    The design and performance are weak at best. We purchased the KitchenAid Appliances for our new kitchen/home because we thought would be great quality. Unfortunately, it is not the case. The directions and quick links are difficult to read as they are too low and too dark. One needs to bend over too much and turn on bright lights. There is no backlight.the temperature regulator is way off. Good is way to hot and then dry to eat. The sensor boils a half cup of tea. If I had to do over, I would buy the Sharp. The design is more user friendly. The functions are better placed and turn up toward user. . Because I wanted all KitchenAid appliances , I opted for this drawer microwave. Huge mistake.

    Nearly $2K for a design that vents moisture near a seam in the housing that affects the electronics. If you heat anything longer than 2 minutes, the touchpad is unresponsive. BUT – never fear….you can go throw the breaker, turn it back on and viola! It will work. SERIOUSLY??

    Poor design. Steam from anything you heat vents across the control panel causing it to start a random cycle after about 3 minutes of use. Panel is then unresponsive and won’t allow you to cancel the phantom cycle. Looks good but isn’t practical to use.

    Didn’t think I would like a drawer microwave. however it is really a nice to have in the cabinet instead of over the range (especially if you are vertically challenged). Does the job as promised.

    While I have only used it once, I was happy! It worked great! Just make sure you put on the lock feature, otherwise, you’ll turn it on without noticing if you brush up against it as you walk by!

    Expensive piece of garbage. We’re on our second one and ready to return it. These are all defective. The first one stopped heating after two days. The second one stopped heating after 1 week. The issue is the door does not close all the way. You have to press it in just a tiny *hair* in order to get the heating element to engage becuse the “close” button wont close it right. There is space between the door and the outside of the unit so you feel the heat waves as it cooks and can also see the light. The display gets foggy when cooking because of this. I wish I never bought this and I think returning it for a 3rd is just going to show the same issues.

    If you are looking for a quality drawer microwave, this is it. Quality is awesome and the features are outstanding. I havent used much of it yet but just the initial use is fun. Installation notes, ensure your cabinets are measured correctly for proper fit.

    There is no need for a microwave to be this complicated!!!!!
    It really is ridiculous to push so many buttons to microwave something. An expensive piece of junk! It is like going back in time. How is the world can a person hit clear and there Still be .6 sec. Left? Hit clear again and now it is .61 sec? Clear should be CLEAR! Where did .6 sec come from in the first place??? Sharp and Kitchenaid you dropped the ball.

    Microwave began malfunctioning less than a year after installation. The electronic panel created a fire hazard where the microwave continued cooking food after timer ended or turn on by itself.

    I owned this for 30 days. The first time I cooked a SINGLE chicken breast, the user display fogged over from the steam, and the control panel ceased to respond to button pushes…locking the food in the microwave. I attempted to resolve with KitchenAid, but they have decided to stick their head in the sand. So I returned, and as usual, Best Buy is great about that.

    Looks great in the space and the drawer slides out nicely. We had delivered 11-22-22. HOWEVER, it just will randomly NOT heat up the food/water that we put in it. I tried three times this morning to make oatmeal and it just didn’t cook it. The fourth time it worked. What should have taken one minute ended up taking almost 6. We tried to warm up water and it was the same temp. That ended up taking two rounds of trying it again. Going to contact Best Buy once the agents are available. You also have to be careful with the display buttons as they’re very easy to touch. We decided to “lock” the buttons until we need to use it so they aren’t accidentally pushed. Disappointed in the microwave.

    This unit feels well built. I did the install, after my handyman quoted me $180 to open up a new microwave cabinet a half inch on both sides to accommodate this appliance. I like this unit, its been about 4 months. Especially after figuring out how to change the annoying factory defrost mode which stops the machine every 2.5 minutes (to rotate, rearrange meat) requiring you press continue 4 times on a 15 defrost. Its not a blaster power microwave, but it does the job well enough for us. If you need a super power microwave, find another.

    We loved this microwave. It’s beautiful and it worked so well for about 10 months. Then it broke. kitchenaid came out and repaired because it was under warranty. We had to wait a month for the part. Then we we loved it again for almost 2 months. Then it broke again. The same issue as before. I’m beyond disappointed.

    This thing didn’t work right immediately after installation. I microwaved some food and the buttons locked up afterwards. You could see steam build up where the timer is and once the steam went away, the buttons started working again. This has happens regularly after microwaving food and we only had it installed a month ago. I put in a service call and the technician told me that it is perfectly normal for the buttons to lock up like that and that it can’t be fixed. I called Kitchenaid customer service and they said it was normal too. I have never heard of it being normal to have microwave buttons not work and it be “normal”. Total piece of junk – and expensive too.

    The Control panel only lights up in the center. Very hard to see control panel. My Sharp control panel flipped up and was easy to see.

    We have two ovens which left no space for a microwave, so we had to get the microwave drawer. It works fine, but there are about 14 “buttons” on both sides of the clock display with no backlight. The panel is very difficult to read unless you stoop over or squat down to read the options. It is poorly designed.

    Was questionable about having to bend down and put my stuff into a microwave now that it’s in. I wish I would’ve got this year’s ago. It’s beautiful works excellent we love our KitchenAid microwave drawer.
