This is a quality Epson all in one printer with several PROs and a few CONs; PROs: easy setup, fast printing, auto output tray (automatically extends when printing), easy to use touch control panel, produces high quality color prints and photos, does not use ink cartridges, has a large capacity ink tank that holds up to 2 years worth of ink (ink comes with the printer) / CONS; difficulty setting up wireless connection, wireless connection sometimes fails to automatically connect when turning printer on (have to constantly manually reconnect wireless function), printer model seems to only come in a white (no black model available) . Hopefully there’s a fix for the wireless connection problems, but overall this is a quality printer that I recommend.

this is perfect if ur working for Business I recommend for Retail that have to print a lot

I have only had it a few weeks so a little early for longevity results but so far was very easy to set up. I like the fact I don’t have to replace cartridges. I’m waiting to see how often I can print before filling ink up again.

Love this Printer. Best one I have purchased yet. I highly recommend this printer.
Linwood –
Ink are very affordable. This is the plus for purchasing decision

This is the best inkjet printer that Epson makes for the money. You can’t go wrong with this printer. The text is sharp, and the copies print fast. I have owned 12 inkjet printers and I have learned two things to keep them printing. First, print several copies every day to keep the nozzles from drying up. Second, since this is an EcoTank printer, keep the ink above the lowest level to prevent air from getting into the print head. Printers that have inkjet cartridges get air into the system every time you have to add a new cartridge causing print problems and that is one of the reasons one has to clean the print heads. I have also owned the Epson ET-5880 but had to return it after 10 months after a failed firmware update. The machine failed to turn off and back on after the update. This was also an excellent printer but not available when I needed a new printer. While waiting on availability for the ET-5880 or ET-5850, I purchased the ET-4850. For $250.00 more one can have the ET-5850 which is far superior to the ET-4850. The ET-5850 and ET-5880 come with 8 bottles of ink and the ET-4850 has only 4 bottles. The print on the ET-4850 is light and the LCD screen is much smaller compared to the ET-5850 or ET-5880. I have the ET-5850 and the ET-4850 setup as network printers so everyone in our house can print to them anytime from any device. Just make sure you download and install the drivers for the printers before you connect via Wi-Fi, USB cable, or Ethernet cable. After you get your printer setup and printing do yourself a favor and order a replacement ink maintenance box. The number of copies you get before you have to replace the box depends on how you use your printer. Every time you turn the machine off and on and clean the print heads you waste ink, and ink is dumped into the ink maintenance box. So, do yourself a favor print every day and leave your printer on.

Bought this for my wife’s small business office and just finished setting it up. I’ve bought and set up a lot of printers over the years and, admittedly, many of them have become very simple to set up. But this ET-5850 is the simplest I’ve ever come across.
I was fascinated and honestly a bit nervous about the EcoTank concept. The idea of dumping pigment into the printer felt like a potentially messy undertaking. But trust me on this: They’ve really thought it through, engineered it well, and made it just stupid easy. The pigment bottle nozzles are keyed to where you can’t accidentally put the wrong color in the wrong tank. There was no dripping or spilling, and it honestly looked like you would have to really make a conscious effort to do either. The nozzles fit nice and snugly, and when you have them seated all the way then they begin transferring their contents into the tank. It doesn’t feel like they could have made this work any better or easier than they did. I say all that because that was the part I was most hesitant about when ordering this printer – and now I know it’s just a non-factor.
The rest of the setup was just as easy. I think I was in for about 45 minutes from cutting the tape on the Epson box to mission accomplished, everything works and printing and scanning both tested from my wife’s laptop.
Also, I know some of the reviewers felt like the physical size of the 5850 was large. I’m the other way. I expected it to much larger and was impressed by its relatively compact footprint considering it is intended for small business use.
FWIW: I paid full price for this thing. I wasn’t given anything in exchange for my review. And I don’t even know anybody who works for Epson or any related company that might have an interest in a positive review. Just wanted to share my great experience with this product so far.

