adjust works very well and eliminates the need to push buttons and requires less space.
Now the small details. The box they come in is small with very minimal waste. I appreciate simplistic packaging for many reasons including minimizing trash. Set up is very easy whether you use their app or not, standard Bluetooth connection. I didn’t have cutouts or drops or anything negative and I left my phone on the shelf while working in the garage and immediate area (about 25-30 feet). The light on the case tells you the case power level when closed and the earbud power level when open. That’s a nice touch.
I am very happy with these and will use them until they no longer work. Which I hope is a long, long time from now.

These LG Tone Free Fit TF8Q earbuds offer a bunch of features, and are great for physical activities. Truly wireless earbuds that offer a charging case, with a unique UV sanitization capability built within. Another feature with the case is that you can simply plug the 3.5mm plug into a laptop port for example, and then use your headphones for listening purposes. Clever for multitasking.
The Tone Free Fit TF8Q are great for working out. In my case I have been using them for various exercises in which I am jumping, moving aggressively, and sweating profusely. These earbuds have been doing the job they’re meant to do. Staying in place and not falling out. These earbuds offer multiple fit accessories for the inner ear and also the wing component to hook into your ear cartilage. My main reason for this set of earbuds is for running outdoors and they feel comfortable enough to remain in place without having to adjust them over and over. They are truly made to move and LG SwivelGrip helps to hold them in place.
The earbuds offer a few listening options such as ANC, which is LG’s hybrid ANC for using 2 microphones to keep your music in your ear and block out external noise. I have found that the ANC is just so/so on these, but it does block out a minimal amount of external sound. LG Meridian offers a few preset sound settings such as Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, and 3D Sound Stage. All of these features can be found within the LG Tone Free app. And if those sound styles don’t suit you there are 2 custom settings that you can tune to your preference. Overall the app is well built and offers a nice guided tour of the earbuds and settings. IP67 dust and water resistance means that you’ll be able wear these on those rainy day runs without worrying about damaging your investment. Up to 30 hours of playback ability should be sufficient for travel or exercise needs. 3 microphones for phone calls will help to make sure you’re heard clearly when you’re on the phone. Being outside on a windy day can cause some challenges to be heard as the microphones tend to pick up the wind noise and make it hard for your caller to hear you.
The unique built in UV sanitizer is an added bonus for me. Killing 99.9% of surface bacteria within 10 minutes of being placed into the charging case. Helpful for keeping your earbuds clean and ready for the next usage.
The multi point and multi pairing ability of these earbuds is a welcome addition for using them in multiple settings. At one point I can be working out and pair them up to my phone, and at another moment I’m watching my Smart TV and listening on my Tone Free Fit. Excellent feature and easy to switch between devices.
PRO:
Great for active athletes
Sanitization feature
Compact
CON:
ANC technology could be better

There’s a lot to like about these earbuds. They have a swivel grip to keep them in place when you’re actively moving. Whether exercising, in flight, or working in the yard, they stay in place. I found the noise canceling to work great, and when set for conversation, it was very easy to hear others. The case has a UV light to keep them free of bacteria, which is reassuring. When wearing them for a few hours, they do grow to be uncomfortable. Just enough to be noticeable.
Bluetooth connectivity was really simple. They easily paired to my tablet and phone. I found the app to be easy to use. It provides an array of settings, as well as capabilities such as finding your earbuds and updating the firmware.
Listening to TV shows and movies was exceptional. Crisp and clean dialogue and sound effects. On phone calls they worked well, with no concerns. I found that listening to music however, was not as satisfying. It seemed to be flat, even when adjusting the equalizer. Since that’s what I primarily use them for, it stopped me from giving them 5 stars.
Overall a nice set of earbuds when considering the full capabilities these have. Quick charging, long battery life, and water resistant. Their ease of use is great for the novice too. No complications, they just work.

The LG Tone Free fit are great earbuds with minimalist design. These earbuds appear to be simple but they pack a ton of features. A cool feature that I never seen before is that when the earbuds are in the case charging, the case reduces bacteria on the speaker mesh of the earbuds. Paring them up to the phone was relatively easy. When you open the case it automatically becomes discoverable. To take advantage of all the features you must download the free LG Tone app.
The application has an interactive owner’s manual that walks you through the proper way of wearing the earbuds, the earbuds control buttons, the different color light meaning on the case and the ambient sound and noise canceling feature. The app also allows you to change the equalizer settings. The available settings are immersive, bass boost, 3D sound stage, natural and treble boost.
The sound quality of these earbuds is good, but I was more impressed with the call quality. It is phenomenal. When you use them to make a call the sound is so clear that the person at the other won’t notice that you’re using earbuds. They sound like you talking from the actual phone. These buds come with noise canceling as well and it’s great. They are also comfortable to wear. Battery life on these earbuds is rated 10hrs plus additional 20hrs with the charging case.
Overall these are impressive earbuds for the price tag. You get good sound, outstanding call quality, noise canceling plus a bunch of other features in a minimal design. LG has done well. In the box you get a USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a USB-C to auxiliary cable, and earbud tips.

