    I purchased this unit for a basement area that is prone to mildew odors and I plugged it into a wall outlet nearby. Although it is a small unit, it seems to clean the air and reduces the mildew smell very effectively, but is very quiet.

    hooked it up works great. all you need to do is change the bulb every 6 months but have it in a small bedroom and i have noticed a difference.

    However if the room that it’s installed is quiet you can hear the motor running but it’s not obnoxious enough to quit using it.

    This does a great job near our dogs bedding. It keeps the area cleaner smelling and makes a nice soothing sound. My daughter wants one for her room just because of the relaxing sound it makes. I think they are discontinuing this product but I wish they were keeping it.

    I love this product. Very quiet, allows me to sleep at night. Keeps the air fresh and clean. It also has a very cool look to it. I get a lot of questions about it when people come into my apartment.

    This thing really does work. I can’t smell the dogs when I walk into my house now. I will be buying a second one to put in the bathroom. It’s a bit noisy but no louder than a fan. If I knew of a quieter one I’d buy that instead.

    I don’t see a dramatic improvement in air quality solely due to this product yet since I use it with my other Germ Guardian purifier. However I’ve kept it running from day 1 (approx 3 weeks now) 24/7 and it is in good condition so far. Maybe I should try this in my bathroom and see if it works as advertised.

    We put it right next to our stove and it gets rid of unpleasant cooking odors pretty well! It’s nice to know it’s killing bacteria too, but we mostly got it for its odor fighting!

    The advertisement Best Buy had was pretty convincing: “Processes 456 cu. ft. of air per hour
    To keep your home smelling fresh and free of odors due to mildew, smoke, pet areas, cooking and more.”

    With that, I would say when an ad reads: “home smelling fresh” I would and did assume its pretty powerful. I purchased 4 of these for use in bathrooms, as they claim they sanitize the air & help fight unpleasant odors. You need to have these in small areas and keeping the door closed is the only way to have the units work. Cant tell after 6 months if they are sanitizing at all but I can say they don’t really do much for neutralizing the unpleasant odors

    I wondered why they did not list the square footage of the room they are designed for, that should be listed, kind of misleading as far as stating how many things it can do.

    I’ve purchased this Germ Guardian
    air purifier many times before at different stores. One of the first places was at Best Buy over 4 years ago. I knew I could purchase it again with the same level of security & satisfaction. I strongly feel this air purifier works well. I’ve especially used it for traveling and definitely for bathrooms, hallways, laundry areas.
