Great. Looks great and easy to install. Kitchenaid is a great product.

  2. Donny

Great. Great great great great great
Great great great great great great

  3. Chef214

Overall, the microwave looks pretty good, but the glass plate constantly falls off and has to be put back on after every use, which is a pain in the butt! The notch in the dish should have been deeper so it would sit secure on the plastic piece for the turntable motor. I wish kitchenaid would redesign the glass dish.

  4. greatmicrowave

I LOVE this microwave. Cooks great, crisp things stay crisp, no more soggy bottom pizza. Saves alot of space over the range. I can actually see my cook top now.. The only thing is this microwave is loud, but still a great purchase, and looks great in my kitchen..

  5. yoshacmi

Microwave is great, works really well, set up was easy. Fans are not super great though. Even though these are pretty powerful fans, I noticed while boiling some water it didn’t seem to be drawing any of the steam in, at all. Not sure if that’s a placement issue or what but even on high setting the steam just went straight up and around the microwave.

  6. Bones

Love all the features especially the gentle tone. My old microwave had a fog horn so loud it even scared the birds outside. Plus it helps your memory as you SHOULD remember what you are microwaving. Cudos to Kitchen Aid.

  7. OscarP

When buying it I had doubts about the size, now installed at home the size is perfect, there is no difference with one of regular sizes, with times I have to put more time to meals than with my previous microwave. Beautiful but no powerful

  8. Chris

Great quiet microwave that looks great in our newly remodeled kitchen. Would recommend this to anyone.

  9. Kimber

I love this low profile microwave! I have more room above my stove for removing pot lids and canning. The microwave is very sleek and does a great job of reheating my food.

  10. Quiet

Great looks but a very noisy exhaust fan on all 4 levels. The glass turntable is constantly falling off the wheels. Dish and food have fallen out when pressing open door button. Plastic track is triangular and the reason glass turntable keeps falling off track.

My wife wanted to keep our limited counterspace clear or clutter and our old microwave used up a lot of counter space……We absolutely love this new product….It is manufactured very well, easy to install and operate…..Gives our kitchen a much nicer and cleaner appearance…..I would recommend this product….

  12. KarenM

Perfect size and match for my decor. Quiet and efficient.

  13. DianeB

I was really worried buying this without seeing it the store. I was worried it might stick out to far but it’s perfect. This thing works great and it’s so much nicer to have the space above my stovetop.

  14. Whirlpool

My wife wanted more room above the stove top for her pressure canner, this did the trick. works great.

  15. CindyL

I’m so very happy with our knew microwave and have so much space now on my counters…. Don’t go to Home Depot when it comes to Mayor Appliances! I learned my lesson, and it wasn’t a good one. BEST BUY is where I bought my knew Screen Tv and Ring Camera with Video. Going only to Best Buy… Thank you all for such great service

  16. KathyS

Love the thin sleek design , Perfect size for what we needed

  17. Pablo

This thing is the most unreliable piece of kitchen equipment I have ever had the displeasure of using. I’ve had to get a technician to come out 4 times now (and counting), and every time they can’t fix the issue. The fans just refuse to turn on sometimes for the ventilation. If you never cook, and just use a microwave, maybe this $1000 microwave is acceptable to you (or maybe a $50 model would be better), but if you do any kind of cooking at all and you need ventilation, you should pass. Heaven forbid you actually try to get a replacement with KitchenAid, they’ll send 20 technicians to your house at random hours of the day before they even think of it, but they’ll definitely send you a warranty extension (paid of course) for your pile of $1000 over the range junk. My family and I have spent thousands on KitchenAid products, but I think this may be the last penny I ever give them willingly. I can’t believe a product could be this defective with service this bad.

  18. Rick

Did not include the plate support ring. Had to order it separately

  19. PattyC

I’m really enjoying my above range microwave and it fits very nicely

  20. Kimberly

PERFECT. simple amd sleek. this microwave instantly revamped my kitchen and made everything look much cleaner. it is also the perfect size and easy to use.

  21. KenP

Our bulky over-the-range microwave is history. This slim unit is perfect so far. Could use a louder ready signal, but that’s my only gripe. Looks great.

  22. luisbartogomez

Thiis moicrowave is perfect for my basement kitchen project

  23. Photos

Nice dependable product. Returned product to a l at therapy unit.

  24. zf2023

The door on the microwave started squeaking after one month of use. We really only use the microwave for warming up dishes, we do not cook in it. I am not sure why all of a sudden the door is squeaking. I is really annoying. I am planing to contact Kitchen Aid to find out what lubricant I need to use. I saw some suggestions on line, but I want to confirm with their CS. The door also shoots out when I push the “open button”. My husband got hit in his forehead. Thus I gave only 4 starts. Other than that it works well, we love the sleek look and the fan is super strong. Although laud, it circulates th air very well. The light is great, I use it when I cook all the time.