I’ve had a chance to try out the new LG TONE Free Fits for about a week. I’ve tried to use them wherever possible – at the gym, walking my dog, listening to music, gaming and phone calls. These are true wireless buds that are focused at active/sport users, while have a couple neat perks not found elsewhere. The buds come with 3 rubber tip and Swivelgrip sizes for you to choose from. There is also the included USB-C charging cable, a USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable, and the case. The box and packaging are all recyclable, which is something that is nice to see on new products.
Features
The TONE Free Fits are an ‘in-ear’ bud with swappable ear tips and Swivelgrips. The Swivelgrip design helps to hold the buds in place while the overall shape makes it easy to hold. These buds carry an IP67 rating which is more than what is typically necessary for an active wear bud. With the IP67 rating you could wear these in the shower or casually swimming – probably not for doing laps though. The interface for each bud is tappable surface that responds to different numbers of taps or presses. The material used on the buds is a soft and smooth plastic that provides a nice amount of grip. The Swivelgrip fins twist into place and basically lock into the cymba (upper part of the concha – I had to look up the names) part of your ear. As the Swivelgrip fin locks into your ear it presses the body of the bud back against the antihelix (outer ridge of your ear), and really provides a solid fit. I have made myself dizzy trying to shake these loose, but to no avail. I had no issue pairing the buds to my phone or to my GF’s phone – you do need to download the LG TONE Free app to customize things. It will connect to whichever phone happens to be closest, and it does it quickly. On Android it shows me the status of each bud and the case – I think the app supports this readout even if you don’t have it running.
The buds come with Bluetooth 5.3 among other connectivity standards (BLE, Google Fast Pair, etc.) I didn’t notice a reported range anywhere, but I had no issue maintaining connection across my house from my phone. The buds have a decent battery life – 6 with ANC on or 10 hours with it off. The case doubles the battery life – 12 hours total if using ANC or 20 off. The buds also have a quick charge feature where 5 minutes in the case will provide an hour of play time. Charging the case can be done through the USB C port and takes about 2 hours to fully charge from empty. The case has an indicator light for their battery status – green is 80%+, yellow is 20-80%, and red is below 20%.
The case itself is reasonably sized – not super small but small enough to go unnoticed in a pocket. The buds are held into the case magnetically and fit into their respective spots. The case has a light texture and a few ridges that give you some grip for opening the cover. It has a couple of other tricks – a UV light built in to sanitize the earbud tips, which appears to operate while charging the base. Upon opening the lid the UV lights power down, so no risk of looking into the UV. Also, opening the lid of the case starts the pairing process with your phone, so everything is paired up and ready by the time you get a bud into your ear. The case has one last trick, which is to act as a Bluetooth transmitter. The small switch on the side allows you to use the included USB-C to 3.5mm audio cable to plug into a device that doesn’t have Bluetooth but has a headphone port. Examples given for this feature were for use on an airplane, or plugging into gym equipment (stationary bikes, ellipticals, etc). I actually gave it a shot with a Roku remote and my Xbox controller. Both worked perfectly well, and it’s the first time I’ve used a wireless earbud for Xbox since the Xbox 360 days.
There are 3 settings for noise cancelling – noise cancelling (ANC), off, and ambient. Ambient has two modes – Conversation and Listening. I used Listening Mode for when I am out walking my dog and it works tremendously. Conversation also worked great for when I am at work and have a co-worker stop by to chat about something. As far as ANC goes I found it a little short of expectations. It works well for white noise/background office noise, but it doesn’t isolate as well as I had hoped. As good as the Ambient mode was, I expected the ANC mode to really shine but its just average.
Fit/Comfort
These are very comfortable buds to wear around for long periods of time. I found the Swivelgrip fins to be very useful in creating a worry-free fit, so I never really worried about them popping out. I had zero issue with these at the gym even while sweating profusely. They stayed in for circuit activities like ball slams and burpees – never even felt them loosen up.
I have a pretty average size ear I guess because I always use the midsize tips for any earbud. My GF has a difficult time due to smaller ear features, and some buds she can’t wear even with the smallest tip. Out of the 6 or 7 earbuds I already have, I think she can use 1 pair. Well now she has another option because these fit her perfectly with the smallest ear tip and the smallest Swivelgrip fin. Honestly that’s a really big bonus for us because she doesn’t like having to wear over-the-ear headphones to have ANC.
Controls
The controls are simple and customizable within the app. You have the option to set controls based on taps (1, 2, or 3) or pressing and holding. You can also divide your controls up between L and R. Since this utilize a touch interface the buds have sort of a haptic feedback that more of a simulated click noise through the speakers. I’m kind of on the fence with the touch controls because they seem a little slow to respond sometimes, but it could be because I’m not touching the exact right spot. The domed shape of the outer bud surface kind of disguises the center of the bud when you are trying to tap. Either way I’d give the touch controls a 6/10 – I’ve used worse, but I have definitely experienced better execution of a tap interface. I tend to adjust volume and skip songs most often, so I tagged volume to the L/R single tap controls and song skip to the press and hold. These do have the nice feature of auto-pausing your music if you pull a bud out of your ear, which is great to have.
Sound
Sound out of the buds is honestly great. I really like ANC buds/headphones because they tend to isolate better and provide clearer sound. Sound clarity out of the TONE’s is excellent – that goes for calls and music. These are right around the best sounding buds I own and do a good job with sound reproduction. There are 5 different EQ settings – Bass Boost, Immersive, Natural, Treble Boost, and 3D Sound Stage. Immersive and 3D Sound Stage are supposed to simulate depth and act like simulated surround sound. Bass and Treble Boost are pretty self-explanatory and Natural is supposed to be closer to the source file settings. You also have a couple of custom EQ’s you can set. My gripe with the custom setting is you can’t take the Bass Boost setting and tweak its levels slightly to your liking. Instead you start with a flat EQ and have to adjust every frequency interval, which can be difficult for those not familiar with an EQ curve. I typically trend towards bass heavier settings, so I started with the Bass Boost. I found it lacking in some of the higher ranges, so I made a custom Bass+Treble EQ to find my balance, which I liked and have favored going forward. For calls I toggled to Treble Boost which helps brighten up speech and made it easier for me to hear clearly. However, I think the way to get the best sound out of these is to go with a custom EQ – the built in ones are just OK, but leave a little to be desired. That being said with a custom EQ these sound terrific, and are really good for music, podcasts, etc.

I have used a lot of earbuds over the years and all have had different functions. I try to tuck a pair in my car, my jacket, my work bag, my gym bag, my desk in my lab, and my desk at home. I have couple of different sport earbuds that hook around my ears like my JLab Epic Air Sports and Epic Air Gos that work great for the gym, but I wouldn’t want to wear all day so they stay with my gym bag. I also have some buds that are great for office work so they stay at my desk, and another that’s for jobsite hearing protection which go in my tool bag. I also have a pair of Jabra Elite 7 Pro ANC earbuds that really have been my go to earbud in almost every case and I try to keep with me wherever I go. The only place I found fault with them is during circuit workouts where they wanted to pop out of my ears (too much sweat I guess) and try to be crushed by a ball slam. The TONE’s are the only buds that I could say work just about everywhere and without detriment. The Jabra’s have an admittedly much better ANC setup, but I won’t take them to the gym anymore, or while doing things that pose a decent knockout risk. The TONE’s Swivelgrip fins really do make a difference and help set these buds apart.
Overall
The TONE Free’s make a really good case for themselves as an ANC activewear earbud. The Swivelgrip fin is excellent for keeping the buds in place during even the most intense workouts, and still remain comfortable hours later. The sound quality is excellent and the Ambient hearing mode is fantastic. The ANC mode is just average, which is my only real knock on an otherwise great pair of buds. The case brings several novel features that helps to set the TONE’s apart, and expand their usability.

