I purchased mine (from BestBuy) in Sept 2021. I only used it for a few weeks during 2021 to make sure it functioned correctly. It worked great all through the Spring and Summer of 2022. I ran it in the unfinished part of our basement and it maintained a constant 40% humidity level. At the time, I was impressed at how well it worked. I turned it on for the first time last week and the compressor will not kick on. It simply blows cold air continuously. I’m very disappointed that I was only able to use it for approximately 6-7 months in total. I’m assuming it’s the capacitor, a low-quality 2-dollar part, that failed on the unit. It’s not user serviceable, so unfortunately I will have to purchase another unit now. Again, very disappointing performance from a GE product.

Great price and works perfectly in the basement of our new house.

Very nice product does what i ask of it very quiet …
GeorgeSimco –
It was excellent.
It did the job in a short amount of time.

Does a good job of taking the humidity out of the air. Is a little loud so hard to hear people over the noise of the machine when on High or Smart Dry. Low setting is not bad but need to run it on high to reduce humidity. Was dripping a little in the back of the machine but nothing major so placed it on a small rug.
VerticalChallenge –
I had this running in a basement garage and it helped keep things dry… until it stopped working less than two years after date of purchase.
Connect –
Works great! Keeps the basement dry and less humid.

No sooner I paid full price $249.00, it goes on sale for $199.00. Awful.

This unit has different humidity, fan speed and delay settings so you can keep the air in your living space just right. The unit is a little bit loud, but it serves its purpose very well. Also, be sure to get the feet out of the moisture collection bin before operation
LitoV –
No more humidity in the basement!!! The musty smell is also gone.

So far this product is very effect. The features make it both efficient and easy to handle. Water captured works well for watering plants.
Bobby –
Works fine. Only drawback is water tank. Wish I had bought larger size

This replaced a Toshiba that lasted 4 years. I’m very happy with the size, features and weight of this unit. It sits on a basement sink with adrain hose. Perfect for our basement.
Linda –
I love it , it does everything its supposed to. I definitely recommend it.

I bought this model because my prior GE dehumidifier lasted 8 years. (5-10 years is considered normal life span.) This GE model only lasted 3 years. The circuit board failed so it couldn’t be turned on and they don’t offer replacement parts.

Ive been using it for about a week. The controls are easy to set and understand and there was nothing to put together outside of snapping the wheels onto the bottom of the unit. It brought the humidity of an approximately 300 square-foot bonus room from 70% to 45% (that’s where I set the room humidity to). I empty the bucket once a day, but could probably go longer between empties. Makes a little noise, but I don’t spend a ton of time in the room so it’s not bothersome.

This is a good unit but it is way too loud. It works well for a smaller area but not for an entire house.
UnhappyRecipient –
Owned for just over a month and it has completely broken down. Loud rattling as of the motor is loose, the LED display is showing background backlighting, overheats and fails after only a couple of hours. DO NOT BUY.
John –
Keeps turning off when not full, didn’t have time to return it within the return period now I’m screwed
LynnK –
Great size for my basement. Easy to use, on wheels. Love the smart dry feature. I use a hose…hose not included
BoomerZoomer –
The dehumidifier effectively removes moisture from the basement.
GerardA –
Very good and quiet machine. Does a fantastic job.
SecretAznMan –
Works great. Sometimes the little bobble for the water levels gets stuck and you have to like push it.
Scott –
Bought it July 16, crapped out August 29. Not worth the parts it’s made with
Thomas –
Exchanged first one bought due to it stopping function not even a month later the second one just stops working
Ryan –
Died after 2.5 months… pretty disappointing. I hope their warranty process is fast.
user253278 –
Took the moisture out of my basement with just one run cycle. My old one could never
Dom458 –
Been running strong for a year now almost non stop in our basement. Works great! Def recommend.
Salma –
Its very user friendly, easy set up and easy to move around the house. Makes noise but not loud, its like white noise.
RolandoR –
Excellent equipment, silent and practicaland very little electricity consumption
MichaelH –
Works great for our basement. Easy as plug it in and press power.
Tonoficeinaday –
Works well. We run this when we are away for our place near the ocean. There is a hose cconnection so we set it on the counter (it is heavy) and have a hose that drains into the sink.
TeresaM –
Great small dehumidifier. Easy to empty and not heavy. Cleared up the moisture in no time.
JoannP –
Machine died just after the one year of ownership mark. Checking to see if my total tech plan will cover it.
MikeyinNH –
This is our second one. First one lasted 3 years. So glad we had the 4 year protection plan.
MattE –
Bought in July then the screen started to go out shortly after so I was not able to tell the humidity. Now nothing works. It will not even turn on. Only two months and its done. When it worked, it was great, but the issues cant be ignored. Dont buy it
Fede1 –
Great Dehumidifier works great and did help getting moisture out of room improving air quality and controlling humidity.
Philippe –
Great unit and had no issues whatsoever right out the box.
Catatumbo –
This is a great dehumidifier. We put it in our basement and the humidity and smell are gone since then.
Patti –
Quiet running….smaller size—easy to maneuver and quiet
Cary –
As I previously owned a GE dehumidifier that lasted forever, this was a no brainer.
Simpler to use, quiet and tasty to use out of the box. It’s smart sensor feature is great when you run a hose into a sink/ drain and can leave it on and it automatically shuts off when desired level is reached
Tony –
This is a great dehumidifier it has done an Amazing job when our basement flooded worked beautifully and kept are basement dry and mold free.
Roku –
My house is very dusty and we have a lot of allergies so I use this to keep humidity in the house
CapC –
My unit died within 30 days, and I am currently in the warranty process with GE. The unit is also extremely loud, and uses a lot of power, you will almost certainly have a noticeable increase on your power bill, as the unit uses more electricity than advertised. I would look elsewhere for a dehumidifier.
SandraC –
It works great for my 2 car garage. MY NEW CAR WAS GETTING A FUNKY HUMIDITY SMELL WHEN I TURNED ON THE VENTS. I CHANGED A CLEAN CAR FILTER AND RAN THE HUMIDIFIER IN MY GARAGE ON THOSE DEWY SUMMER AND SPRING DAYS.
theLilGen –
so far does great w humidity in beachfront house & size is perfect. Only wish was not so noisy
NicholasB –
Good build quality, compact, and does the job. It can get a little loud, but that’s expected with any dehumidifier.
SarahB –
This thing works really hard to minimize the moisture in our basement. We had pipes burst in our basement and there smelly puddles everywhere. It did the job and continues to reach a full tank despite the very dry weather now in the winter. The tank gets full fairly quick (probably because our badement is so large and there is always a problem of flooding from rain) so we probably should have gone with a bigger tank since we were emptying it every couple hours. Settings work well and like the LED screen foe stats on the air’s moisture. Would recommend.
Evan –
The GE – 35-Pint Portable Dehumidifier with Smart Dry works as advertised. ;o)
NickinBC –
Works as advertised. I put mine in my basement to replaced a failed unit from another manufacturer and this produces a bucket of water every day or two. My only regret is that I wish I had a larger capacity due to how much water it pulls and how often I have to empty it. If you aren’t concerned with that aspect then this should work well for you. You can definitely hear it running so if it is something for an area of your house where you spend a lot of time you may want to look for something advertised as more quiet.
