    Was told this is an OEM replacement for OLED tv , does not even have all the functions, constantly freezes. Best Buy chat told me to bring it in and they will repair it ? Add functions? Cmon what a joke ! Do not buy absolute trash. And beware of salesman telling you lies !!!

    This purchase was a project. I went to the Yonkers, NY store to purchase this remote because I needed it immediately and the website said they had three Open Box remotes in excellent condition which were advertised at almost half the price of brand new. I went to the rack but there were no open box remotes. The sales rep claimed that none were in stock. I asked how that could be; the rep said they were probably stolen. If someone were going to steal a remote control, wouldn’t they steal a brand new one? The rack was full of brand new remotes. I then went to the store in Riverdale, NY which supposedly also had the same item in stock. I did find it, but when the salesperson scanned it at the register it came up at full price. The salesperson told me it had to be re-entered into inventory and re-ticketed as an Open Box item even though the box had the Open Box tags and condition on it. That took half an hour. When it was ready, the salesperson scanned it again; this time the price came up much higher than what was advertised on the website for Open Box, excellent condition. He advised that the pricing of open box items varies from store to store. I asked him to price match to Best Buy’s website-advertised price. I then had to wait for another ten minutes while he got managerial approval to price match. When I finally got it home and put the batteries in, the power light lit up, but it did not turn on my Bravia KDL-55W800 tv. I spent about forty minutes trying to get it to connect, following the directions in the little brochure. Nothing. I wondered if the previous customer had returned it because it just didn’t work properly. I then tried to get it to connect to my 20 year old Sony tv; it connected immediately, turning the set off. I turned it off and on a couple of times, and played around with the volume and menu settings. It worked. It figures, as I already have a working remote for that set. I was preparing to go back to the store to return the remote when I decided, for the heck of it, to try again to turn on my Sony Bravia with it . NOW IT WORKED!! I wouldn’t have to throw my tv out after all!! It must have somehow “reset” itself when it connected with the other Sony TV. When I pressed the App keys, all of which should have been blank for me to program, Netflix came up. Evidently, this remote was not properly reset and/or tested by Best Buy staff before reselling it to someone else. I am giving it a rating of “Good” rather than excellent because it does not duplicate all of the functions of the original Sony remote, while at the same time it wastes keys on duplicate functions (i.e. the Back button and the Exit button seem to do exactly the same thing) and on functions that do not seem to have a purpose in today’s market (a Digi/Analog button?). The brochure explains how to perform a few functions, but not all, and provides no diagram or “key” to indicate what functions are controlled by buttons that only have symbols. Some buttons seem to do absolutely nothing, but maybe their functionality depends on the tv model or whether you are watching tv using an antenna versus cable or satellite. I am using an antenna to watch broadcast television. I called tech support for information, but they had the same brochure I had and were not given any additional information. However, this remote does have the keys that I need to easily get deep into the tv’s menu to set up internet access, relink correct channel programming within the program guide and perform other features that I was unable to access using an RCA universal remote which did not have all of the required keys.

    One of the reasons I bought his remote was for the channel number pad. The new Sony TV remotes do not have a number pad to enter TV channels directly. While this remote has the numbers, it lacks the dot “.” or dash “-” needed for digital stations. (for example, going to channel 4.1 or 5.3) I will be returning this remote.

    Best buy i ever made! Its like the movie from Click without Kate Beckinsale, or anything else in the movie besides the remote. It works, we put a tile on it, so when it hides we can find it.

    The remote is a commendable replacement to the original remote that came with my TV. It plays well with my TV, though it is missing a few buttons and features. Also, it’s a bit more clicky than the original remote. Otherwise, it’s perfectly fine.

    great remote my old Sony tv remote died from corroded batteries. bought a clone of amazon worked for some time but broke this remote worked great out of the box no codes to learn just point and click. for the price especially how hard it is to get a Sony remote from Sony this product is 5/5 however I do wish the remote had backlight buttons and there was no battery included would have been nice even it was some crappy Chinese battery or Bestbuy brand batteries but no biggie for me. also I do wish this remote had a microphone like the original remote did I know at this price range its pushing but those would have been nice features

    The original Sony TV remote was starting to fail feature by feature. The Insignia replacement is very similar in design to the original Sony remote so it is easy to use. It connected immediately with our TV so there weren’t any issues with programming, which was extremely helpful. Overall, a great product
