Well, I have to say I’m a little disappointed. First of all the instructions are horrible, and I’m not paying for a QR code app to download instructions which are not included in the box. If you’ve ever owned any of the other Ember products like me, and I have had owned 2 Ember travel mug 2 and love them.(except for the caps that both broke and the replacement cap is a sippy cup, which is ridiculous )This one is different this Tumblr you can only adjust the temperature via the Ember app unlike the other Ember mugs that you can change the temperature right on the mug. needless to say, I spent an hour, trying to figure out why pressing the Ember logo would not light and go through the prompts of temperature change and naming my cup. You have to charge the mug when you get it ,download the Ember app and then press the bottom until it’s flashing blue, which is the pair mode. The only thing you can do in the Ember app is make the little tiny light a different color. Wow seriously and set the temperature. If you don’t have a smart phone forget it because the temperature will always be set at 135° which to me is pretty chilly for coffee or tea. On the flipside, it is a beautiful Tumblr, but lacks the convenience of the other Ember products, which are actually on the mugs to set the temperature and add your own logo.

The Ember mug is a wonderful product that enhances your drinking experience and makes your life easier. It is a perfect gift for yourself or your loved ones who appreciate a hot drink. I only wish that they would make the LED more pronounced, I can hardly ever see it.

I’ve had multiple ember products including two travel mugs and love them. This one is no different. Wish the batter would last more than 3hrs though. FYI, I’ve used mine mostly for green tea.

This is great when you make extra hot beverage that you want to take with you and keep it warm.

The new Ember Tumbler was a much needed upgrade compared to the cup I was using that I would continue to have to keep refilling at my desk and that I could not take with me on the road in fear of spilling while driving. Not only can I put more coffee or tea in the tumbler, up to 16 ounces, but I don’t have to worry about the spills with the convenient drinkable lid that comes with it along with the handle lid for carrying places. It fits perfectly in my hand and in my car’s cupholder and keeps my coffee and tea at the perfect temperature, even up to 135 degrees, and tasting freshly brewed for around three hours without fear of wasting a good cup of joe. It’s also very durable and well made. The smart phone application is very simple to use. You can set the temperature to your liking, save presets and receive notifications on your device. I have been so pleased with both of my Ember cups that I would recommend them to anyone for private use or a great gift for a friend or loved one for those special times of year.

When people get the black Ember Tumbler 16oz, they will definitely drink in a different way. This tumbler is a great example of both quality and new ideas. It’s very helpful and looks great.
Let’s start by talking about how it looks. You can use it at work, in a coffee shop, or on the go. The matte black finish makes it look classy and up-to-date. This item not only looks good, but it also makes your everyday life more stylish.
But what makes magic real is how well it works with technology. The Ember app and mug let you watch over your drink and make sure it stays at the right temperature. Your coffee, tea, or any other drink would stay at the temperature you set for hours. Enjoy every sip as if you had your own cook or coffee maker making sure it’s always perfect.
It’s just right. You can set the temperature for your favorite drinks in the app so you don’t have to do it every time. You can make things easier by telling the app when your drink is ready. That way, you’ll never miss the best time to enjoy it.
It’s also useful, which is an added bonus. With the spill-proof lid, you don’t have to worry about taking it to work or carrying it around. It can also keep the temperature steady even if you move around.
At first, the Ember Tumbler might seem a bit pricey, but it is well worth the money because it is well-made and easy to use and gonna lasts a long time and has latest tech built into something that looks like a very premium useful beverage accessory.
It’s also easy to clean—just wash it by hand, and it will stay in good shape. It’s also made of strong materials, so you won’t have to buy another one soon. It’s going to last a long time.
The Ember Tumbler is a cool, unique, and smart way to make sure your drinks are always nice and hot. It looks good, works well, and is very high-tech, so anyone who wants to drink better needs to have it.