Seems great so far. Packaged very well. Kinda big. Looking forward to putting it through paces.
Mjjtahoe –
Really enjoying this printer no problems would by again good buy and it seems the ink cost less to buy ink as to a cartridge
EpicZZzz –
Clear and quick prints and love the ink savings for the cost
JaviAir –
So far so good. It’s prints super fast! Not too big for what it does. You won’t be disappointed.
June –
super printer – prints color prints fast. Ink has hardly moved since i received it. Love the large 4.3 display panel – much easier on the eyes!! Don’t see how Epson thinks people can see the display panel on other models that are only 2.3 inch.
Jaymes –
Amazing. Wish I could buy all these for myself. I’d start a business
Mike –
I love this printer, so easy to use and set up, I use it for my home use and crafting.
RyanB –
Great right out of the box but after 6 months of ownership started to get ink blots on paper. Hard to keep machine clean.
ChristopherR –
If you are using a Mac, not sure about a PC, then DO NOT but this printer. It is awful. I have to reload the software at least once a week and sometimes large printjobs take forever (100 copies, 2 hours). Avoid.
DrJD –
When it is functioning properly it’s a great printer and I love it. I have had a few communication issues which required a restart. Don’t know if this was due to my wireless network or the printer. All I can say is the other wireless machines in our office have not had any issues. The “free” ink refill system is a big asset and ‘sold’ me on trying this printer despite the price tag. “Free” means you buy the refills, mail the documentation back and get a refund. If you do a lot of printing, this makes economical sense. Would have given a 5-star rating if I didn’t have some of the early issues, but still would recommend it as I really like the product and all the functions.
Cosmo –
This home or small office all in one eco-tank is amazing. Easy and fast set up and you’re ready to print.
Nono –
The epson et-5850 was easy to set up, but not quite as easy to understand the mechanical action of the paper delivery. Wireless system, and fax were also easy to set up. Overall, it has been in service at our small business and it has been a workhorse so far. Filling the ink tanks are swift; I have to say it’s much easier with almost no chance of spilling ink via their newer ink delivery system [we have a smaller and much older ecotank printer at home and that was too easy to spill]. It looks like it will be a good steady printer for us.
AngelJ –
Definitely not what I was expecting for the brand and / or the cost…

As fast as you’d expect from a fairly top of the line inkjet, no issues with jams or skipping pages when scanning or copying, ethernet connection is flawless, great quality print – good photo quality. I had the model below this for all of two days and found it to be horrible. Jams, skips, WiFi connectivity was profoundly atrocious. (I’ve seen others here say the 5850 has issues also, so I rearranged some other devices to use ethernet and didn’t even try WiFi.) It is a large and heavy item – be sure to look at the specs… and don’t get too excited about the fact that it comes with 2 bottles of each color (and black) ink. The first bottle doesn’t even fill up the tanks – and the process of setting up the printer uses about 1/3 of the black ink (you’ll end up a bit over half full) and 2/3 of the colors. (you’ll end up right between the bottom and second from bottom line – and you should refill once it gets to that bottom line)
One issue is that unless I set every print job to “fit” on page it cuts off a touch of the top and bottom. You can save settings within the actual Epson desktop software but much harder from mobile.
Wostphoneever –
Terrible printer; very slow; sucks down ink – supposed to have a 2 year ink and EPSON and best buy would not honor.
RwayneE –
The copier has exceeded our expectations – so easy to set up and use – quality and speed are exceptional
Snoopy –
Purchased to replace HP C410 Photosmart All-in-One printer.
Ink costs less than C410 and has all features of C410 printer.
Epson ET-5850 can do automatic double sided copying, a nice feature because many current All-in-One printers only do manual double sided copying.
M3tho5 –
Works perfectly as expected. No issues with wifi setup, no issues airprint or android print. Even offers borderless printing. Had Canon printers prior, and will never go back to those again. This is how printers should be.
HollyM –
Really happy so far with this printer. I’ve been using it for a couple weeks now. I previously had a smaller Epson that worked well, but I’m opening a business and need a bigger printer to keep up with everything I need to print and scan. Super easy to use, and I’ve had no issues installing and using the software on my Mac. I’m looking forward to not having to buy expensive ink cartridges and and toner.
MariaB –
Easy to install
Fast and very easy to work with
Excellent quality printing

