Nabil –
Excellent navigation and smart but it requires a very through practice to set it up and use it it has so many applications and features compared to the one I used about 15 years ago
It has so many features and applicaations, too many to count or mention

Correction to Best Buy’s description; the Garmin DriveSmart 76 screen is 7″, not 6″ as stated. Best Buy’s login verification option “text to phone; we just need to know it’s you” turned out to be a password reset process?
Rating is marked down from 5 to a 4 for cumbersome access and adding entries to Saved Places. Other than that, Garmin’s menu is intuitive and ease to navigate through with the majority of screens needed able to be accessed via the OK Google command. Thankfully, Garmin devices still allow menu access by passengers while the vehicle is in motion.
(Navigation Shortcut: Once clicked through several screens, it is usually faster to return to the Home screen or Map by longpressing the back button than it is pressing Back multiple times.)
The display is crisp, clear and brightness is adjustable. Accessing the Sound Mixer gives access to separate control and adjust volume of phone, media and navigation sound. While driving, and handsfree, you have the choice of saying “OK Garmin” for immediate navigation or “Alexa” to waken that feature. There are plenty of other online references indicating all you can do with Alexa, but having it as part of your navigation device is something I think many will find benefit in. Any requests for locations also allows for navigating to them; so in many cases you can simply use Alexa for most instead going through Garmin. Connection to home WiFi is a welcome feature that makes software and map updates an easy process. Bring the device inside and plug into a wall or connect to Garmin Express. Back up your device using Garmin Express often in the event you upgrade devices or you have issues.

Having an issue with your GPS? Don’t struggle or get frustrated. Map issues can generally be cleared up by connecting to Garmin Express and downloading a new map. For all other issues with the GPS itself; go to Settings > Device > Reset. After the GPS has restarted, connect to Garmin Express and select a recent backup to restore everything.

Accessing your Saved Places to add a new location does not offer a “New” place or location button. First, click on “Where Do You Want To Go?”, type your location in search then click on it to access the “Information” button, or click into Recently Found and select an entry to access it’s Information button from where you can then save it to your Saved Places list.
I sold a DriveSmart 65 to buy another “65” model having Alexa, but discovered Garmin had released this model so purchased it instead. Preferring not to connect to the phone for anything but navigation, information and media; I disable access to contacts, calls and messages. No issues to report thus far.

Very nice gps. Garmin built this well. I like the size of this one.