I have heard great things about Ember products, and my path is different than most where my Ember path started with the Ember baby bottle system vs the coffee/hot beverage products that most users are familiar with. The Ember baby bottle system is a winner, however the Ember Tumbler fails as a Tumbler.
I’ll start with the good and slowly descend into why the Tumbler fails. First and foremost the aesthetic design is pleasing, and the charging system is simple and straight forward. Download the Ember app if you want to be able to adjust the temperature settings or don’t download the app and have the Tumbler default to warming any liquid to 135 Fahrenheit/57.2 Celsius. If you decided to download the app you can change the status light on the Tumbler to any color you desire. Plug in the charging puck into the outlet and think of it as a charging coaster that can maintain the temperature of your hot beverage indefinitely. You get two lids to those from, a leak proof lid that acts as a handle (you have to take the lid completely off in order to take a sip) and a spill proof sliding lid (easiest to use for quick sips).
There is nothing more to the Tumbler other than to pour in your hot beverage of choice. The liquid will cool down or heat up according to your heat preference or default to 135F/57.2C if no preference was selected. The Tumbler automatically starts working and will automatically shutoff if there is not liquid detected. All of these features are very nice and what is expected from a smart tumbler.
Ember states you get 3 hours of battery life from the integrated battery but I was only able to get 2.5 hours at most using the default temperature and in an indoor environment. One minor issue I found is it is hit or miss on whether or not this tumbler will fit in your car’s cupholder. In my truck the Tumbler fits, but in my wife’s car it does not.
Now for the biggest issue, I brewed black tea at the recommended temperature of approximately 212F/100C in the Tumbler as anyone has done in a basic mug or tumbler and found the Tumbler too hot to hold. I expect this from a ceramic mug which is why there is a handle, but I do not expect this from ANY stainless steel tumbler. A Tumbler should be able to provide proper insulation so that I can hold it without it being uncomfortable at high brewing temperatures. I tested my $5 no name brand tumbler and I had no issues with holding it while brewing at 212F/100C.
For this reason the Ember Tumbler completely fails. There needs to be more insulation in order to retain the heat. I understand that too much insulation could prevent the ember from adjusting the temp up and down as easily, but there is no excuse for the Tumbler to be too hot to hold. I asked five people on separate occasions to pass me the Tumbler once I had let the 212F/100C water sit in it for about a minute. I did not tell them about the issue I was having, I simply wanted to see if I was being too sensitive to this issue. All five picked up the Tumbler, walked across the room and asked my why the Tumbler was so hot.
As much as I like the tech in this, I could never recommend this to anyone since it cant function as a basic Tumbler.

Coffee is very essential in not just my life but also my wife’s. This tumbler with a 16 oz capacity is great for sharing and keeping our coffee at optimal temperature. Connecting the tumbler to the phone via the app with Bluetooth was simple and quick. From there you are able to check battery life and set the temperature of the drink. The advertised battery life is 3 hours which if I’m honest haven’t needed to keep if warm for that long while at most needing it to remain at my optimal temperature for less than 2 hours. Some complaints that I’ve noticed with this model is the fact that it won’t fit in a car cup holder. The solution to that problem is simple. Get an expander for your tumbler. I carry this in my car with the expander with no issues with spilling. The 2 lid options are good and I primarily use the lid that you are able to slide. It’s advertised as spill proof which at the moment holds true. Overall, this is a good capacity tumbler with the ability to retain a specific temperature for a long time satisfying the desire for a good cup of coffee in the morning.

This Ember Tumbler is essentially a 16oz version of the Ember Cup with a few lid choices included. It is their largest-capacity yet at 16oz and has a long-life battery that lasts up to 3 hours away from the charging coaster. It’s a sleek and stylish way to carry around a larger portion of warm beverage without spilling.
Highlights:
* Ember’s largest capacity yet at 16oz (bigger than their Travel Mug)!
* Long-life battery keeps beverages warm for up to 3 hours away from the charging coaster.
* Includes an insulated spill-proof lid with handle.
* Includes a Sip lid that is easy to clean with a removable slide part.
* Includes a smaller charging coaster that still works with all other Ember cups.
* Fits most car cupholders.
* Fully water-safe for washing by hand.
* Lids are safe for the dishwasher.
Room for Improvement:
* Bottom retains moisture after cleaning like all other Ember cups/mugs.
* Unlike the Travel Mug, must use the app to see/change the temperature and check battery level.
* Unlike the Travel Mug, must charge on a AC-powered charging coaster (one included) – not compatible with the Travel Mug’s Car Charger accessory.
Setup:
Like all other Ember cups and mugs, setup is super easy. Wash the Tumbler and lids by hand and then charge up the Tumbler using the provided charging coaster or the charging coster from any other Ember drink ware product (cup/mug/etc.). Once fully charged, open up the free Ember app and choose to add a new product. The app quickly connects to the Tumbler via Bluetooth and shows the temperature set point and Tumbler battery charge level.
Now that it is connected to the app, you can personalize the temperature units, temperature presets, and even the change the standby LED color so you can more easily identify similar Tumblers if you have more than one. A firmware update may be needed and if so, is quickly applied. That’s it for setup.
Usage:
Like the other Ember drink ware products, the Tumbler defaults to a set temperature of 135F so even if you never use the app to adjust the temperature, the Tumbler will hold your drink of choice at a temp that is a good base for coffee or tea. Of course, you can use the app to set it to your temp of choice between 120F and 145F and even customize presets by name. The built-in battery will hold that temp for about 3 hours off the coaster, or almost indefinitely if left on the coaster.
I have a few different sizes of Ember drink ware so I have a few of their charging coasters around the house; one at my work desk, one at the dining table, etc.. While the battery keeps things warm while away from the coasters, I tend to put my cup of the moment on whatever coaster is nearby which keeps things warm until it’s time for a refill.
The tumbler holds up to 16oz of warm beverages which makes it the largest offering by Ember – more capacity than even their Travel Mug! In fact, the Tumbler to me looks like a super-sized version of the 6oz Cup in design; but with a lid and a bigger battery.
You can use it at your desk like a really large coffee mug, but it also comes with two choices of lid. The screw-on lid has a handle and makes it easy to carry the Tumbler and not worry about the lid popping off or anything spilling. There is a rubber gasket to keep it sealed and little holes on the inside portion to make it easier to clean and drain the wash water. It’s also insulated to keep your drink warmer. The Sip lid is a press-fit with a rubber gasket and has a slide to cover the sip hole While it’s not completely spill-proof, it will minimize any messes if the Tumbler is tipped over. On the inside of this lid is a latch to easily remove the slide portion for cleaning.
Both lids are dishwasher-safe, but like all of the other Ember cups/mugs, the Tumbler itself is water-safe and fully submersible but should be hand washed only. On the bottom of the Tumbler, again like all other Ember cups/mugs, is a rubber coating to keep it from sliding around, the power/pairing button, and two concentric metal rings that mate with the pins in the coaster to charge up the battery. After years of using Ember cups and mugs, I know that this bottom section tends to collect moisture after being washed, and if you put the Tumbler on the charging coaster immediately after being washed, you’ll end up with moisture under the bottom and in the coaster. To prevent this, I always leave the Tumbler upside down for an hour or so to air dry before flipping it over on its coaster to charge.
As mentioned above, the Tumbler is Ember’s largest-capacity product yet. It holds up to 16oz of beverage whereas the Travel Mug only holds 12oz. They both have a 3-hour battery, but the main differences (aside from the 4oz difference in capacity) is that the Tumbler is really designed to work with the app. The Travel Mug, on the other hand, has a display and buttons so that you can control the temperature and see the battery charge level without the app. The Travel Mug also has an accessory charging coaster that plugs into a car’s 12v outlet for keeping it charged up while driving. The Tumbler only works with the standard charging coasters that connect to an AC outlet.
Overall:
If you’re familiar with Ember cups and mugs, this Tumbler is everything you love about them in a bigger 16oz version with a few lids. This supplements their lineup of 6oz, 10oz and 14oz cups with a new 16oz version and even hold more than their prior 12oz Travel Mug. If this would be your first Ember drink ware product, it may seem pricey for what amounts to a battery-powered coffee cup, but it’s really wonderful to never have cold coffee or tea again – when at home or out and about. That’s why I keep coming back for more Ember products!