I have owned quite a few multifunction printers over the years. My last also being an Epson super tank bought in 2016. It’s still going strong but I wanted to have several of these newer features as well as a faster printer speed. I actually bought this model to use as a home printer. I do enough printing of things to keep it busy. So far I’ve printed in black & white, and color. I’ve faxed, I’ve printed a document and a photo using the smart print app and I am thrilled with the results. I don’t have any trouble with the paper jamming or not feeding properly. I have noticed the occasional out of place single dot of black ink (about the size of a sesame seed) along the very edge of a few documents though, on what would be page 2 of the document, even if I’m not printing on the second page. Hoping it clears up. Otherwise, the printer has been perfection for me The ADF worked perfectly when faxing mutile pages. With my former printer, it would often grab more than 1 page at a time, so I’d have to wait for the first page to start feedig into the ADF and then quickly put the next page into the tray, and so on, before the prior page was too far into the ADF. With this machine, I just stacked my documents into the ADF, selected fax, put the number in etc., and it worked beautifully. I would highly recommend this printer!

Love it.I purchase it again easy to use very fast very quiet.
DeannaD –
Having had an earlier version of an Eason printer, can’t say enough about the ET-5850 EcoTank. Love that I can see how much ink is still available. Love this machine!!
Austin –
Performs well. Mild issues arose when first trying to scan, but those were software based. So far, I’m impressed with its printing capabilities.
InkQuest –
The Epson ET-5850 is a super awesome printer! It’s really good at making prints that look just like my artwork. The colors are bright and the details are clear. I use it for my midjourney artwork, which is when I’m in the middle of my artistic journey and making cool stuff. The printer can handle different kinds of paper and it has a tray that can change sizes, so I can print on different things. It’s also easy to connect to my r phone, so I can print from anywhere. I use a lot of ink for my art, so this is perfect
Chelle –
Easy setup, user friendly and reliable. The only small complaint is it prints slow, but so do all the other printers in the same price range.
Omar –
I haven’t had any issues with it since I’ve bought it. Get ready for alot of technology and cheap run cost.
jems –
Great buy! Unfortunately the scanner utility is not exactly what I was use to. The Workforce WP-4530 had the Best Scanner utility. I wish Epson would have kept up with the same quality.
TriedEverything4WIFI –
I needed a printer that was relatively inexpensive to operate as i was replacing an hp page wide and wanted to have excellent quality and wanted to print from wided and wirefree devices. This printer checked all the boxes. Initially I was concerned thet i would give up some speed because I was improving the quality of characters on the page but really once it started printing. I was unable to tell the difference in speed. My only negative is that this printer was alot more expensive than the pagewide.
MelissaD –
Great for home office. Love that it scans and prints double sided.
Willy –
What a work-Horse! This machine will do anything and everything you need from it.
SyedA –
A very promising printer for High volume printing and document scanning environment. Print quality is improved from previous models with auto inkjet cleaning
RichardG –
Have been using it for a few weeks and about 8 reams of paper. Everything working well, no jams either in printing or scanning, lots of ink left. Has a great feature, often times when changing paper, I forget to pull out the tray that catches the print outs. This printer automatically extends the tray so the print outs do no fall to the floor. Love that.
Epsonecotank –
This is the best printer for small businesses, especially when you’re working from home

I own 2 of these machines, one at home and one in my classroom. The quality is excellent and the printing is fast, even for colored prints. I barely have to add ink and I print a lot. I highly recommend!!!

The unit works flawlessly in the church office. It is efficient in speed, in use of ink, and taking care of items in production. The staff makes use of the various features and enjoys the two drawers allowing us to keep envelopes in one drawer and regular paper in the other.
