Ivan –
Big fan easy to use and pictures/print are beautiful
Sunshine –
The set up has been fairly simple so far. I still have to figure out how to link it to my phone.
leah177 –
Nice printer so far. The wireless makes the printing much easier and the prints are good.
Ldreview –
Easy setup. Works well for my purposes. Prints great photos. Still learning about this printer.
ColorMeSatisfied –
Epson Doesn’t disappoint, very impressive high quality photos. Recommend to anyone who treasures stunning photos of family and friends. I have used Epson printers for thirty years.
JustMakingStickers –
I got this printer to make stickers with my cricut. Setting it up didnt take too long.
I havent had any issues with the ink running or smearing with my sticker paper or when touched by water.
Just as a note: with cricut design space it uses the printers default settings – which so far as i can tell you can’t change on the printer its self. It wasted maybe 10 sheets of sticker paper trying to get the alignment right. I’d have it show up great on the tests and then look awful when printed on the glossy sticker paper. Turns out i needed to adjust the settings on my computer. It was really irritating.
Other thank than no complaints. Ive made a lot of stickers and haven’t needed to replace the ink yet.
MBMB –
Great copy machine but expensive cost to replenish the ink cartridges. You can only use Epson ink.
Techvet –
Epson, imo, makes a great printer, and I have owned several all in one’s. My last one, a 950 was a workhorse and I rode it till it reached its ink pad demise. Yes, it can tell when that part wears out and refuses to print anything else. The XP-970 is a very good printer, pictures come out looking great and we also use it for printing calendars and CD/DVD labels.
Amusthave –
We purchase the 970 epson printer and it’s a great addition to our home. It does everything we wanted it to do and more! I would highly recommend this product to a cook, photographer and student. Thank you for your service.
EPSONXP970 –
I just got my printer XP-970, and is the best printer ever, very good for pictures print
Lalalala –
The printer works great. Having trouble setting up the scanner to work.
NesaPieces –
I’m very happy with this printer! I have been through two printers and always had an issue printing my art prints and stickers on thicker paper but this printer took all kinds of paper I threw at it. This printer is also good with ink I went through 100+ prints and stickers until I had to replace the ink which the cost for ink wasn’t to bad. The colors are vibrant and highest quality. I would highly recommend this printer to anyone who is interested.
Carol –
Don’t buy it. It’s a challenge finding ink. BEST BUY DOES NOT SELL THE INK CARTRIDGES.
Elizabeth562 –
Printer bricked during a firmware update. I shipped it back to Epson and got a refurbished one. Quality is great when it works but printing does take a while at times.
Weybourne –
Excellent wireless printer, even directly from cell phone.
JymmyZ –
great printer, lots of ways to be able to print. no cord needed to connect to computer, connection thru ethernet cable is a BIG plus
BinkiwitzLewis –
Printer is great but not liking how fast the ink runs out and dont understand how to make cds.
jack –
so far so good. print quality good. Hope Epson stands behind their warranty since HP does not.
WillB –
Amazing printer.works perfectly with wifi and the quality is great!
Gigi –
I cannot understand what the hoopla is about with this printer as it is a very average printer, if you’re an artist or photographer, do not buy! And if you need to print a document the quality is probably the worst I’ve sever seen. Ever. Of course there is no support for anything you want to find answers to. Last Epson I’ll ever buy. If it’s not too late, I’ll return it.
Worthless –
Not user friendly. 3 people tried to get it to work right. Never did.
Boomx2 –
Great printer, as have been all my Epsons over the years. Super color photos.
StevenB –
great choice home office excellent nice black case
DavidJ –
Easy to setup. Easy (intuitve) to use. Works beautifully. Prints beautiful pictures up to 8.5×11.
JenniferP –
My daughter loves it. She is a digital artist and the colors are everything she had hoped for. She did the research for months and for an affordable printer this one ranked high and she was completely satisfied.
jallen –
I use the XP-970 printer mostly for photos and I am quite pleased. The color and sharpness are excellent and the printer has adjustments to optimize the results. Although I have not yet used it, the ability to print 11 x 17 in. paper is another feature that attracted me to that model.
bear –
Like everything about it so far it can do a lot more seem another review it was bought for the cricket mainly
Cantknow53 –
The printer set up was easy and quality is good. The ink must be ordered on line. If you run out in mid job you must wait a couple days to get it.
user331500 –
No Problems! very happy with the Epson – Expression Photo XP-970 Wireless All-In-One Printer. The whole family can use this printer.
kapr700 –
Awesome printer for quality and price. Prints very very well.