It’s been a few days now since I’ve had the LG Tone Free Tone-TF8Q Earbuds and I am honestly surprised by the experience thus far.
I’ll start by saying that I have a Samsung Android phone and (for some reason in October) I purchased the Apple AirPod Pro’s 2 because people referencing how good the sound quality was. And while the audio fidelity is indeed great, my biggest complaints were that they gave me headaches after an hour of usage, slipped out of my ears constantly and the lack of functionality it had with my phone. Oddly enough, right before I could purchase the Galaxy Buds 2 for the compatibility, I got the opportunity to try the LG “Tone-TF8Q” Buds. It features an expansive app for IOS and Android and is a great third-party earbud with great functionality on both all party smartphones.
Let’s start with the Case:
The case for these buds are truly something I personally never knew was needed, until recalling how often I had to clean my AirPods. The Tone-TF8Q utilized what LG calls “UVnano”. It uses a blue UV light to sterilize the metal mesh of the buds after each use. It’s super light weight with a vinyl textured surface with a flat base and an LED battery life indicator (Green = Fully charged/ Yellow = Half charged/ Red = Low Battery). You can get upwards 72 hours from 1 full charge, easily. It can also work as a wireless transmitter as it comes with both “USB-C to 3.5mm Jack”, perfect for Wireless night-time TV listening, No smart TV’s without a HDMI input, or in-flight audio. In the 2023, it may seem a bit redundant but it is a nice way to cover all bases.
Sound Quality:
Using the TONE Free app gives you the ability to hone in on your preferred sound in the Equalizer settings. There are 5 preset options: Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, and 3D Sound Stage with 2 custom tabs that allows you to fine tune the highs, mids, lows…etc. Taste may vary on which to choose but I personally toggle between “Bass Boost” and “3D Soundstage” as they both have share warmer audio fidelity while maintaining scope and clarity. Bass Boost are the closet to a perfect balance if the bass was lowered by 2 db’s. 3D Sounstage is akin to being in a well insulted recording studio space with a live band. It has pretty generous reverb that adds to the overall atmosphere without blanketing or muffling. I feel like while the clarity on the other presets are there, the audio on those are flat and somewhat sterile.
I played many songs but 3 GREAT DEMO songs are:
Aaliyah – One in a Million
Khruangbin – Mr. White
2Pac – How do you want It
All songs feature a large soundscape and great separation in the audio mixing.
Noise Cancelling
Active Noise cancelling is decent but susceptible to sudden high-mid range sounds without an intensity option. Ambient Sound however features a “Listening Mode” option (ideal for environment awareness) and a “Conversation Mode” (focusing in on dialogue). Conversation mode had louder ambient input and prioritized all sounds, equally, over Listening Mode and would be the preferred choice when navigating a busy environment.
Comfort
Regarding fit and comfort, I would put these over the AirPods by a country mile. The bud tips feel nice and snug and the rubber material sits in the ear even while eating, running and talking. Also, no headaches after extended periods of usage. This can also be attributed to the way the audio presents itself. While the sound quality of the AirPods are more Naturalistic, it subtly pumps those sounds closer to the eardrum and the ANC is like a vacuum. On the other hand, the TF8Q’s sound like earbuds but the audio quality is just as dynamic without being invasive. The only thing that you feel are small winged tips that loop around the inside of the ear and that fades after a few seconds.
In summary, the LG TONE Free Fit TF8Q is a great brand neutral option backed by the LG Meridian stamp of approval. Expansive app that allows broad functionally on both Android and Apple devices. Sound quality is very good but stand to be a richer in 3 of the 5 presets. What it lacks sound quality however, it makes up for in comfort and design. 4.25/5

I was very excited to try these LG-TONE Free Fit TF8Q earbuds. Set up was pretty straight forward, especially with the LG-TONE app that walks you step-by-step. The standard tips and wings were slightly too large for my ears, so I switched to the smaller buds and wings. When placing them in the ears, you do have to twist them forward in order to get that nice seal. They don’t feel like it’s going to fall out at all when I’m moving, either walking or running. There was some irritation on my left ear but I don’t think I’m allergic to the silicon used.
The sound is where these TF8Q’s shine. The app allows you to control the sound you want: Noise Cancelling, Off and Ambient Sound. Ambient is similar to the Transparency mode for other brands. Noise Cancelling is not fully Active Noise Cancelling, and I am still able to hear the environment around me. Furthering the control are two sub settings: Listening and Conversation modes. Depending if you want to listen to music while walking or want to distinguish and hear what people are saying,
TheEqualizer settings by LGxMeridian allows further enhancements to what you want to listen to: Immersive which offers expanded “peace”, Natural which is more balanced, Bass Boost, Treble Boost and 3D Sound Stage which provides “immersive and surrounding sound when watching movies or sport games”. Switching on and off from these through the app is pretty simple and self-explanatory.
So the overall experience has been very great. The Ambient Sound mode does allow great transparency when speaking to people while these are in your ears, and when listening to music or audiobooks can still enjoy hearing them. Again, The Noise Cancelling is also very good and it doesn’t fully block out all of the sound around me. I feel this is the best for me to have when listening to audiobooks so that I can really hear and focus on the spoken words. The touch/taps on the buds allow different settings, that also able to adjust to what you want. Touching once, twice, three times, and touch and hold can offer varying settings: Play/stop, voice command, volume control, previous/next, or off. Touch/Hold though allows for the switching of noise cancelling, ambient sounds.
Where I feel the LG-Tone Free Fit TF8Q really shines is the case. Accompanying this is a 3.5mm headphone cord that allows you to listen with the buds WITHOUT having to download the app, known ad the Plug and Wireless fearture. I.e., connecting these to my laptop and I am able to still listen with the buds. This is a great feature, and works well with older tablet devices that still utilize the 3.5 mm jack. Also, when placing the buds back into the case AND charging it, the case begins cleaning the ear buds by reducing the bacteria on the silicone buds and wings.
Battery levels are decent, I get about 5-6 hours before needing to recharge. The case has indicator lights that notify you of the battery level left: GREEN (more than 80%), YELLOW (20-80%) and RED (less than 20%).
Overall, these are really good earbuds with great features. Very worth it in my opinion.

