Can you ever have enough charging cables around the house to charge your iPhones or iPads? For us, it seems like we are always looking for one that has been misplaced or left in a hotel or in a kid’s backpack. This 4′ USB-C to Lightning Charge-and-Sync Cable with Braided Jacket is great. We have cats so the braided cable is an absolute necessity. Our cats have destroyed many of cables in the few years they’ve been in our homes so the braided cable is a key feature we always look for with any charging cable.

The 4′ cord is a nice size. We prefer to have a variety of sizes based on the various places we choose to charge our devices. The 4′ is a little shorter than some of our others so we use it on our bookshelf where we have so many cords for various charging that the short cord is perfect. It’s great that so many sizes are now available compared to years ago.

The lightning charge is phenomenal. It seems we always wait until the last minute to charge it and don’t have the time to wait so the lightning feature is super important to us and this charging cable from Insignia absolutely delivers on that point.

I will throw it out there to be prepared for the USB-C and ensure you have the adapter that will work with it. It’s very common with Apple products however I have not yet accumulated a bunch of those so I will probably be purchasing another adapter so I don’t need to swap this one out with other cables.

Overall, I’m a big fan of this USB-C to Lightning Charge-and-Sync Cable with Braided Jacket and would highly recommend it. It’s an effective product at a great price from a reputable brand so win/win/win.

Cables without frayed ends, especially for Apple Lightning devices, are tough to find. Given the feel of this cable, I’m hoping it lasts longer than my others. Just like the other Tech Insiders, I did receive this at no out of pocket cost for an unbiased review.

TL;DR for my frequent readers and more details below:

    Good:
    Braided feel
    Bend point reinforcement
    USB-C to Lightning
    Consistent charge

    Bad / Meh:
    Nothing

For a 4-foot cable, you’d need a place for this; desk, car – but likely not bedside (but who knows!). I like the braided feel of this Insignia cable – which I can see taking a bit more abuse than other cables. Also, there appears to be more support for the connector ends, where I’ve seen just about every other Lightning cable start to fray.

I used this to charge my Airpods and iPad off my solar battery station, which indicates output power in Watts. Through the charging, it was right around 17W consistently and didn’t have a jumpy state, which I’ve seen with some low-end cables.

Having monitored other devices charging, I found the output via the Insignia cable to be consistent. No on/off chimes, no ‘not charging’ message and a pretty speedy charge time took an almost dead iPad to ‘fully charged’ in very little time.

This cable is going to go right into my rotation for Lightning cables for home & away.

    Recommended!

I’ve been using Insignia 4′ USB-C to Lightning Charge-and-Sync Cable with Braided Jacket for over a week now to charge my iPhone in my car, and it has been working great! It needs a USB-C to USB adaptor to work with a cigarette lighter socket, but luckily I had one handy, so that was non-issue.
The braided cable is very durable, unlike the flimsy original cable that came with the phone. I already own a braided cable by another brand, which I have been using everyday at home for years and it shows no sign of wear and tear, so I’m confident that this Insignia cable will last me for a long time (if not forever!)
I compared the Insignia cable to the Apple’s original cable side-by-side (see the photo), and there is no contest in which one looks more durable.
The 4′ length is perfect to use it in my car without the cable being too long and getting in a way. I wish the cable tie had snaps on both ends, so it could be taken off it not needed without cutting it off.
I noticed that my phone charges very fast and that’s another bonus compared to the original cable. With Insignia cable, I can plug my phone between my errands and it’ll charge my phone in no time.
Insignia – 4′ USB-C to Lightning Charge-and-Sync Cable with Braided Jacket is high quality, durable and reasonably priced, and I highly recommend it!

  4. Damian

I’ve been using the Insignia USB-C to Lightning Power Cable for a few weeks now and I’m very happy with it. It’s become my go-to cable for charging and syncing my iPhone. The durability and quality feel of the cable is fairly impressive, I don’t think i’ll need to replace this cable for a very long time, if at all. At 4 feet long, its the perfect distance to reach from my socket to my nightstand to allow it to charge overnight. The cable provides up to a 480 Mbps rate of data transfer which is super fast and allows my iPhone to quickly charge.

It is Apple MFi licensed meaning this cable was approved and tested by Apple so you can take comfort in the fact that is a quality charging cable. It also has ultra-slim connectors that make it easy to connect and disconnect your device without removing your case This cable also has a a nice reusable zip-tie attached to it allowing for easy portability and storage for future use.

Overall, if you’re looking for a solid quality charging cable I would highly recommend Insignia’s line of charging cables.

  5. SteveL

Bottom Line: this cable aids in the transition away from USB-A and should be durable for almost all use cases.