Now that the chilly Southern California winter is upon me (I mean really, it’s gotten down into the 50s! BRRRRRR!), it’s nice to have something to help keep my tea and hot chocolate warm (I hate coffee). Heading into work or driving around in LA traffic takes forever and my drink would normally be almost to ambient temp by the time I got to my destination, but not now! The Ember 16oz tumbler fits perfectly in my car’s cup holder and is still a piping hot 130ish degrees when I get there!
The Ember 16oz tumbler is great for running around to meetings all around the campus since I’m not usually away from my desk (and my extra charging puck, the main one is at home), for more than 3 hours. If you do travel away from your desk, office, or home for longer than 3 hours, the Ember will still keep your drink warm, just not at the perfect temp you set, just like any other thermal mug.
My only real gripe about the Ember Tumbler is that you have to use the app to change settings and to check on battery levels. It’s not a huge deal because it maintains my temp settings from day to day and like I said before, I’m not usually away from the charger enough to run the battery down.
Is it a tad pricy for what it does, sure but it does do more than your regular thermal mug, and isn’t that what the holidays are all about? Splurging a little on yourself or a loved one to make them feel special and loved? Well, it is for me and I’m happy I have the Ember – Tumbler!

I prefer iced coffee in general since it’s already cold so I don’t have as much of a time crunch to chug it down before it gets to a temperature I don’t like as much. Trying out this Ember tumbler has changed my mind about my preferences somewhat since I now have a much larger window to drink a nice hot coffee before it cools off. That window of time is a little over 2 hours from the moment I started brewing before it starts to run out of battery and things cool off, but for what I needed that is plenty of time. It is not very well insulated though so when that battery runs out the temperature of your drink will drop very quickly so it’s best to finish it before running out of battery. It’s a bit weird having a Bluetooth connection and an app for a coffee tumbler but it exists to set temperature and check battery status and that’s just about it. The default is 135 degrees for coffee and for me that has been just right, but if you change it in the app, it will remember that new temp until you change it again. It has a little led indicator close to the bottom that is white when on and working, and it turns red when battery is low or it’s charging. For charging it includes a little saucer that explicitly states when you open the packaging that it cannot get wet at all. I don’t fully understand the use of metal contacts on the cup and charger when induction technology has existed for a long time that can charge things like toothbrushes even if they’re a little wet. As it stands, the warning about the charger makes me a bit nervous when cleaning the tumbler to make sure it is 100% dry before placing it on the charger which then takes about the same amount of time to charge as it lasts keeping the coffee hot. The tumbler itself is quite heavy due to the metal construction and the battery and other components inside it but thankfully most of that weight is in the bottom so it is very well balanced. It’s a little wide so it definitely won’t fit in all cup holders, mine requires a little bit of a squeeze to get in there which is a bit uncomfortable. It does have a power button on the very bottom, but it also automatically detects liquid and then shuts off on its own when empty if you finish off your drink before the battery dies. Lastly it includes 2 lids, one conventional sipping lid with a slider for closing it, and the other has a handle and is totally leak proof but has to be removed entirely to access your drink. It feels nice, looks understated, and does exactly what I hoped it would even if it has a couple small drawbacks. If you are a connoisseur of hot drinks, then this is a great option for making that experience more enjoyable.

