U-shape is a nice upgrade to a typical window unit, this was easy to order and was delivered as expected, more complex installation but not unreasonable, quiet operation UNTIL the interior fan developed a clicking sound about a month later — so, nearly silent operation, but maddening click click click. Return period is only 30 days, and this started about a week later. Contacted Insignia, tried a bit of troubleshooting, but it was clearly just a poor-quality and out-of-balance plastic fan. Insignia had me schedule a “warranty repair” appointment at Geek Squad, so I boxed it up, they took it in, and just ordered me a new one. This arrived promptly, but I think they sent me a refurb without disclosing it. It had a few insects on the exterior, very faint signs of use. No big deal, the fan doesn’t click now, it’s very quiet, but the thermostat is crazy inaccurate. Typical experience buying almost anything these days. Set your expectations low. That said, as of now, it’s doing its job, and I like it.

Works well for cooling off one room. Love that it comes with everything you need to install it in your window. Some air conditioners come without brackets for the unit to rest on over the window sill which means you have to purchase them separately.

This 4 star rating is specifically for this open-box item I bought. The condition stated excellent but it was clearly used a lot, a vent was broken and it was missing the remote, far from excellent.
This is the second time I buy the exact same model, except that was new and they work amazing and are so quiet as well. Both purchases came with everything I needed to mount them on my window sill. Which is a great plus. Highly recommend, but be open to open box, this one even with it’s issues, works very well.

Installation wasn’t too difficult; there are plenty of tutorial videos out there.
The inverter is great. The technology allows for variable power usage, so it doesn’t make my lights flicker or turn off for a split second. Coming from an older portable AC unit, there was only full throttle on or off.
Unfortuantely, my apartment complex doesn’t allow me to have anything sticking out of the window so I had to return it. I didn’t get to play around with the app functionality, but I’m sure they are convenient enough.
Don’t be afraid to try it out. Returning was painless as well.

This works great when it works. It’s heavy–over 50 pounds–and it fits onto your window slots, so it’s difficult to pull in and out once you install it. Ours worked great, and we left it in the window and covered it for winter. We tried it again this spring during a heat spike in April, and it doesn’t work anymore. It turns on, then flashes Eco7 and shuts off. Best Buy wants us to bring it in to fix it. We are in our 60s and live in a 3rd floor apartment. Now we have to get a 51 pound air conditioner out of the window, down the stairs, and to the store, then bring it all the way back up–if they fix it. It’s expensive, so we will try, but this is a warning.

Eek, unfortunately I have to rate this low for several reasons. If you need a cold bedroom AC, I can’t recommend this model. Cooling and software issues make it so you can’t simply use the remote to turn on and off the system or change modes without having to manually confront the air conditioner.
The good? Quiet; and works well when it’s not cool out.
1. Getting it cold enough when it’s cool outside can definitely be tricky sometimes. I expect when it’s hot this summer, it will work just fine. Unfortunately, this isn’t the only issue.
2. If you turn on the system manually, the remote will not operate. You have to turn on the system WITH the remote otherwise buttons won’t work on the remote with the system running. The remote is ATROCIOUS, pointlessly glow in the dark, and looks like it’s from 1999.
3. Any time you turn it on, Eco mode automatically turns on. If you change mode and go back to AC, Eco mode will be on again. There’s no Eco mode button on the remote, so you have to manually press it every time it automatically puts itself on eco mode, whether that means when turning the system on, or when cycling between modes(this is probably the most annoying issue when operating the unit without leaving bed)
4. The temperature display doesn’t shut off automatically, so you have to press a button to turn the LED display off.
5. Installation is time consuming and what they provide for foam and insulation does not make any sense for how you need to patch the window. Like seriously… just need two square foam pieces and some extra foam…
6. The actual physical additions to the air conditioner unit which are supposed to help secure the AC in the window — are absolutely bananas. There are these fold out things on each side that make no sense and seem extremely easy to break, and then there are these weird metal brackets that require modification to even extract from the inside of the AC.
7. The instructions are atrocious as well.
There’s so many bananas things about these air conditioners, to be honest. I have a Midea as well, which has even worse instructions and even less foam insulation included, but I will be purchasing another Midea for various reasons — the Midea has better app options, Alexa, and so on. Both are heinous with their installation and foam.

I live in a hot and humid southern state where it’s 90 degrees or higher all summer with high humidity. My central air cannot keep up! This unit helps significantly during hot days – and the dehumidifier function can quickly drop humidity from 75% to 50% by cooling the air.
I installed this unit in a second story window. The installation was surprisingly easy as I just needed to climb on the roof once in order to remove the storm window and to make sure the braces were secure – you can install without going outside, though, and it is very simple.
* One issue is that the unit vibrates heavily when the engine ramps up. This can be a big issue as it can resonate with the window or even the house thus causing an intense vibration throughout the wall. When first installed, I could feel this vibration downstairs as well as hear it on the other side of the top floor. I was able to fix this by purchasing some additional foam strips and putting them between the window and the unit as well as between the unit and the support brace. Now it is a little loud as it ramps up but it’s still much quieter than the standard units.
The unit can also be removed easily during the cooler seasons – you will just need to get more sealing strips to reinstall the unit next summer. Like most window units it is ugly on the house so it is nice to be able to remove easily when not necessary. Also you will need to deal with some light bleeding through the bottom of the unit where it meets the windowsill – and you might need to find some better curtains.

I finally got one of these for our bedroom and it is a GAME CHANGER. It is way more quiet than our old standard window unit and we can sleep and work much easier. It keeps our 150 sq ft bedroom very cold and using the Dry function it will keep the humidity in check even when it is cooler and clammy outside. It does make some gurgle noises of coolant circulating at first, but it seems to calm down to a really nice white noise. Installation was a little tricky, and I couldn’t get it to quite seal with the window without adding some additional self-stick window seal from Home Depot. Maybe it was user error. The other nice thing is we have a sloping roof below our window with only about 9-12″ of vertical distance below the bracket and I was able to angle the legs just right to clear the roof.

I purchased this unit in September of 2022 for a fifth wheel trailer that had a broken AC unit. The summer heat was still in the 90s and 100s at that time and this unit did a great job of cooling the room I placed it in. I’ve relocated the unit this summer to the living room of the trailer and, alongside a couple of small fans, it keeps the entire place cool on even the hottest days. The eco mode is nice and helping to save a few bucks on electricity. The sleep option is also nice for the evenings when I’m going to bed. The included controller is easy to use and has a small screen that shows the temperature. Overall, I’m very pleased with this unit.

I’ve had the AC set up now for a few months and I LOVE it. The install was slightly complicated because the bracket that came with it was too tall for my window. I live in an apt building with a ledge and couldn’t get it to be level. That said I was able to buy a bracket for $25 off Amazon that worked.
The AC is really powerful and cools by room fast. It’s also so quiet!

Great new AC! It’s pretty quiet but does make some white noise. I like this new design of the compressor outside and the fan inside. Cools down a room fairly quickly. Everything other than a screwdriver comes in the kit to set up. The remote is easy to use and the buttons on the AC are easy to navigate. I like that it has a swivel feature.