MaineYankee –
A quality color photo printer that may seem slow, but that is how good photo prints are created. As a modern day inkjet printer it is relatively easy to use.
MarkyMark –
Set up was fast and easy, just like setting up any regular printer. Print quality is great.
PMGPhoto –
I just received my new printer after owning a Canon for 9 1/2 years! I figured if I’m getting a new printer I want a higher DPI than my Canon. This printer is amazing. Easy set up. Super easy wi-fi set up. Print from iPhone is incredibly easy. The printer is quiet too. Prints are so beautiful and the ones I printed were photos I’ve taken with my iPhone not my Canon DLSR camera (can’t wait to see how those look). Worth the money & I bought it on sale too. Win win!
ThomasK –
Photography is my hobby, printing photos is truly the best with Epson!
Reviewing many Printers, I chose the xp-970.
RyanT –
Had to return due to problem with printer cartridges
Unknown –
Great customer service and speedy ouch ups, we are always satisfied customers when we shop Best Buy and they electronics are quality name brand.
SnidelyW –
Initial setup was quick, but colors look muted. Especially compared to my old HP. Had to mess with driver settings for color and quality defaults. It improved, but still hasn’t wowed me. It often seems to be recalibrating during a print job – making one page take 3-5 minutes to complete. Don’t know why any printer has to do this so often.
MichelleM –
I absolutely love my Epson Expression photo printer! Easy to set up and operate! It makes beautiful photos from my camera!
JamaraO –
Love it, excellent product, easy to function and troubleshoot
ParkerS –
Best printer I’ve ever had! I used matte photo paper to make art prints with this printer. And I was amazed at how rich the colors turned out to be! The prints are so sharp, velvety, and gorgeous !! Well worth the money.
ViraP –
High quality purchase and fast delivery! Would buy again if needed.
Bond –
just bought this printer easy to set up prints fine very good printer
JesseA –
Does the job. Easy to use. Kind of big but not bad for table top printer. Love wireless printing.
LizVS –
Really great printer. Easy and quick set up, print quality is great. Was able to print on various paper types and thicknesses.
RachaellS –
Third time I’ve bought this printer – the colors are perfect, It fits my business needs 100 %.
Tanignak –
First Epson I’ve owned in years. I forgot how versatile they are. As an audio engineer, I appreciate the ability to design labels and print directly to CD media. All other functions are top notch, and ink usage is very economical, especially for the quality. Highly recommended.
John –
Easy to setup. Prints look great. Ink cartridges that come with only are partially full and are just for charging the printer and printing a few prints. You will need to buy a set of 6 cartridges that will cost you an additional $66 for standard cartridges or $105 for the larger XL cartridges and Best Buy doesn’t even sell the cartridges. Come on Epson put the extra $2 worth of ink in the cartridges to begin with. I ended up returning the printer after a week of use.
JoshuaD –
The color quality is fantastic! I got it mainly for it’s ability to print directly on DC/DVD/BluRay discs. You get a good glossy one and the quality is just wow.
Best part however, the Epson replacement ink is not expensive!
I cannot recommend this enough!
Shishi –
Excellent printer for the price – does have its issues.
Print Quality
The print quality is great, but sometimes requires tweaking to the settings to get it just right, so print small until you get it right so you don’t use too much ink.
Paper
I had hoped I could use the mountains of paper I already have for this printer, but the ink doesn’t print well on certain gloss papers (ex. Xerox ultra gloss digital paper). I’m sure Epson paper would print beautifully, but that comes at higher cost. It prints well on every matte I tried and most semi-gloss. It does not play well with all paper, but that is more on the ink, not the printer itself.
Ink
Epson is known for its quality ink. If you have the right paper, it will print beautifully.
Although, this printer is thirsty, and the cartridges are small. You will run out of black ink before printing 10 11x17s. If only there were larger cartridges.
*cough* CISS *cough*
Troubleshooting
Unfortunately, sometimes errors do occur, and at the worst possible times. When it happens, it cancels the print, which is not fun when you were 90% into printing an 11×17.
Price
You can’t find a better large-format printer for the price.
Final Thoughts
I’m sure it sounds like I am being negative about the printer by picking out all of its flaws, but I really do like it. I hope it’s helpful for you and know what to expect.
I do like the XP-970. It will hold me over until upgrading to the Eco Tank equivalent (ET-8550), and a UV varnish coating machine for large printing projects.
It gets 5 stars for its good price.