The Ember Tumbler looks familiar to me. I’ve tried some off-brands in the past, so I was excited to try the leading brand in this technology. There are a few things that are important to me when it comes to drinking my coffee, and I’ll outline them below:
How much can it hold? This tumbler holds about 16 ounces, and more importantly, it fits under most standard coffee makers. I’ve had a few that didn’t fit, and 16 ounces hits the spot. It’s enough coffee for my mornings at work, and I can set it right under my coffee maker and fill it up.
What temperature does it heat up to? The Ember Tumbler hits the sweet spot here. I have a competing mug that gives me 135, 140, or 145 degrees. The Ember tumbler lets you choose 120 to 145 degrees, one degree at a time as long as you’re using the app; otherwise, it defaults to 135. This might not sound important, but believe me, you’ll find the perfect temperature in this range. I typically choose 135, but now that I have options, I’ll actually scoot down to about 130. What’s nice is it will hold it right there for you, as long as you can drink your coffee in 3 hours or less, and to me, that’s not a problem.
How does it feel in your hands? It’s close to the perfect weight and size. It also has a slightly textured finish to avoid any slips. It weighs about a pound and sits a little over 6 inches tall. I would say they nailed the design. It comes with two lids, a handle lid, and a sipping lid. They both fit well. The sipper is fairly easy to drink from, although I prefer to sip with the lid off.
How is the app? I downloaded this to both an Android phone and an iPhone. I did have a minor hiccup with the Android app. It might have been my phone, not sure, but I uninstalled and reinstalled, and I was up and running. The app has a clean and simple interface. Most importantly, the app lets you choose your temperature, and it also gives you a few features such as temperature, battery life, and allows you to personalize the LED color on the mug. You can also choose whether you want to use Fahrenheit or Celsius. Additionally, you can conveniently turn the heater off if necessary. It will also send you notifications once you have arrived at the correct temperature.
Is connecting easy? Yes. Connecting was easy with Bluetooth. You simply hold down the button on the bottom of the mug for around 7 seconds; it will start blinking blue, and the app navigates you through connection and setup. It will use a red LED when it needs a charge, and I chose a green LED which will light up once it has reached its temperature. When it’s heating or cooling to temperature, you will see a flashing white LED.
What are my thoughts? It’s a great design, and I can’t think of much I would improve. It might be cool to have more colors available, or to offer some more personalization on the tumbler with your name. The charge time seems to be around 2 hours to reach a full charge, so that could improve a little. The Ember Tumbler is a good size and feels good in the hand. It fits any standard cup holder in the car and maintains a 3-hour charge. I like that you can get down to 120 degrees, because in my opinion, 120 to 130 is a good temp for my coffee, although some might like it all the way up to 145. Some might say you should just use an insulated cup that holds temperature for longer. The difference is the Ember will hold the EXACT temperature for up to 3 hours. It’s great for walking out in colder weather, but it’s also convenient on my desk at work. I would highly recommend this mug for your daily driver. I’ll give it 5 stars because of the temp choices, size and weight, an app that looks good and delivers only the features you need, and a 3 hour charge time.

This caught my attention as I’m the type of person who usually finds themselves drinking cold coffee after getting distracted in the morning. While I don’t often travel with coffee, its appeal was still immediate. It does it’s main function well – keeping your drink warm (or even increasing heat) for a much longer period of time.
Despite this being a tumbler and ready to throw in a bag and go on an adventure, I often find myself using it while working indoors. With the charging base set up at my desk, it never runs out of charge and my coffee is always warm until it’s out. Unlike their mug offering, which typically would be best suited for someone like me, the tumbler lets me pick it up and take with anywhere a bit more easily, both inside and out. It also holds the most coffee of any of Ember’s offerings.
Before actually getting my hands on it, I didn’t really internalize that not even a regular tumbler has a heat profile like this. Normal insulated tumblers will lose heat at a constant rate, but Ember’s keeps your drink steady (for 3 hours at least.) But is it worth the cost difference? – I’d say yes and no… it really depends on your needs. If you already enjoy your drinks hotter, this may have a real benefit to you.
As for the build quality and 2 included lids – all is fantastic. The tumbler is a nice powder-coated stainless steel in an attractive matte black finish. Both lids are thick and durable, but minimal in design. This sip lid slides in without threads and feels secure with just the right amount of grip from the silicone gasket. The handle lid secures thought a minimal, partial threading on the inside of the tumbler. Similarly, it is well secured and I’ve never felt that it would loosen itself unintentionally.
While this doesn’t have buttons or a true read-out like Ember’s travel mug, it gains a larger 16 oz capacity as a result. Honestly, I’m fine that it’s not here. I’m the type of person who always prefers their drinks around the same temperature, so I simply set it once in the app and never have to think about it.
The app itself works well, with a simple readout and notification (if you want them) of when the target temp has been reached. The only thing I find slightly confusing is determining when the mug is charging vs heating. When liquid is inside, it seems to always heat while on the stand. When empty, it simply says ‘empty’ but the temp setting remains. I’m confident that it doesn’t heat in this state – (especially since the screen is shown in grey instead of red) but I wish it were a bit more explicit in it’s communication/messaging.
As others have mentioned, the onboard LED is a bit hard to see, regardless of its brightness setting, simply due to it being so low on the tumbler. Ultimately that’s not a biggie, and I understand that as simply being another small tradeoff of keeping all of the battery and electronics concealed at the very bottom of this tumbler, by design.
Overall, I really like this. It’s straight to the point and does what it’s supposed to do, without a lot of extra bells and whistles. I enjoy the larger capacity (after all, you’ll get more use of the heating feature when drinking over time) as well as the thoughtful minimal design.

