This is a MUST HAVE if you bought an Epson projector and plan on watching movies on it. It plays as the “middle-man”, taking the signal from the DVR player and splitting it out, sending the video to the projector, and the audio to your sound system. It works great!
itspepsi –
It worked perfectly for like a week and then it had distorted audio and wouldnt connect to speakers on first try

Can confirm 1080p 120hz works with this paired with a ps5. Have not tried 4k 60hz as it is advertised but the 120hz capability in 1080p tells me it would have no problem doing 60hz in 4k. It’s a simple and sleek product that gets the job done. Now able to channel audio from my ps5 to my Schiit stack and run hdmi to my monitor.
Mrpc –
Not the best but it does work for now . Some issues with it not working properly but that’s expected due to the poor quality.
DavidS –
Works beautifully to export digital audio from the HDMI signal to feed to my sound bar.
Rigo –
Very simple and easy to setup and does great at 1080p but it doesn’t handle 4K HDR well. The video stays consistent but the audio cuts out regularly and makes for an unenjoyable experience. I verified that it wasn’t the cables as they all were capable of the required bandwidth so I don’t know, I wouldn’t recommend it for 4K HDR.

Works as designed. We had no sound in the theatre room, but now we do!! Thank you to the techs that came out. Great job!

Awesome product. Paired with projector it works amazing

Does what is intended to a degree for audio from a graphics card to a surround sound system. It won’t push a Dobly or DTS codec from the HDMI port of the graphics card if you’re only using it for the optical out (no video). You’ll have to download a modded audio driver, edit the EDID, and use spatial audio from DTS or Dolby. I ended up buying a sound card because it kept causing resolution issues with certain games because it is viewed as an additional monitor. If you can live with that it does what you need it to.

For most folks this will work as expected, but for me it was stuck at 1080p60 on my 1080p240 monitor, i had to manually create a custom resolution to get 1080p240 to work. But it works, unlike some capture cards that can capture 4K60 and 1080p60 and refuse to tolerate high refresh rates.

So this product works as advertised HOWEVER- has major design flaw. The hdmi display will flicker every so often. I use this for my PS5 and it happens At terrible times.

I’ve been using a Roku device plugged into a gifted projector that had no audio out nor bluetooth and the sound quality was horrible! Finally found this little device and will be able to keep my current setup. I paired this with a bluetooth receiver and my problem is no more! Product was simple to setup. Plugged the Roku into the HDMI in port, plugged the aux from the bluetooth receiver into the audio out and used another hdmi cable to connect to projector. Even better that I found it near my house in an open box item in excellent condition. SCORE 2 for Best Buy and for Insignia.

Bought 3 of them used for months no longer work and non returnable. This is not a good product to sell to consumer If it defective and only usable few month.

Doesnt display over 1080p and dosent have good sound quality i would not recommend this product to somebody that is trying to play on xbox or any console or audio device that dosent have digital optical port i would recommend spending more for a better verison of one

it worked for a week only then broke. Will not recommend

I needed something to work with my vintage analog receiver to run into an HDMI Oppo BD player and this little audio extractor gadget saved the day. Much better than an external DCA. Highly reconneded.

When trying to extract the audio of some components via HDMI, this is the way to go.
Price is fair compare to other products, is very easy to setup and use.

I purchased this to get better audio out of my Xbox. I use a Roku Streambar (soundbar and streaming device in one). Unfortunately Roku required an optical port that my TV was too old to have. This box solved my problem.
StephenH –
I purchased this to try and pipe my PC audio to my home audio system over optical connection. It’s very lossy, and causes constant disconnects of your monitor. Even when forcing the monitor refresh rate down to 60 or 59.9 hz. I ended up just buying a sound blaster sxfi instead.

Easy to use and connect
Came with easy instructions and even though it was floor model it was pristine
BruceL –
Works great, did exactly what I needed it for.
Had a problem getting sound from sound bar. This worked great
Brass –
Product works great except it has no volume control and as others have stated pluging in headphones WILL damage your hearing. This product ABSOLUTLEY MUST start puting a warning label on it.
Bonz –
I like this device it really works as intended to and the sound quality in the picture quality is excellent
JohnJ –
Perfect for converting older audio receivers to use on the newer devices.
RobertM –
Works beautifully easy Plug and Play works very well with my monitor for my game systems

I’ve had this extractor for my Xbox Series X in order to have surround audio for maybe a year. For the last 6 months, the device only works if positioned perfectly. If I bump it in the slightest the video signal goes out and my monitor goes black. Whenever I move my setup (I do a lot) I sit for at least 20 minutes positioning the extractor just right to actually give a video signal, and even then a chair shift or a foot bump causes it to malfunction. I am past the return period so I am just going to throw it out and buy a different company’s product

Great small compact device that works well with our video equipment. Was an easy smooth process
MES1944 –
Did not work with TV software to ghet desired result.
AreaMan –
I bought this because I have a Blu-Ray player with no analog audio outputs and no way to provide input to my portable speakers with the projector attached. By putting this between the player output and the projector input, I’m able to use the 3.5mm jack to connect some desktop stereo speakers.
The output is perfectly adequate for this purpose. Unfortunately I did not test the optical digital audio output, but I’ll assume it works. My only complaint is that I would have liked to have seen analog audio outputs for the additional (rear/center/SW) channels, and I’ve seen options from other manufacturers that support this.

I use this for my gaming pc. This thing is freaaking awesome. Recommend everyone to get this.
JC81 –
Device works great. Was given a monitor with no sound and needed to extract audio from my HDMI.
Sesh –
Works perfectly! Now I can get audio to my surround sound from my projector and it’s 4K compatible.
Justin –
i bought this with one feature in mind, the ability to extract dolby digital from the HDMI on my computer before it goes into the tv. unfortunately my computer refused to even see this as a sound device, whereas i can use my 11 year old sony receiver just fine. ultimately returned the extractor. not sure if maybe they’ll make a new one that will do what i need or not….
MichaelS –
Performs exactly as expected. Satisfied with purchase.
TiffanyB –
Great product worked like a charm for an event we had
Lucky1 –
Works great as long as the display supports 4K. Tried on a 1080 display and image was distorted.
BrandonD –
Fantastic unless of course you are trying to run 2140
AnthonyH –
I used this to connect my Bose soundbar to an older LG tv. It works like a charm. Glad I purchased it.
JeffS –
Needed to convert HDMI output audio to optical out to send to hearing aides for my dad. This was exactly what we needed.
user185615 –
Worked well for a few days then stopped working. Spend the money for a good one on Amazon.
Tracy –
This item was purchased so I could connect an Epson projector with a sound bar and FireStick to stream content. This item allowed me to connect these technologies relatively easily. I learned about this connectivity option here on BestBuy.com. Very helpful.
Reddj8 –
Did not work. Awful product, i think they should take this off the market