Pro: braided cable; little to no flex near connector heads

Review: This is a braided cable with a Lightning connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other. I have it connected to a 65w GAN power charging brick, and it does a good job charging my iPad mini 6 quickly. In my experience, braided cables hold up really well (I have never had one tear) and I expect this cable to be just as durable. Typically the failure points are where the connector head is, since this spot experiences a lot of flex. I haven’t noticed any flex on this cable in that area, and I have mine pretty tightly pulled around the corner of my desk. The cable also comes with an attached rubber tie, and so you can wrap and stow the cable neatly when not in use. Overall, it’s a well made cable that should hold up for use with Apple devices that still have a Lightning connector and I expect to get years of use from it.

  6. Jordan

If you own an apple device having an extra USB-C charging cable is a must. We all know that the apple cable is really easy to damage, so we are constantly having to replace them. Well, enter the Insignia lightning cable.

Not only is the cable long enough to reach a good distance, but it feels really well made, and it should last a good while. The sleeving really feels like a quality protective sleeve. I’ve already rolled over the cable with my chair, and to my surprise, the cable looked just like new. Had it been an OE cable, it would have definitely left a kink on the cable, and possibly stopped functioning.

The 4′ cable length is great for whenever an outlet is out of immediate reach. When in school, or at work, and you find yourself with an outlet far enough to keep your original cable from reaching, this Insignia cable really comes in handy.

A great addition to the cable is the attached strap to make carrying the cable around in a safe and compact manner.

If you are looking for a new USB-C to Lightning cable, look no further. I would really recommend it.

  7. MacUser

Durable woven cable cover, both ends are shaped to resist breaking at what is usually the most vulnerable part of data/charging cables. I expect these to last the remaining life of all Lightning devices I still have, and I feel good about extending the useful life of older electronics — but if I need to get more, you can’t beat this price. The build quality is top-notch. The cable feels sturdy and durable, with reinforced connectors that inspire confidence in its longevity. I no longer worry about fraying or wear and tear, which is a common issue with other cables.

The uses for this cable are MYRIAD. Charging, of course, but also many networking possibilities.

Though I haven’t used them for this purpose, they should be good for a direct wired connection between older Apple devices and newer ones with USB-C (Thunderbolt) port, meaning you can set up a new device & transfer data from your old one without using WiFi or Bluetooth. You can also tether a Lightning-port iOS device to a newer laptop (Windows, Chromebook, or Mac) with a USB-C port, to use the Apple device’s Internet connection.

With this cable you can also use a newer (USB-C) device with cell service as a USB-connected hotspot to an older Apple device (even a WiFi-only iPad) rather than rely on spotty WiFi or Bluetooth connections. Since my MacBook Pro has only USB C ports, getting a set of dedicated USB-C to Lightning cables made sense. The cable seems sturdy enough to withstand the daily business of being bent almost daily while moving the MacBook back and forth from its dedicated storage location to my work area. The 4ft length is perfect for plugging in my iPhone to a power brick but still long enough to move about the desk as needed.

I can’t say enough about how pleased I am with this purchase. At this price, you won’t go wrong with this cable for your daily charging needs. I would definitely recommend it.

  8. MarquisL

The cable is made very well and is very durable, the fast charging on it is great.

  9. Bappy

This four foot braided white cable from BestBuy’s house brand is a winner. It is made well with a braided fabric sheathing with on USB-C connector and of course another end with a Lightning connector. But the plus here is it has been one of the few cables that have provided me with a reliable data connection to my laptop. I was actually able to transfer over six hundred and seventy eight photos and one hundred and twenty 4k videos in one connection session without a disconnect. This is a feat unmatched by any other cables, including the genuine Apple cables that came with my iPhone. Definitely a quality product from Insignia and something I would recommend for anyone needing a reliable USB-C connector to Lightning connector cable for charging and data transfers. The cable has an attached flexible band so when you wrap up the cable it stays wrapped and doesn’t unwind. Hopefully the integrity of the cable remains over time and it retains its flawless data connection capabilities. Great cable.

  10. NneotaE

Excellent buy. It works perfectly with my devices. Now I wish I’d bought more than one.

  11. DickieUK

You might be thinking there’s nothing exciting about a cable – but this one actually fits a pretty specific niche that exists at the moment.

If you have newer Apple devices, the chances are they either don’t ship with a charger at all, or you are now in the USB-C category. For those previous generation devices, if you have any of the cables from the ones that did ship with a charger, 99% it will be a USB-A connection -> Lightning.