I love coffee… anything that makes that drink better…I love that too and Ember keeps my coffee temp right where it needs to be AND I love Ember for that!
What a great product! Got my Ember 16 Oz and downloaded the app. Super easy set! charged it up for the first morning run the next day. 5 am came too early as it usual does but I was excited to use the Ember. Brewed a pot of my finest grounds and poured it in the Ember. It’s smart, it turned on when I poured my coffee and turned off when I finished it. Really cool! I love that I don’t have to take my cup back to the microwave a couple of times as I had to in the past…or when the coffee is sitting in the craft but doesn’t quite stay hot enough with the craft warner so I would have to microwave…. Those days are long gone! Ember had a consistent temp the whole time I enjoyed my morning coffee!!! You can also set it on the charging coaster and get the right temp all day if you’re a coffee junkie like me!
I also liked the two lid options. The handle is great for pouring a cup of coffee and storing it in my bag as I head out the front door for work with no leaking! The sipper is great for sipping from the get go! Both lids are dishwasher safe but you need to handwash the Ember. It is IPX7 which means you can submerge in water to wash. With coffee I usually just rinse it out but it’s nice not to have to worry about shorting it out with water!
It looks sharp and feels great in the hand. Over all if you are a Coffee person or any hot beverage person, this is a MUST HAVE! It really keeps the first sip as good as the last! LOVE IT! I wish they made an Ember cooling tumbler as well for my beer! Can’t go wrong with Ember!

It keeps my hot beverage at just the right temperature, it easy to use, and I think it as a cool, sleek look.
Design
The Ember Tumbler has a sleek rounded look all around. I think it looks very good, and normal, not like it has a battery and a heating element in it. There is a LED on the base but even that doesn’t really stand out. The body of the has a mat finish and doesn’t show fingerprints. It comes with two. Each have a smooth, shiny plastic finish. The bottom has a power button in the middle with two concentric metal rings around it so it will charge when turned any direction on the charging base. But the bottom of the tumbler has some extra weight from what I would guess is the battery and other components. That helps to make it more stable than you may think.
Features
You will want to install the app. It enables the key features and allows you to see the battery level, temperature, and adjust the temperature. Among other things. You need to give it 10 or 20 seconds sometimes to notice a change, like when you pour a drink in or turn it on for it to tell if it’s empty or not. But it works great. It will tell you the current temp and you can select a preset item/temp combo, or edit any of those. For instance, they have Latte at 131 degrees (F), Coffee at 134, and Green Tea at 137. There is also a timer for Steeping your tea. There’s even a link that takes you to a handful of beverage recipes. It does a great job maintaining the temperature for a 2 to 3 hours. It’s sort of weird at first actually when every sip you take, even after 2 hours, is still hot. I’ve been a bit sick the last few days and mostly used it with tea. I’m used to drinking my tea cold after a while but have really been enjoying it hot to the last drop! It’s great that the tumbler detects when it’s empty and shuts off so I need to to worry about wasting the battery or running it dead if I don’t turn it off right away.
Lids
There are two lids that it comes with. One screws on and off, as you may expect, and has an easy to grab handle. The other lid presses on and pulls off. The second has a slide to have it closed or open to reduce spilling or to drink from respectively. I said reduce spilling because, unfortunately, it didn’t prevent spilling for me. It just slows the rate that your drink comes out at. I think that’s pretty common in general but I was hoping they got it perfect on the Ember. I do like the design of the slide in that it locks on from underneath the lid. You can unlock the sliding mechanism to completely clean it and it will not fall off when you drop it. It just doesn’t completely seal when closed. I normally use the lid with the handle because I really like the handle to carry it.
Charging Base
The charging base works well. The spot for the Tumbler is recessed so it would be hard, maybe not even possible, to put the Tumbler in wrong and have it not charge. The power cord is about 6 feet long and has “brick” attached to the plug that goes in the wall outlet.
Summary
The Ember 16 oz Tumbler is an excellent choice if you want to have your hot beverage kept a just the right temperature for an extended period of time. It does that very well and, like I mentioned before, it’s almost strange that the drink never gets cold! It works very well and the app is simple and makes it easy to see and control the temperature. I normally use the lid with the handle but was pretty disappointed that the lid with the slide is not water tight. It’s slows the liquid from coming out a lot but it’s a lot more than a few drips that still comes out. Because of that I have to give this four stars. Still, the Ember Tumbler does what it says and does that very well!