Finally, a set of workout ear buds that do everything I need and more!
I was previously using an older set of wired, exercise earphones which connected with a wire and could clip to my shirt, to prevent the wire bouncing around. While music sounded good on them, they were not noise cancelling so most of my footfall on a treadmill or other turning was part of the soundtrack too.
Additionally, they would sometimes work their way out of my ear and I found myself routinely pushing them back in or adjusting while I ran or exercised.
The LG TON -TF8Q throws down the gauntlet, as soon as you get it unpacked. In a neat little charging case that holds enough charge to recharge the buds on its own a couple of times, it can also kill most bacteria that might gather on the earbuds after use – more on that later.
The ear buds come with extra ear gels and ear hooks of various sizes, but I was lucky and found that the default gels and hooks fit just fine and I have yet to have an ear bud fall out. They also ship with two cables – a USB Type-C charging cable for the case and a USB-C to Aux cable, to connect the charging case to an aircraft stereo or treadmill with the appropriate connection.
Connection to my iPhone was simple via Bluetooth and I was rocking music from various iPhone sources within seconds of unpacking them. You can touch the earbuds themselves to control some basic functions, such as play/pause (one touch) or next track (three touches). Depending on the context, these gestures will do other things too like answer phone calls or mute/unmute so they are quite useful. Volume control would have been nice but I can still do that off the source device so not really a problem.
LG has an app called “LG TONEFree which is useful for managing the earbuds. It will detect the earbuds and show things like battery left as a percentage, as well as let you set the equalizer settings. There are five presets (Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost and 3D Sound Stage), with Bass Boost being my favorite and then you can set up two custom settings of your own to pick from as well.
You can also manage the ambient sound or active noise cancelling levels in the app. I tend to just keep noise cancelling on, but it is possible to turn that off (saves some battery) or go to ambient sound which would be safer if you run on the road or ride a bike with these on.
The multi-point and multi-pairing feature in the app is useful if have multiple devices you will use these with. Two devices can be connected to the earbuds at the same time and the app will remember and show you the five most recently connected devices. You can then quickly switch between them from the app, rather than mess about unpairing/repairing and the other troubleshooting you end up doing when the wrong device is auto selected.
Software updates for the earbuds are also handled in the app but I have yet to see an update since receiving these. They shipped with 1.10.1 which is so far current.
Another notable, useful app feature is the ability to locate your earbuds by having them emit a loud chirping sound, triggered from the app. It even lets you pick if you lost the left or right and then just chirp that one.
The playback quality on the earbuds is great and I really enjoy rocking out with them on, usually while running but sometimes while just doing chores around the house or yardwork. They are dust, sweat and water resistant so are great for these kinds of activities.
While the active noise cancelling does not match up to my over-ear (and twice as expensive) headphones, it is really very good for earbuds and noticeably cuts down on outside noise. It was surprising how often my wife needed to wave to get my attention and then let me know that yelling at me was not working! At the same time, with the great equalization, I find the original sound is not too distorted and still matches what I expect for playback.
So long as the charging case is connected to power, when you put the earbuds back in for safekeeping and charging, the UVnano feature will disinfect them by bombarding them with ultraviolet light, killing most bacteria that may have gathered there while in your ears. It’s not a feature I would have sought out but it does no harm and makes me feel better about not getting an ear infection.
All in all, this is a feature-packed set of workout earbuds and definitely worth the investment for all that you get with them.

I have had these buds for more than a week now and I can easily say that they are a good value for money. The sound is good (not exceptional) and there are a number of features and customization options. Here are more detailed observations:
Pros:
– They provide a comfortable and secure fit. They come with three sets of ear bud tips (S, M, L) and three sets of ear hooks. The medium ones fit me the best. I am sure these will fit most of the users’ needs.
– They have a decent battery life. I was able to get around 10 hours without ANC in a single charge. The case can also charge the buds (a feature quite common now a days). The good part is that the case can provide up-to 1 hours of charge with a 5-10 minute charging.
– The case itself is pretty well designed. It has a textured exterior that helps holding it. The case also has UV Sanitizer built in that is supposed to fight the bacteria on the buds ear tips.
– They have IP67 rating which means that they are officially dust and water proof and can sustain a sweaty workout without any issues.
– The case can also be used as a bluetooth transmitter for non-wireless audio devices that have 3.5mm output. There is a USB-C to 3.5mm cable included in the box.
– It has multipoint connectivity
– The Tone-Free app provides a number of customization options
Cons:
– The sound quality is good but not exceptional
– ANC performance is not too good
– I faced connection issues few times
– Some of the default presets mask the real sound
Overall, even after above minor issues, these buds are a good value. They have good design, decent sound and a number of customization options and features. Go for them, you won’t be disappointed.

I compared these earbuds against the other name brands, which cost a little less as the LG was on sale at time of this review. The LG buds cost a little more but they bring lot to the table: great sound, active noise cancellation, better dust and water resistance, customizable controls, UV light cleaning, and the ability to connect the case to the 3.5mm jack on any device to stream audio to the earbuds. That last option is surprisingly useful when connecting to exercise equipment or something that doesn’t support bluetooth (such as airline seat displays).
Despite all that, I have two gripes about these earbuds. The first is there’s no off button. (This is unfortunately common with earbuds.) You’re expected to be wearing them, or put them into the case to recharge. I sometimes only wear them for a short time and instead of topping them off again I’d like to just put them on table. However, they stay active and slowly drain the battery. They do better than the other brand buds (which last about a day sitting on a table, these did 2+ days), but a long tap to turn on/off would be a nice feature. I want to avoid constant recharging to maximize the usable battery life.
The second gripe is the lousy fit, at least for me. They’re supposed to go into the ear and rotate into place, snugly sliding into the inner lobe of the ear. I included two pictures from the manual which shows them inserted, and rotated into place. I’m not sure if I just have odd ears, but none of the 3 sizes of fins included will fit my ear. My ear doesn’t have a well defined inner lobe for the buds to slot into. As a result I swapped the fins between the left and right buds so they point backwards (bigger side towards back of head). I can then rotate these the other way to fit the back of my ear, similar to how the other name brand fit. It’s not great, but it’s not uncomfortable. The looser fit is worth it for the other great features these earbuds offer. If they fit your ear, these are 5 stars.

Very easy to use and simple to setup. The app and Bluetooth connected easily. The LG Tone App is very intuitive and lets you set all kinds of things like noise canceling, eq with multiple pre-built eq choices, and multiple BT connections for easy switching between phone, tablet, etc.
Ear buds are comfortable for my ears and the default size buds they shipped with by default were the right size for me. (I have average size male ears). There are additional sizes to accommodate larger/smaller ears. Once they are in – they stay put. I found them a tiny bit awkward to grab to remove since they sit so well in your ear and don’t protrude much, but I’m sure I’ll get used to popping them out.
Tested out the noise canceling on both a flight and an office environment they worked just as well as my over the ear high end noise canceling head set. I wore them for 3+ hours straight and they were comfortable.
Watched a movie and the sounds and voices were very clear. I tried all kinds of different music types from jazz, hip hop, rock, dance, reggae, etc. and they all sound great.
Calls were good and people did not realize I was wearing Bluetooth ear buds. I really like that you hear your phone call audio in both ears (I have an older headset that’s just the right ear bud and I prefer these.)
The case charges them when not in use and the case is nice and small and easily fits in a pocket. Overall very pleased with these and I’m now traveling with these vs. my bulky over the ear head set.