  25. Thedb

Great microwave, so far. I switched my old over-the-stove microwave out, primarily to gain more space between the microwave and the burners below it. Now, I have plenty of space in my microwave for our needs, but have gained a ton of useful work-space above my cooktop. Works well. Great design. Cons to date are minor: the design is sleek and clean with most buttons hidden. But, the unnecessarily large Kitchen Aid logo detracts from that nice design. It also means you have to open the microwave door to get to most of the function buttons.

  26. JACE

Slim microwave with a lot of features. Interior space meets all my needs. Very easy to keep clean. Looks great too.

  27. Topdog

Excellent microwave. Perfect size for what we use it for but it freed up so much space over the cooktop. It looks very sleep and the automatic door opening is a cool feature. I can’t believe how low the old microwave came down over the oven we could never go back now. It is the perfect middle ground between a hood and a microwave. The exhaust is actually very powerful on this and much stronger than your average microwave, more like a good.

  28. DarrenR

We love the stream lined look of this microwave. It’s actually our second one.

  29. Artist

Love this less tall microwave. Gives lots of room over the range and nothing has been too tall for it.

  30. ShawnK

I bought a new house and the OTR microwave broke within 2 months. I never had an OTR microwave before, so I started doing research. I wanted more space for the cook top, so I started looking at low profile microwaves. Since my old microwave had a recycled exhaust, I wanted a good exhaust. The KitchenAid had one of the highest exhaust capabilities (CFM). So far, so good! The exhaust is powerful (which means it is louder at full blast) and has 3 settings.

Overall, very happy with the microwave. It looks very nice and performance is great. Glad I purchased.

  31. AmosD

    Great over the range microwave
    Slim, easy to use microwave

  32. Xander

This is a beautiful microwave. It is very streamlined and is much more attractive than the bulky over the range microwaves of the past. The hidden control panel is a nice feature. Heats up water very quickly and the fan is quite strong.

  33. AnaluciaW

Amazing space saving and what a difference the power is in heating of the food. Super fast and conveniently placed above the stove.

  34. Quiet

This microwave is sleek and works great! I’ve saved so much counter space converting to an over the range microwave.

  35. RobM

We bought this to fit an existing over the range microwave. After install we didn’t like the height and it seemed like we were reaching up to take hot things out. Shorter family members will have an issue reaching it.

The product does look great and seems well built. We ended up returning it and got a countertop model.

  36. Sandie

So far I love it! My other appliances are white, but this is
SS, and even though, it still looks great. I love the overhead fan and light features, plus cooking is very good.

  37. AkhlaqA

Really nice looking unit. Work very well so far no issues.

  38. DonaldM

The microwave hood is the perfect size. It takes my Pampered Chef Rice cooker as well as a large platter. The light and fan work very well in our new kitchen.

  39. Motologist

We bought this unit to replace our separate countertop microwave and vent hood. I chose the KitchenAid because it had the highest number of vent settings and the highest CFM rating of any low profile microwave/vent combination. The vent does a great job clearing smoke and steam when I’m cooking on the stovetop. The microwave has tons of features my wife and I use frequently. It does a great job reheating leftovers and melting butter. So far so good, I cannot complain.

  40. MichaelP

    Perfect over our gas cooktop.
Perfect size to cook anything we have.

  41. Chyhart

This is a combination microwave and oven range hood. It is also one of the most powerful of its kind with 500 CFM Motor Class2 venting strength. If you’re not in need of that, there are brands like Whirlpool, or Samsung that offer range hood combos in the $350 range, those have 400 CFM venting strength. Not sure why the extra 100 CFM warrants $400 price increase, maybe cause this is the only one offering 500 CFM that I know of? So if all you need is a microwave, this is way overkill for you.

  42. WilliamM

Looks great. Very modern and streamlined. Works well too

  43. Unknown

Love this microwave, easy to use heats perfectly senior cooking great

  44. DeborahA

Looks sleek. Works well. Fan, even on low, is louder than I like for continuous use but works well when cooking.

  45. MilaP

Good looking microwave but it is a little loud when fan is on. Also when the door is open, we have to be careful not to get hurt with the bottom corner of the micro. The fan is ok, I believe is 400 CFM and the air recirculates, no exterior duct yet…It is powerful and it heats evenly.

  46. Itchyzip

Good microwave. Kinda short but thats the idea. just know a lot of things won’t fit. If you are ok with that , then its great. I was willing to sacrifice that height. it did break down after 3

  47. BobD

As a range hood with 500cfm rating we have found this unit much quieter than expected, though at highest speed it’s notably louder (and moving *much* more air) than a 400cfm unit from another brand that is likely made in the same factory.