The Ember – Tumbler, 16 oz – Black works just as it stated to work on its box. It has the ability to keep the temp of beverages (mainly coffee or tea) between 120°F – 145°F (50°C – 62.5 °C). I was able to take programmable functions of the Ember – Tumbler, 16 oz – Black by installing the Ember app. With the Embler app, I can program my tea to 137°F and receive a notification on my phone that my tea is ready to drink. The Embler app also has a timer for seeping various types of teas (Black Tea, Green Tea, and Herbal Tea). The Ember – Tumbler, 16 oz – Black kept my tea hot for over an hour at the temperature I set with the app. What I don’t like about the Ember – Tumbler, 16 oz – Black is the heat transference after pouring a boiling hot beverage inside it. It is impossible to handle until it cools down and I cannot travel with a beverage too hot (at boiling temperature). Also, it is too small to have a tasty hot beverage last for three hours. It would have more usefulness if it was a full one liter container. I finished drinking my beverage in less than an hour and then it must be carried around outside. The Ember – Tumbler, 16 oz – Black is simple to use through the app and manufactured with high grade technology. It keeps my hot beverage at the precise temperature that I set with the Ember app. I can drink two cups of any hot beverage for up to several hours, if I need too.

Works great and has lid.Fits in my cars cup holder.

I have used an Ember mug before and it works great to keep hot drinks like coffee or tea hotter longer than a ceramic mug would. I always bring a tumbler around so when I want to bring my coffee to go it would keep my coffee hotter than say a paper cup and it’s also reusable. So I figured I would give this a try because why not. This tumbler is 16 fluid ounces in size and comes with the handle top and a top that gives you a mouth piece as well if you rather use that than just opening the top itself. It also comes with the AC adapter and charging base as well which works like wireless charging your phone. Just put it on top and it charges. You also download an app to set the tumbler up with bluetooth connected to the tumbler as well. You can set a temperature that you can keep the coffee or tea at as well. As far as the battery life goes it lasts long enough where it’s not a hinder for you to use it multiple times as well. Also connecting it to your phone is quite easy with only one button on the bottom of the device which you can use to turn it off, on and connect to a Bluetooth device.

I have been putting the Ember Tumbler through its paces over the last week. Since it is for keeping things warm I have been using it for my coffee daily. First off, the Ember Tumbler feels well built and has some weight to it, but not too much. I would say it is about 20% heavier than my Yeti tumblers which makes sense given the battery/heating element inside. Second, it does work and works well for about three hours which is what Ember estimates. I would say on average at the 135 degree F setting my coffee stays warm around 3 1/2 hours. Additionally, it came with two lids. One for drinking and one for carrying around if you are using it for something else (like soup maybe). The drinking lid even comes apart for washing which is very handy. It has an app that connects to the tumbler via bluetooth and will allow you to set the temp and see what the current temp is. It’s a nice setup and clearly Ember has been evolving this over the years.
So why three stars then? Well, first off, the insulation quality isn’t great. The outside gets quite warm when in use and without the heating element working things cool off very quickly. Much faster than my ‘standard’ vacuum insulated tumblers. And forget putting anything cold in because it won’t stay that way long. So, this immediately places the tumbler into a very narrow set of use cases for me. Basically it is my coffee cup and nothing more for my lifestyle. Next, the charging requires you to pay close attention when setting it on the base as I have found myself twice without a charged tumbler in the morning and that makes my coffee sad. The handwashing’s situation isn’t a problem, but you do need to make sure you dry it thoroughly due to the charging contacts on the bottom. Maybe I didn’t get it completely dry and therefore it didn’t charge? I don’t know, but you definitely want to pay attention to the light on the tumbler at the bottom to insure it is charging properly. Lastly, it is hard to easily gauge how much battery is left. Yes, one can go into the app and then into settings to see what percentage it is at, but that isn’t exactly convenient. At least place the battery indication on the main screen of the app with the current temp.
The Ember Tumbler is a very neat concept but needs a little more refinement to make it worth the asking price. It might be the right value proposition for some, but one might need to be drinking more than just coffee to make it so.

