I bought this laptop on BestBuy.com; fully knowing that it was a refurbished unit through a third party vendor. Prior to selecting this unit, however, I had viewed the specs of the over 80 plus HP 14″ laptops listed for sale. This item had the best specs advertised within my price range; yet it was also highest priced one of those 80. I chose this unit because of the advertised specs, especially for the stated screen resolution of “1920×1080 (Full HD)”. However, when I opened the box it had the wrong power cord included. (The physical size of the end coupler on the power cord is twice the size of the opening on the laptop. I called the vendor right away, placed on hold for over 5 minutes, and was then assured a new power cord would be mailed that day. (They did verify that my order purchased via BestBuy.com was in their system.) Never received the cord or any shipping tracking number, via email, like promised. I call one week later, placed on hold for over 5 minutes again, to then be told the power cord had been on back order, but would now be shipped to me that day. Waited for it another whole week but never received it or any tracking info, via email, as promised. (My email address was verified with them each time.) In the mean time, I purchased a power cord of my own locally; adding an additional cost of $35 for me regarding this unit. Then when the laptop was booted-up, it does not have the screen resolution of “1920×1080 (Full HD)” capability that I had paid extra for. Rather misleading in their advertisement because: tho it does have the ‘Intel HD Graphics 520’ card installed and the latest driver (11/13/2019), the laptop’s physical display is not capable of displaying that advertised resolution. Well below it in fact. Sorry to say, the integrity of the third party that’s advertising these refurbished computers of theirs’s on BestBuy.com is not up BestBuy’s reputable and dependable standards. (HP does make great laptops however.)

This laptop was in perfect condition. I am very picky and could not tell it was refurbished. Came with a brand new power cord. Came with Windows 10 Pro. Easy set up from first power up. No other software is included. I like that no other software was preloaded. It makes startup so fast every time. Computer is very quiet, fast and just like new. Very pleased with purchase. The keyboard does NOT light up as advertised. From what I can tell it’s simply not an option. So if this is an important feature do not buy. I do use external monitor, keyboard and mouse. Monitor hookup does NOT have HDMI. Wired and wireless capable network. I am using laptop at my insurance office and it’s my fastest, nicest laptop so far.

I love the laptop; it runs smoothly and greatly handles Minecraft (a definite plus).
Sadly, like others have said, it is advertised to have a backlit keyboard but that is not actually present for this laptop. I very intentionally looked for a laptop with this function, so that is the only downside in my opinion.

I was so excited to receive this computer until it would not charge. It has been less than two weeks and when trying to use this computer without it being plug it will not cut on. When using the computer while plug an error message pops up about the battery. This is super disappointing. I could not purchase an extended warranty but I am glad that this issue showed up before the 30 days. I will be returning this item and going for a new computer.

Bought refurbished in 2020. Worked great for 2 years. Then, it just wouldn’t turn on again – no lights or anything. Had to buy a replacement battery for a out $40 from that site that has everything from A to Z… It works again. Might have been something we did to wreck the battery or something from it’s past life. Who knows.

I received this laptop at the beginning of Nov 2022. The only issue I notice was the missing cam. The specs states cam but there is no cam on this laptop. Other than that, everything was working fine until the beginning of Feb 2023. For some reason, the system will not allow me to install my Windows update. I tried several troubleshooting methods and nothing is working. Now, the screen is glitching. I have to sit something heavy on the laptop mouse pad in order to get it to stop glitching. It’s like the mouse is going haywire and opening up everything. Unfortunately, I did not purchase the extended warranty and I am no longer able to return to the store. At this point, instead of paying for repairs, I am just going to have to purchase me a brand new computer elsewhere.

It seems to be functioning properly, it has a camera and the keyboard is backlit…but it smells weird and in person it’s kind of cheap/clonky feeling. The keyboard isn’t clean, which bugs me a lot, there’s “stuff” left over from the prior users which I would have expected to have been thoroughly cleaned.
Keeping it, since I need a PC for a specific purpose, and the price was right, but if I’d been shopping in person I would not have purchased it.
There’s a teeny bit of scuffing on the bottom which is totally fine, the top looks brand new…but I can’t get over the grungy bits around the keyboard.
I’ve purchased several refurbished/renewed products from Best Buy and Amazon in the past, and they were all totally clean, which I think is why I’m so bugged about the muck, which I will see if I can clean up myself, and I’m hoping the sour plastic smell will disappear once it’s been out of the box for a while, otherwise I’m going to have to return it.

I purchased this for my wife as an early Christmas gift.
It arrived in excellent condition along with the external hard drive purchased separately.
However…
It will not recognize Rosetta Stone. The DVD player knows its there and the computer will say Rosetta Stone. But it will do absolutely nothing.
The other thing is. Im pretty sure the advertisement said there was a built in camera for video chat. This is not true.

for the pricepoint I love this laptop!! fired up out of the box, connected effortlessly to the home network, found the printer and was up and running in about 10 minutes. Great value, somewhat smallish but that is to be expected with the 14″ screen, I hooked up a larger monitor and use that for viewing. Might add extra ram but so far all is well!