These are a nice little set of earbuds. Like most earbuds these days, they come in a little carrying case that has a battery in it so it can recharge the batteries just by putting them in the case. That means you can listen longer before having to plug them into the wall.
Pairing them to my phone was very easy. You can do it without the app, but I strongly suggest using the LG Tone Free app. In the app you can fine tune adjustments and see more information about your earbuds. You can see the battery level. You can also set some preset EQ settings line Normal, Bass Boost, Treble Boos, Immersive, and 3D sound stage. You can also create and store 2 custom EQ settings using the 8 band EQ. I have always preferred to use my own EQ settings over preset ones.
There are also 3 modes to control outside noises. Off, Ambient Sound and Noise Cancelling. Ambient sound allows you to hear what’s going on around you as well as the music. That’s great if you are walking around outside and need to be aware of your surroundings. The noise cancelling isn’t really noise cancelling. It does block a lot of outside noise, but its not cancelling by any means. If you clap your hands with this mode on, you will still be able to hear the clap. So just be aware that its not as good as regular active noise cancelling that blocks all outside noise.
Now, how do they sound. I think they sound up to par with most buds in this price range. Not stellar, but not bad either… they are totally listenable. I was doing some remodeling at home and I easily listened to them for like 6 hours and they were very comfortable and sounded good. Bonus, they help protect my ears when I used power tools as well. I could still hear them, But the volume was drastically reduced. They have good bass that can be adjusted and the highs and mids were good as well. I think with the custom EQ most people will be able to find a sound that sounds great to you!
These are also marketed as kind of sport buds. I found that once these were in your ears they do stay there and I never had them fall out, or even slip a little bit while moving around. I’m confident that if you are out running or playing tennis or activities like that when you are moving around a lot, these will stay in your ears.
Overall, they are definitely good quality and sound good. Definitely check them out if you are looking for a new pair of earbuds!

These are more secure in my ears then my old buds. Less prone to falling out. It does take a bit of fidgeting with to get a good fit, you need to insert and twist till the “wings” lock into your ear lobes, but once its in its pretty secure and won’t fallout. I like that it doesn’t hang down or stick out from your ears so there’s less chance of it bumping into to snagging on something. You can use it lying down with a pillow and it stays in much better then my old ones. The touch buttons area is basically the end of the earbud so when you’re touching it to adjust the fit it will constantly register your key presses which is annoying so I turned off the controls from the app. for comfort and overall fit I’d give it a 8 out of 10. Cool compact charging case with USB-C has a unique feature that it has UV sterilization to kill germs which is pretty cool.
Sound is pretty good but a bit on the bright side with the highs. If you can get a good deep fit into your ear the bass is strong and sounds really good. There are numerous sound settings in the app and you can customize to get the sound you like . The noise cancellation works ok, but not 100% effective some sounds still come through, there is no level to adjust noise cancellation. overall i’d give these a 8 out of 10.

I received the LG TONE Free Fit TF8Q True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earbuds in Black, they seem to be very well made and durable, they are black with green accents they come with three pairs of silicone ear tips in small, medium, and large sizes, as well as three sizes of removable ear hooks.
With no adjustments to the standard custom EQ profile, the in-ears has some nice bass, at top volume levels, no distortion is present, and at more moderate volume levels, the lows still sound great.
The app defaults to the Meridian Bass Boost EQ preset, but you can choose between Immersive, Natural, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, or 3D Sound Stage presets,
the app also offers on-screen controls for the ANC and Ambient modes, you can toggle both settings, as well as switch between the two Ambient presets.
The touch panels on the outside of each earpiece are easy to operate, in-ear audio prompts accompany each tap and provide useful feedback. The default control layout is sensible: Tap once on either earbud to control playback or answer a call; tap twice to turn the volume down (left) or up (right); and tap three times on either earpiece to skip forward a track. Finally, press and hold to toggle between ANC and Ambient settings.
Notably, the companion app lets you add an option to the touch control selections to turn off both the ANC and Ambient modes, as well as remove any of the existing options. You can also set the triple tap gesture on the left earbud to go backward one track, a function LG oddly leaves off by default.
The oval charging case features a grip-friendly, textured exterior and opens like a clamshell. Two status LEDs sit on the front: One shows the battery life and the other turns blue when the internal UVnano feature is active.
Overall, I believe these to be very nice ear buds to use in just about any activity, and would recommend.

The LG Tone Free Fit headphones are designed for active wear, so are great for use while running, walking, or simply listening to music while you work.
These Bluetooth headphones come with three sets of earpieces for a comfortable fit. The earpieces come in a black hard case with a neon yellow liner to match the black and yellow earpieces. The case holds the earpieces in with magnets, so the earpieces don’t fall out. It uses a USB-C charging cable with a standard headphone plug on the other end. Put the headphone plug into your computer to charge the earpieces. A light on the case lets you know the earphones are charging.
You control the headphone settings with the LG TONE Free app (available free for iPhone and Android phones). The app is intuitive, and setup is easy. The best features of the apps are:
– the choice of five preset equalizer settings, plus custom settings;
– the ability to control ambient sound with a choice of three settings;
– custom touchpad settings
– the ability to pair the headphones with multiple devices.
I tested the earphones with music, with radio broadcast, and with a podcast. I like the ability to quickly adjust the equalizer setting with one tap on my iPhone. Like other Bluetooth headphones, it takes a bit of time to learn which taps control the right and left earpieces, e.g., to turn them on an off, to increase or decrease volume, to answer the phone, etc.
I also tested the earphones with a long call on my iPhone. I found that the phone call sounded the best with the Ambient Sound mode turned on.
I have owned several sets of LG earphones over the years, and these True Wireless Noise Cancelling In-Ear Earphones do not disappoint!