—– SUMMARY —–
Verdict:
The Ember Tumbler is a modern and stylish gadget that offers a great deal of convenience. It’s designed to be safe for submersion in water and comes with dishwasher-safe lids for easy cleaning. The most impressive feature of this tumbler is its temperature control ability. Although it may initially lose heat faster than some competitors, it excels in maintaining the ideal drinking temperature for hours, ensuring that you never have to suffer through lukewarm coffee again. However, the Ember Tumbler is a high-end product with a significant price tag. It’s a luxurious upgrade rather than a budget-friendly option. If you value consistent warmth, convenience, and a touch of tech-infused fun, it is a worthwhile investment. If you’re merely looking for a good tumbler, there are more affordable options available.
Pros:
– Sleek, minimalist design
– Two leakproof (and dishwasher-safe) lids included
– Easy-to-clean stainless steel
– Compact and unobtrusive charging coaster
– Maintains your ideal drinking temperature
– Mobile app allows for personalized settings
– Customizable LED beneath the Ember logo
– Handy notifications
– Battery life becomes practically limitless when placed on the charging coaster
Cons:

– Pricey compared to other tumbler alternatives
—– DETAILS —–
Design:
The Ember Tumbler is a sleek and functional beverage container. It has a minimalist design and can hold up to 16 ounces of your favorite warm drink. The tumbler is made of stainless steel, which is easy to clean and can be submerged in water for thorough cleaning. There are two leakproof lids included: one can be used as a handle for easy carrying, and the other slides smoothly shut for secured sipping. Both lids are dishwasher-safe. Additionally, the compact charging coaster is included, making it a perfect desk companion to keep your coffee or tea at the ideal temperature throughout your workday.
Performance:
Although the Ember Tumbler may lose its initial heat slightly faster than some other stainless steel tumblers, it excels in maintaining your preferred drinking temperature. In my tests, the scorching brew from my coffee machine cooled down more quickly in the Ember Tumbler compared to another stainless steel option. However, it’s not a deal-breaker for me because I prefer my coffee at around 135 degrees, which happens to be the built-in preset of the Ember Tumbler. Once it reaches this temperature, it shines. The temperature stays remarkably consistent for hours, only dipping a few degrees under certain circumstances, such as when I take a walk. Before discovering the Ember Tumbler, I often ended up with lukewarm coffee. I would get preoccupied with tasks and come back to a disappointing cup. Now, my coffee is always perfectly warm, and I can’t imagine going back to the inconsistency of my previous tumbler or mug.
Mobile App:
You can take full charge of your beverage experience with the Ember app. While the Tumbler is great on its own, the app unlocks personalized settings for you. You can fine-tune your drink’s temperature to a precise degree between 120°F and 145°F to find your perfect “ah-ha” moment. Additionally, you can add a touch of fun to your every sip by expressing yourself with the customizable LED beneath the Ember logo. The app also keeps you updated with handy notifications, informing you when your desired temperature is reached and when it’s time to recharge your tumbler.
Battery & Charging:
On a single charge, the Ember Tumbler lasts for about three hours. Although some may think this is a short time, it’s perfect for me. I can finish a whole cup of coffee or tea before needing to recharge it. However, my wife likes to take her time with her coffee, so this short battery life doesn’t work for her. But the Ember Tumbler has a feature that solves this problem – just place it on the charging coaster and it will never run out of battery. You can brew a whole tumbler of coffee in the morning and enjoy warm sips all day long without worrying about lukewarm coffee.

Looks plain and simple but the build is solid with aluminum, plastic and the bottom has rubber/silicone to keep it from sliding. It comes with a charger/coaster, a screw on lid with a handle and a non screw on lid with a sliding cover.
With the tumbler full of water, It took 1 hour 20 minutes to warm the water from 70 – 135 degrees Fahrenheit while on charger. It took about 3 minutes to go from 125 to 135 and consumed 3% battery. Maintaining the 135 degree temperature in my room temperature of 74 degrees for 15 minutes took 18% of battery. After sipping my coffee for 30 minutes, the battery level went from 94% to 60%. This is without using the lid. Battery life is good enough for my needs.
There’s a power button on the under side of the tumbler but I haven’t figured its best use yet. If you set the heater off in the app, the power button is pretty useless. I think some button gestures should be added like a double tap that would turn the heater on to your desired temperature. Come on Ember! Without the app, there’s no way to change the temperature from the factory setting of 135 degrees. There’s a status LED at the bottom of the tumbler. The LED breathes white while it warms up to temperature you set. Solid white when the set temperature has been reached. You can change the color of the LED to your preferred color so that you can easily tell that it is your cup. It only shows that color when the heater is not on though. With the heater off, the preferred color will glow every time you move the cup.
This cup will help me keep my coffee warm in my office where the AC is always on and now I can take my time sipping on it.

Was the perfect gift for a guy who works outside in the winter and get busy ans forget his coffee in the truck! Easy to use, AND he actually likes the handle lid with all the things he had to carry into work.