A few years ago this wouldn’t be an issue – everything from wall outlets at airports to car fitted USB ports was USB-A , so those cables still came in handy – however the whole world has gone USB-C now. I admit its going to be nice to only have to worry about one set of common , standard cable connections, but that leaves me in a bit of a bind for those legacy devices that the kids still use – because now I need a collection of USB-C to lightning cables.

You can buy them of course from Apple at a pretty price, but like every Apple cable I have ever owned the ends eventually crack and split – and that’s not a direct critique of the Apple cables, its just that the ones I travel with tend to take a beating so I need something sturdier. I

This Insignia cable is a perfect fit for all my issues above – its direct USB-C to Lightning (so now fiddling with USB A <-> adapters) for all outlet requirements and in the newest car. The braided cable seems to be bulletproof – time will tell I guess , but so far it’s a good sturdy thing to handle.

Minor addition comment but worth mentioning that it ships with some pretty neat cable tidy wraps – I don’t know if you can buy them on their own, but I’ll certainly be looking out for them as they do a great job of securing the slack cable (and with the Apple ones, you’re pretty much on your own).

Highly recommended over the generic Apple one – and depending on where you get your cables, probably a much more cost effective option.

  12. CDF3

The Insignia 4′ USB-C to Lightning Charge-and-Sync Cable is a nice braided cable. The quality is good and very solid. The end of each end of the cable is long enough to grab onto when plugging or unplugging the cable. This will help in preserving the connection and durability of the cable. The braided cable feels good and screams quality. It also comes with a rubber cable tie that can be adjusted to how tightly or loosely you tighten the cable for storage. I had no problems plugging it into my USB-C charging brick while charging. I also had no problems plugging it into the USB-C port on my MacBook. When plugging it up to my MacBook a pop-up will appear on my MacBook asking if I trust my iPhone device. After checking the Allow button, nothing will happen unless you unlock your iPhone and click the Allow and Trust message that appears. The ability to sync the iPhone to the MacBook will then work with no issues. I also like the overall length of the cable. I have no problems placing my iPhone on my nightstand with the cable being able to reach my charger. Overall, it’s a good cable for my iPhone needs.

I usually prefer Anker cables but needed one in pinch so gave this a try. Seems well made and plugs in securely. Also appreciate the included cable tie.
Only wish is that they offered some colors other than white as I fear this will get dirty.

  21. DITGUY17

I recently had the opportunity to test out the Insignia™ 4′ Lightning to USB-C Charge-and-Sync Cable, and I must say, it has left a positive impression on me. As a tech enthusiast and reviewer, I always appreciate a good quality cable, and this one did not disappoint.

First and foremost, let’s talk about the charging speed. This cable performed admirably, delivering a speedy charge to my devices. The Lightning to USB-C connection is quite efficient, and I noticed that my iPhone charged up quickly and consistently. Whether I was charging my phone, iPad, or any other Lightning-compatible device, I found that the charging speed was on par with what I’d expect from an Apple-branded cable.

Data transfer speed is also a crucial aspect to consider, especially for those who regularly sync their devices or transfer large files. The Insignia™ cable handled data transfer swiftly and reliably. I was able to move photos, videos, and documents between my devices with no hiccups. It’s important to note that the cable supports USB 2.0 data transfer speeds, so it may not be the fastest option available for data-intensive tasks, but for everyday use, it gets the job done without any issues.

Durability is always a concern with cables, as they tend to be the weak link in many charging setups. The Insignia™ cable feels solid and well-constructed. It’s not flimsy, and the connectors are sturdy, which is essential for long-term use. I appreciate the reinforced stress points near the connectors, which should help prevent wear and tear over time. While I haven’t had the cable long enough to comment on its long-term durability, it certainly appears promising.

In terms of overall use, the 4-foot length is convenient and provides ample reach for most charging situations. The cable is also relatively flexible, making it easy to coil up and store when not in use. The slim Lightning connector fits into most cases without issue, and the USB-C end connects securely to power sources and devices. The cable’s white color is standard and matches well with Apple devices, maintaining a clean and uniform appearance.

In conclusion, the Insignia™ 4′ Lightning to USB-C Charge-and-Sync Cable is a solid choice for those in need of a reliable and reasonably priced charging and data transfer solution. It delivers on its promises of charging speed and data transfer efficiency, while its durability and overall user-friendliness make it a cable worth considering. Whether you’re looking for a spare cable or a replacement, this Insignia™ cable is a dependable option that won’t break the bank.

This worked perfectly for our problem! Connectin my old iPhone to my new Samsung, so we could transfer the memory from the Apple to the new phone. Easy – Just plug it in and let the two discuss how to organize the transfer.
They did that and “transfer complete” .
    Thanks,
    Charles Leavell