Dimensions are a frequent question and were of real interest to me when shopping: I wanted the smallest possible intrusion into the over-range space, so as to be the least distraction to the cook.
Height: 10 1/4″ per marketing; 10 5/16″ per Q&A. It is 10 1/4″ on the side face. The lip at the mounting plate’s base adds 1/64″. The inevitable sag off the front mounting bolts adds 3/64″. So yeah, installed it’s gonna be 10 1/4 at the rear and 10 5/16″ at the front. No big deal in itself, *but* this could make the opened door swing into the kitchen when left ajar. If leaving an oven door ajar is part of your cooking style, you might want to install the rear mounting plate 1/32″-1/16″ low to balance the door swing.
Depth: 18″ marketing, 18 5/16″ installed. The unit’s side faces are 18″ but the rear includes several protrusions that the mounting plate accomodates. I somehow overcame my temptation to tear out the sheetrock, notch the studs, and put in new sheetrock to gain back the “lost” airspace above the range. The extra 5/16″ has been less of an issue than expected, so I’ll leave it as is.
Width: 30″ marketing, 29 7/8″ in some other place (installation manual, maybe?) The chassis 29 7/8″ and the side’s sheet metal has enough flex to bow out and close the gap in a 30″ cabinet opening. This makes a much easier install without scraping up the unit or your cabinets on the way in. The sides’ sheet metal flexes out 1/32″ on each side to touch the side cabinets for a nice clean & flush look.

Venting efficiency: Very good, I’d say excellent for a sub-600cfm hood. Keep in mind any vent 500cfm or greater requires an air-balancing intake into the house. Any exhaust greater than 200cfm really will tax your living space’s ability to leak in enough air to balance, and as you approach 400cfm only the draftiest houses will leak in enough to keep from drawing in bad air (from a gas furnace system, radon-trapping crawl space, etc). So before you crank up the speed past 2, crack a window 1-2″; for max running, don’t be afraid to give yourself a full 2 square feet of open window for air-balance inflow.

Grease traps: this is one of my pet peeves with household range hoods: why do they all use aluminum mesh? The downsized “restaurant-style” grease traps really work, they’re easy to remove, and so much easier to actually clean. Finally a household level option that is designed to be maintained! Just remember: while they’ve made it so-o much easier to maintain, you still have to do it. Try cleaning them, frying a seared-steak, burger or bacon meal, and pulling them out right after: voila, there is your meal’s exhaust, ready to wash right along with the pots & pans! And it’s a good learning moment to learn which meals put how much grease into our kitchen exhaust systems.

Venting range exhaust into the indoor space: I saw this comment on several reviews and I think the concern is warranted. I installed as a rear-exhaust through wall, with a 90-degree to vertical 7″ duct, without a damper for maximum air flow – and in part because I thought a poorly installed or obstructed damper might be a source of these complaints. This did not reduce recirculation to zero: the front vents (ostensibly for the microwave’s operation and venting only) do return some small amount of dirty air into the kitchen. This makes sense to me – if the microwave is venting its own air, that air must be coming from under the unit, and that’s the same air I’m trying to get rid of. I’ve still got more to look into on this, but for now I’ve covered the left-side vent with a fridge magnet and that takes care of it enough for us. It’s easily removable as I wouldn’t want to go against manufacturer recommendations when using the microwave.

We replaced an old Venmar dedicated range hood with this unit. At 800cfm it was more than we needed. Downsizing the this 500cfm unit means we can’t get away with belching out smoke without opening a window, but that’s for the best anyway (we have a gas furnace and a crawl space, so turning the kitchen into an 800cfm negative-pressure vacuum was not our brightest remodeling move). This unit helps remind us the proper source for air balance is the good ol’ kitchen window.

Microwave: it works! I guess! I heated a cup of water from 60 to 150 in about 30 seconds to pre-test before full installation. That’s the last time we’ve used it. We’re not microwave people I guess, and getting a microwave hasn’t yet changed that. Um… it stays clean. it’s big enough for us. The good news, if you’re reading this you’ll find plenty of other reviews with more to say on the microwave! 🙂

  48. MojoMck

Functional and beautiful. Love the smaller size-tall enough for my needs but not bulky and ugly, I really like the streamlined appearance. The customized cooking/reheating/defrost systems are so easy to operate you won’t even need a manual. Lighting, and vent system is efficient and easy to clean. Again, no explanation needed.

  49. user659622

Works great kids made popcorn first thing super quite.

  50. ValerieZ

Love this thin microwave. Nice style and very quite.
    Looks very nice