These LG wireless earbuds are my first pair of wireless earbuds and I am impressed!! Set up was super easy with downloading the free app and charging the earbuds with the included USB charger. They were fully charged in about an hour and I’ve been using them for 4 days on and off without losing g battery power! The earbuds come with several options of ear gels to adapt to for your comfort/ear. They also come with 2 sets of ear hooks to adapt to your comfort/fit. The case charges the earbuds when they are placed inside. I found it easy to transfer between phones calls, laptop documents, etc. but gently touching the exterior of the earbud while in use. These earbuds are noise cancelling making the surrounding noise undetectable. You can choose to have ambient sound so that you can hear sound around your environment. A unique feature to these earbuds is the swivel technology that allows them to securely for snug in your ear so that you can do rigorous types of activity/exercise and they do not budge. The app has several features that are helpful but I really like the “locate” feature that from the app has the earbuds emit a chirping sound allowing your to locate them if misplaced!
Overall my experience so far has been very positive and I would recommend to others!

The LG Tone Free TF8s are definitely my favorite pair of earbuds.
They have more features than some of the other competitive brands, and
have great sound.
The charging case is nice and compact, and can even comfortably fit in your pocket.
The case comes with a a couple awesome and unique abilities. It can connect your
wireless earbuds to any audio source with a 3.5mm audio jack. This feature works
great. I was even able to connect the earbuds to my PS5 through the audio jack
on my controller. The audio sounded great, and I was even able to use the earbuds
for voice chat with the mic on the earbuds. The other impressive feature offered here
is the UVnano. The UVnano works automatically during the charging of your earbuds.
It only takes ten minutes for the UVnano to sanitize your earbuds. When the case
is closed and the earbuds are in place, a combination of a nanometer and UV LEDs
kill up to 99.9% of bacteria in and around the actual earbuds.
The battery life is typically 10 hours, but you can use the fully charged case to get a max
of 30hours of use before having to find an outlet somewhere.
The earbuds also come with a dimensional sound system from Meridian. It’s a system
similar to Dolby surround with 3D directional and spatial audio. Meridian sound systems
can be found in Range Rover and Jaguar vehicles as well as other high end applications.
The directional audio is very precise and and very robust. The TF8s use Meridian’s HSP
to improve the acoustics in the earbuds. Headphone Spatial Processing improves the unnatural
soundstage that typically occurs with traditional headphones. The system uses cross talk
between the right and left channels in combination with special filters to replicate the
acoustic shadowing caused by the user’s own head. It tries to create a more natural
and stable out of the head soundstage without effecting overall tone or balance.
The HSP is actually pretty effective as it does sound like the audio is coming from outside
the head, as if you weren’t really wearing the buds.
In addition to the HSP, the TF8s have a Hybrid ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) Technology
that helps to filter out unwanted background audio while in use. Traditional ANC uses
one set of microphones, either on the outside or on the inside to try to filter unwanted noises out.
Hybrid ANC uses a mic on both the outside and the inside to better measure and filter the
background noises.
The design itself is pretty comfortable, especially with the Swivel Grip and soft Eargel adapters.
There are additional size adapters included with the buds for slightly larger or smaller ears.
Cleaning is easy, especially since the case sanitizes the buds every time they are charged.
However you can even give them a quick light rinse down as these are IP67 rated. These
are dust and water resistant for up to 30minutes in one meter of water.
The buds will give you their best performance when using both at the same time, but they
can also work individually with either bud being left in the case. You can refer to the included
manual for tap functionality and available features.
Calls are very clear on both ends of the line. I have even started using these instead of my vehicle’s
built in hands free kit, as the tone and clarity is so much higher than the speakerphone in the car.
I used to have a difficult time trying to understand people with accents through the car’s speakerphone
as some of the bass and treble are washed away with other noises through the speakers.
It is so much easier to actually hear the syllables being pronounced through these buds.
If you download the LG Tone Free app, you can have a lot more control over the earbuds, by swapping
between the ambient and noise cancelling modes as well as adjusting the EQ features. Through the app
you can even have the buds read your incoming texts. You can change the tap/touch functionality for
each bud, and even use it to locate your lost buds.
Overall these are very comfortable, and have incredible sound and bass. The features are just as impressive
as the sound quality. I just can’t believe how much they packed into such a small lightweight device.
These will now be the new standard that I will judge other buds by.

I am a big fan of earbuds. I use them everyday in various environments, including home, working out, in the office, at coffee shops, and on airplanes. Having used various earbuds from various brands that range from value to premium, cheap to expensive, I know that price and brand is not everything. When I had the opportunity to get the LG TONE Free Fit earbuds in my hands, I was excited.
Earbuds Design and Fit
The design of these earbuds (and charging case) are pretty awesome. Both look sleek and simple. One comment is that I appreciate the textured design of the case. I wish that extended to the buds themselves, but that’s neither here nor there. The bottom line is that this product looks great. The fins that come with the buds work great too, keeping the buds securely in my ears without falling out. They have some ventilation slits in the fins, which helps keep your ears cool and from sweat from making them slip out of place. I was also impressed with how small the actual buds are. Bravo!
Charging Case
I love how compact design of the charging case. It is much smaller than I expected and fits in my pocket quite nicely. The textured finish also makes the not only makes the case look attractive, it also helps make it a bit more grippy compared to something like the smooth, plastic finish of Apple’s AirPods Pro. One downside of the case design is that it lacks a lanyard loop, so I cannot tie something to this.
One of the interesting and unique features of the charging case is the UV-C light that is designed to kill what is advertised as 99.9% of bacteria on the eargels when charging. It supposedly takes 10 minutes to complete its sanitizing cycle. Now, I cannot independently verify that it does in-fact clean all the bacteria off with UV light, so I will have to take LG’s word that it does what it is supposed to. Given how often we sweat during workouts, and general ear gunk, this is a nice feature to have.
Sound
I was pretty disappointed with the sound quality of these buds. Music sounded pretty flat as opposed to the rich bass that I generally enjoy. There are five equalizer presets, but none of them helped the sound quality much. There is even a bass boost preset, and it was not at all what I prefer. For audiophiles, there are two custom options to set your own equalizer settings, but they don’t make much sense to me. Also, related to sound, is the max volume capabilities. Volume seemed to be pretty low to me, even with my phone set to its highest volume setting. I have lower-end earbuds that get louder than these LG buds. With that said, one can side with LG as you really should not have loud audio from headphones or earbuds, especially ones that go inside your years. So if you want something with deep bass and loud capabilities, these buds are not for you.
Noise cancellation options range from off, to ambient sound, to complete noise cancellation. Each worked as advertised and I think work just as good as some competing earbuds, including the likes of Apple AirPods Pro and Jaybird Vista 2. For most situations, I am sure the actual noise cancellation feature works fine, but I would caution if you truly need active noise cancellation for loud environments.
Audio latency was pretty good. I was able to watch videos from the likes of Netflix and YouTube with no disruption and everything seemed to sync well. The LG Tone Free app also has a “Game Mode” which is supposed to further reduce latency of the earbuds. I have not tried this option, but if you’re a big gamer, then this option exists.
Overall
Looking back at the past week of using the LG Tone Free Fit earbuds, I like them. I was able to use them at home, in the office, and during some gym and outdoor workouts. They fit well, look great, and sound alright.
With that said, if you want something that has great audio quality and superb noise cancellation, I would caution against these and look elsewhere. If you are searching for earbuds that not only look great, but has some pretty great features (i.e.: noise cancellation and UV sanitizing capabilities), these would be an excellent option to consider.