This replaced my Drivesmart 65 I bought 10 months ago, it would take a long time to connect to the satellite. So far the Drivesmart 76 is working as it should. Fast connection to the satellite. The “hello Garmin” voice use, works really well. This one is much better than the Drivesmart 86 as on upcoming off ramps this one shows a large screen on the right for what lane to use, the 86 only had a very small square to see the off ramp. I have had several Garmin GPS’s and so far I do recommend this one. I like Garmin the as you can save and or back up your favorites (pgx files) and transfer them to your new Garmin. Do recommend always buy the Best Buy extended warranty / replacement plan.
Soundguy1 –
This is an especially adept solution for traveling in a vehicle, especially with the traffic alerts through the Garmin Drive app. I also like that Google doesn’t necessarily know my driving routines as I don’t have to use Waze or Google Maps as an alternative. It looks for any software or mapping updates every time it shuts down if Wifi is available. Have had Garmin GPS units for years and they just keep getting better.
KayCee –
Great product have always used Garmin very reliable love the 7″ screen
Avalon53 –
This product has proven to be an excellent smart device.
Earlybird24 –
I have had other Garmins , but this one is the best. The directions come through my car stereo, so you hear the directions and with Alexa in the Garmin 76 also it’s awesome . Fuel prices directions to restaurants, Garmin is the way to go, purchase this Garmin 76 you won’t regret it
Sully –
Have been using Garmin for over 15 years and this model is the best yet. Easy to use and I highly recommend it.
shopperguy –
It provided accurate directions to Gaylord, Mi so I believe it to be fine.
Roni –
So far I love it. The screen size is magnificent! I like the different settings available for trips. Traffic updates so far on the money.
Teri –
If I’d known it wouldn’t work on 2012. Then I wouldn’t have bought this gatmin. So if I were you I wouldn’t bother with this one if your vehicle isn’t new.
Keisha –
the GPS was very helpful in providing direction. The one thing I was dissatisfied with is the GPS does not always instruct the best route available first. You have to be care with that. When I was using the GPS it was giving me the directions to locations that could of took less time if the route was calculated different.
BrianR –
Great device. Lots of new features. The Trip Advisor is a little limiting though.
Chee –
I bough this product as an independent GPS so I do not have to use my phone. It is no good. It is difficult to operate.
Satisfied –
The GPS Garmin SmartDrive 76 is working really wonderfully! I have not used Alexa as yet for music; not sure how to set it up as yet, but the navigation with blue tooth works great, voice clear as s bell and direction and map are easy to follow. Thank you.
Soundbarreview –
Works great! I really like the voice command allowing me to hear how soon I am at to take turn or to destination. And this model having ability in machine for map updates compared to my much older model which was instructed me to go to web site to check. Also like this wider model.
Nela –
Amazing help using it. Clear screen and data. Easy to follow the directions.
Unknown –
I love the navigation system. It has great new and improved features. Very easy to connect to Bluetooth. Very easy connecting to your cell phone. Maps are clear – easy to understand the routes and directions.
Jutika –
This is bit expensive than regular one, but built in bluetooth…
Newbedroomtelevision –
It was easy to set up and worked fine right out of the box.
Appleuser –
I only used this Garmin a few times. So far I like it. The only downsize is that the screen is very light in the area where I place it in my Blazer. I need to move it around a bit to see if that will change.
Carhaulers –
Garmin is reliable and the 7 inch size works well for out carrier drivers.
Extended –
This GPS has a large clear screen. Easy to use.Good value.
lanemone –
Even after owning a half dozen Garmins, I am amazed at the quality and features this unit delivers. Upgrading from a six year old Nuvi was like stepping into a new century. Love the voice commands and the 7″ screen is gorgeous.
LGB1953 –
Easy to use, nice screen. I bought the 7″ screen & im glad i did.
RecentPurchase –
The screen just freezes from time to time and needs to be restarted. I previously owned a drivesmart 55, which did not have this problem.
MainstreetA –
This gps works as well as the other Garmen that I have but it is bigger so it is easier to use while driving.
KCEC –
As you get order, your eyesight starts to fade away. This GPS system has given me true hands-free capability.
ThePharesWheel –
We bought this garmin right before a big trip out west last summer and it did not disappoint. No issues to deal with when our phones wouldn’t have had any signal and the maps wouldn’t have worked. Great size which makes it easier to see your next turn.
DrKeller –
This is my 3rd unit. Over the years, each new model has had improvements, some subtle, some totally new features. Example: Even though I use Google maps, I find it safer to check the weather overlaid on my route map.
Jonathan –
Loads and runs maps quickly, accurate, lots of extra mapping features
LaurenceG –
Very nice upgrade from the second-hand junk I’ve been using up til now. I wish it were less expensive and that the rear-view camera option were available for my two older cars (Mazda and VW), but it’s still a good product.
TVpurchase –
So far so great! Our Tom Tom was years old and no longer had enough memory to update and would get confused. Haven’t used the Garmin enough but so far locally it has performed well. The screen is perfect size–not too big to obstruct your dashboard vision. I wouldn’t get any bigger. I wouldn’t get any smaller either.
Patricia –
I love my gps. I do not love the dashboard holder that I bought to go with it. Right now I am using gorilla tape to hold the gps to the holder very disappointed and angry
GREAT –
Very nice GPS Garmin is one of the best GPS units
AntBee –
Bigger and better than the NUVI 40 that it replaces. Easier to use. Compatible with the old mounting bracket. Exactly what we wanted.
buckeyetoo07 –
Very functional and good size. Use with bluetooth for phone calls for making and answering calls for handsfree conversations.
DonnaB –
Worked great for the first 7 months. Then completely stopped working. I only had a 60 day return period. So I’m stuck with a $300 product that doesn’t work.
SandraO –
Not as good as my last Garmin. It takes me on routes that are more complicated and loses connection with my cell phone and says to see the app which does not exist.
bill –
Nice working grand,, working on it yesterday yours
jetstream –
Great product! This is my 3rd Garmin and happy that this model has the traffic alerts. Absolutely love the route planner.
Unhappy –
Started out by not being able to locate the address of my destination. Then is said that the major highway that runs north to south on the east coast was “closed”. It was not. Then it tried to send me 2 hours out of my way as a detour. Eventually, it took me off major roads and dumped me in a bad part of New York City where I was lost for hours after dark. A nightmare for an old wo man traveling alone. If you can’t trust it’s directions, what good is it?
Haymaker1959 –
Fairly easy to use. Could use a few more directions. And a little better suction cup to stay mounted.