These earbuds are a welcome surprise from LG. I had no idea LG even made earbuds until I found these. They actually are close to other much more expensive earbuds I’ve had from brands known for them. Setup and programming are super simple with the Tone LG app. Both of the earbuds have tap controls that can be programmed to do different things in the app. The change between noise canceling and and ambient sounds is quite different, much more so than another high quality pair I have. You can change between the two modes by touching either earbud and holding or you can do it in the app. Noise canceling is very, very impressive. Switching to ambient dramatically lowers the volume and allows outside sounds through. There are five different equalizer settings in the app that noticeably change the sound. Overall sound quality is very good if not great. Being a huge bass fan, they deliver a little less bass even in bass boost than my other earbuds. However this is definitely not a deal breaker. The case is very smart looking and charges the earbuds when placed in it. The case itself is charged with a USB-C cord. The only negative thing I can say is that the pieces that hold them into your ear are a little odd and not as comfortable as others I’ve used. But again, not that bad. Overall for the money and paired with the Tone app, these are pretty amazing.

I recently reveived a pair of the LG TONE Free Fit TF8Q wireless earbuds and I am incredibly impressed. Though they aren’t the best out there, the sound quality is good and the design is sleek, stylish and comfortable. The earbuds have Bluetooth 5.0 and offer a reliable connection with very little latency. The battery life is quite impressive and lasts up to 8 hours on a single charge. The earbuds also come with a charging case that can provide up to 16 additional hours of battery life.
The earbuds are equipped with Meridian Audio technology which delivers a rich, immersive sound quality with deep, powerful bass and clear treble. The earbuds also come with active noise cancellation which helps to reduce background noise and improves sound quality.
The LG TONE Free Fit TF8Q wireless earbuds are also very easy to set up and use. They can be connected to your device in seconds and the touch controls make it easy to control your music and take calls without ever having to take your phone out of your pocket. The earbuds also come with a companion app that allows you to customize the sound settings and manage the earbuds. The UV disinfecting lights inside the case are a brilliant addition, also!
Overall, I am very pleased with the LG TONE Free Fit TF8Q wireless earbuds. They offer excellent sound quality, reliable connection, long battery life, and comfortable design. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a great pair of wireless earbuds.

I didn’t want to like these – I’m primarily the red fruit guy because of the way they integrate into my ecosystem. How ever ever trying these I might have a different option. This is a really great set of ear buds. I start with the negative and they are few
1. They don’t not have all of the features that my ecosystem branded buds do
2. The button tap is very sensitive – if you have the adjust the bud at all your going to engage at least one tap
Now the mediocre
1. Noise cancelation – these are about a good as any ear buds can be, but they do leave a little to be desired, there are better out there but i wouldn’t say the difference is substantial
Now I’ll just highlight the positives
1. Comfort – actual forgot I had these in – stop the music and walk out off my office and wounded why convos were muffled
2. Sound – the sound is very true with out any adjustments – bas may be a little low but not by a large margin – that being said I typically don’t use any adjustment on ear bud however with these that were they really shine – I find the 3d stage to be excellent for music listen and it increase the enjoyment of my time listen, not sure I would use it for heavy voice conversations or video watch – maybe just a bass boost for that
3. Charge – they actually performed for me in music better than advertised
4. The ability to use them with a headphone jack – hadn’t seen this on any other however being able to just walk in and plug into a headphone jack with out having to bluetooth connect makes them the most versist earbuds I have
5. Voice call – according to people the best sounding earbud – very clear voice
Overall LG really hit a homerun with these – if you can live without the ecosystem features I would highly recommend these – you won’t be disappointed

I have had these for an exteneded time before submitting and altering my review. Now as a base reference I have not found anything that I like more than the Soundcore Liberty 2 earbuds. They are the loudest and most “full” sound that I have found. Also would like to preface by saying I have some hearing damage due to infections while I was a child so “loud” buds are an absolute must for me….and I’m a General Contractor so I am around loud noises all the time and my earbuds must overcome ALL THAT in order to be functional for me. That out of the way I have to say these LG Tone Free Fit Buds have grown on me. They have the volume I need in order to hear and while they do requre you to adjust them back in through the day…I’m not touching my ears every 2 minutes like some I have…. especially if I’m sweating or in the rain. They are VERY comfortable and using them approx 9 hours a day every day for multiple weeks while testing them, I NEVER had a sore ear or wanted to stop using them. I LOVE that they are dust and water resistant (IP67)! Given my daily environment that is piece of mind….and these have been through some dusty concrete work, sheetrock dust, pressure washing and rain days and are still working perfectly. I would like to say that you have to make sure that they are dry and so is your ear before placing them in or they will constantly feel like they are at the brink of falling out or actually will fall out. In additon, while they are touch pad operated they will play/pause on you while adjusting them in you ear or wiping sweat from your head and face using your t-shirt sleeve. This is pretty much the case with all touch earbuds without a physical button though. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE the ANC on these. I have used it to block out the noise of running small engines, equipment engines, background and wind noise etc and it works pretty good compared to others. What I mean is that it does what it says and doesnt completely kill the battery in just a couple to a few hours. It does use more battery but you can run them for a couple hours with ANC on and then use the “pass through” mode to hear your environment around you and have conversations and you’re not chasing down your charger just cause you used the features they come with. I have Liberty 3 buds that have both these modes and run time is severly reduced when using those modes making them absolutely useless. I run a business and I need buds in my ear while working all day and not to be chasing a charger or having them in the case….that kind of mentality defeats the purpose of having them…for me anyway.
The app is easy to use and allows you to adjust your touch controls to be basically whatever you want on either ear. It also allows the change of the EQ to some presets (that actually sound really good) and also allows you to build custom EQ profiles so you can set it exactly how you want it. I do wish some of the features in the presets where available to use in the custom profiles though. Like bass boost, etc. AND your own EQ settings together. Nevertheless they sound great with the provided setups and with custom tuning.
They were easy to pair with multiple devices with no issues connecting or staying connected. They have pretty good range. When I first got them my phone stayed in the truck on the charger while I worked building a deck and fixing siding and gutters for a week and I had to walk really far away for them to start to break up. They have a feature that kills bacteria on the ear gels if you put them in the case and the case is plugged into a charger. They will turn on a UV light inside for 10 minutes and kill the nasties on your eargels. Thats pretty unique and a nice feature to have.
Now if you go to the gym, go on planes or other venues that have a shared audio jack…you can plug the case into the jack of the plane etc and you have wireless buds to listen and move around. THAT is really cool if you use that type of expierence with public audio. Furthermore you could do this with devices you already own too…all you need is an old school headphone jack and these will connect to it.
I got almost 9 hours of playback of audio, the entire time listening to podcasts while working. I get approx 7ish hours if using ANC and pass through modes for a couple hours here and there through the day. That is excellent performance in my opnion. I have about 12 or 14 sets of buds and none that have ANC last like this.
All in all, they sound great, they don’t move around and fall out as much as other, they are comfortable to extended use, water/dustproof, have GREAT RUN TIME, are customizable and have some unique features like public audio connectivity and UV gearm killing. I have put them through some rough use and condtions and they are still operating perfectly so I would wholeheartely recommed these to anyone looking for a great sound and awesome battery life but stll needs ANC and passthrough modes intermitantly through the day…or even just for a workout session the entire time. I like them a lot. They permanently ride in the truck with me and they go in my ears when I get in the truck in the morning and they dont come out until they die late late afternoon. I have another set that I pop in to drive home and run errands at the end of a long long day everyday. I start at 6 am and I dont get home until 9pm most days. Yes, these are great! Buy them!
LG, the packaging is lame and the grammatical language barrier errors in the manual are not what should be expected for buds in this price range from a company as big as LG.

Great set of earbuds. Ended up returning, but had good functionaltiy with IOS products through the app, quick resume, noise cancelling, transparency modes, etc. Only issue was quality of the product lasting and sound was very low.
Steveo282 –
These are comfortable, easy to use and they pair fast!! LG has come along way!
WilliamW –
Work well. Not as good as stated on blocking wind and outside noises
AnthonyH –
I am a wireless earbuds fan. With these LG earbuds is ok compare to the other like JBLs.
MaiMai –
Good. Just doesnt have wireless charging capabilities.
SMTT –
Could be better. To loud at times which cause your ears to ring. Too much feedback when on the phone.
BradleyJ –
They are comfortable and easy to use and are easy to set up on you device and they have a cool feature that lets you use them on devices that don’t have bluetooth capabilities.
AnkithK –
This is a solid pair of noise cancelling earbuds. They are waterproof and can easily be washed out and on the immersive setting, they offer great sound.
The wingtips do provide stability and do not fall out after intense exercise. but they is a noticeable gap between the bottom of your ear and the earbud. In contrast, AirPods and airpod pro have a tight seal in this area, so going from them to this, I always feel like the lg buds aren’t secure enough even though they are.
pass through audio could be a little better. I think this needs to be fixed with an update to make it better.
In fact I don’t like how finicky and low quality the app was. Lg if u are reading this, pls tell your devs to make major updates to the app. It has a 2 star rating on the App Store, that should be enough to tell your developers how poor it is. There are quite a few bugs. Also find my needs to be updated to report location of the case and it needs to be improved a lot.
I think these are one of the best exercise earbuds with wing tips on the market currently. But a lot of work needs to be done by lg devs to fix the app

Kind of bulky and the sound quality was only average.
ChefMatt –
Perfect. With me wherever I go. Once didn’t have one in quite securely and it fell into soapy water. Right back in ear and worked perfectly. Sound quality is unreal.

Best Earbuds for listening to music while working out.
Fit great and don’t even notice they are while providing excellent sound
stutech –
Really good sound quality for being so small. The build quality also feels really nice and high quality. My only complaint would be they could make the battery life slightly longer. Using the app to tune the equalizer profile is also really an awesome feature. I would say these are on par or better than beats in terms of sound. One really neat feature is that it seems to support higher fidelity Bluetooth codecs that my Motorola phone can do for spacial audio. If you’re on the fence about buying you won’t be disappointed.

I will keep this review short. These buds are some of the best I’ve ever used. The comfort, security in-ear, and features really set these apart. That being said, there is one major flaw that baffles me. Wireless charging is missing from these. I don’t understand why they didn’t add it. There other pair of buds with a tail, at the same price point, has wireless charging. No having this feature ruins the buds for me. I do everything with wireless charging. Unfortunately, its making me looking for other options.
LakishaG –
Ear buds will not connect to my iPhone 14 easy. They connect once initially and then they were not able to connect once the case was closed.
IgorB –
Very good headphones. Perfect fit without fear to lose them.
Used headphones case as a transmitter connected to whisper device during the trip to Europe and enjoyed total wireless freedom.
Carl –
Good sound and send to connect will to multiple devices. Is a little uncomfortable after prolonged wearing and occasionally had a ringing sound when I put them on in noise canceling move.

Buy something else. I had these delivered at the end of May. It’s now the end of August and the left speaker has blown and is non functional anymore. The case dies after a single use and the headphones won’t come on (even if they have a charge) until you plug the case up. So they have a charge but are useless until you can get to an outlet.
I’ve contacted customer service, but they’re already preparing me with the “we aren’t responsible for moisture damage.” Yes, I use them to workout but only lifting weights. I don’t use them for cardio. I don’t use them in a steam room. We will see what they say after they get them in the mail, but if I could get my money back now instead of a replacement, I would. Noise canceling is ok, about all you can expect from an in the ear headphone.

I own three different LG audio products. Unfortunately, this pair has been returned LG for repair twice. Once the product is fixed, I’d give it 5 stars. Great sound and the buds stay in the ears as advertised.
BigH –
These are definitely sleepers, need better advertising for consumer awareness. Everything is good, nothing great. Except the fit. These are the most secure buds I’ve ever owned without an ear hook. Fast reliable connection, with multi point, while being waterproof. I use them in the shower daily.

The sound quality was amazing i loved it! 10/10 recommend!

They sound great. And I like the antibacterial light in there also.

Great headphones. Highly durable and solid sound. Issue with right earbud but it is under warranty so will be able to be repaired.