To be clear, I probably have a little caffeine problem, and very much enjoy coffee as well as tea. That said, I think this tumbler is excellent, does what it promises and does it well.
I love the design. Simple. Clean. Plain. Matte black (mostly). This is more or less perfect for me. I like the look. I do really wish the lids were not glossy, but I understand why they are. A little nitpick, but just something to note. Beyond that, everything is built well. The tumbler feels solid and uses good materials (stainless steel…etc). The built-in LED used for status works well and is customizable. Honestly, however, I think its placement, while making sense, holds it back a little as it is not the easiest to see. The lids (one with a spillproof sliding lid, one with a handle) secure perfectly, do not leak, and are dishwasher safe (the tumbler is hand wash only). The charger is rather compact, has plain styling, and has a good build. It should never be an issue.
In use, I am happy with “nearly” everything Ember has done here. It’s a pretty simple concept, and they nail it. In short, when it comes to keeping your drink at a constant temperature, it just works. Pretty much full stop. It just makes my whole experience better. My main two concerns are that is seems to lose initial temperature a little quicker than other tumblers I have used and that when drinking tea (which is normally a little hotter for me) that heat transfers to the outside surface making it a little warm to the touch. As for my first concern, I guess it is nothing more than another nitpick, as the tumbler does a great job of keeping my drink at a temperature I actually want to drink it at. As for the second, that is somewhat of a personal thing, and it may not apply to you, again, just something to note. Taken as a whole, it works, and I like it.
The app, while not “really necessary,” is simple, intuitive, and useful. Drinks will default to 135°F, but can be set anywhere between 120°F and 145°F within the app. I really think it is worth it to play with it to dial in your preferences. Why not find out what you really like? You can also change the LED color here. Lastly, you can also see your charge status and set yourself up to get notifications when your desired temperature is reached as well as when it is time to charge your tumbler.
As for battery and charging, I think it is good. I think a lot of this will depend on your use case and what you are looking for. On a single charge, it lasts roughly three hours. For me, this is not an issue, and I “think” should not be for many others, but again, check your use case. If? you are using this at home, you can easily just place it on the charger and never have to worry.
Ultimately, I really like this tumbler. It does what it promises to do, and it does it well. It has a good build, looks great, and is simple to use. It is, however, somewhat of a luxury product. For someone who will use it daily, or often, and is looking for consistency and convenience, I think the value is there. It is for me.

As an avid coffee drinker, I have been waiting for an opportunity to use one of these Ember products for a while now, and it did not disappoint.
The 16 oz size and the wide opening make it easier to clean than my old travel mug. The big draw, of course, is the ability to fine tune the drink temperature. I like my coffee on the hot side, and appreciated that I could easily bump up the temperature a few degrees from the app after adding cream to it to get it to my desired temperature. The app is intuitive and works smoothly on my Android. Being able to change the resting LED color from the app is a nice addition as well.
The build quality is really solid. The powder coating feels like it will hold up for a long time, and the mug itself feels like it is made from very durable metal. The glossy lid simplifies cleaning, which is a plus. The rubber seal, instead of a twist top, ensures a tight seal.
The battery lasts for multiple hours, which is more than enough time for me to finish off my coffee each day without it cooling down. The charging stand is low profile and its design allows for the mug to charge when it’s placed in the charging cradle throughout all 360 degrees of rotation.
Admittedly a personal preference, but it’s a bit bulkier circumference-wise than I’d prefer, and is not as easy to grip as my other travel mugs. Also, it doesn’t fit well in any of the car cupholders in either of the cars in our household.
Overall, I am very happy with this mug and its app. It has been a worthwhile upgrade, and I am looking forward to putting it through its paces in the upcoming midwest winter.

Best purchase ever as I love to keep my coffee and tea warm throughout the day and not have to reheat it. The lid with the handle makes it so easy to take it with me.

The Ember tumbler is a very well-built product that does exactly what it says it does: keep your beverage hot for an extended period of time due to a built-in heating element. The product is high quality, it feels really good in the hand. Included with the tumber are two tops, one is the handle you see in the picture which unfortunately does not allow for drinking. The other is allows for drinking – it has no handle. It has a slot that opens and closes allowing you to drink / save heat. The best part of this top is that the drinking apparatus is removable and can be cleaned.
Unfortunately, the only way to operate the mug is through the app. Without the app, it is just a glorified mug, ALTHOUGH, if you setup the mug initially in the app, it will remember your settings going forward so in reality, as long as the mug is charged, you will never have to use the app after the initial setup. It just becomes a nice means of tracking the battery life and controlling the temperature if necessary. The app is nice, I will say. They say coffee is 135 degrees. In reality, coffee direct from a drip coffee makers is at 165 degrees. After adding a little milk from the fridge it drops to 145 (tested with a thermometer). As a result, I pushed the temperature control above 135, which maxes out at 145, which matches what I make with the drip coffee maker plus milk.
I did some tests for battery life. If you attempt to use this product to heat a drink from cold, you will get 1 hour of battery as the heating element is using too much energy. I heated 66 degree tap water and the battery was exhausted after an hour and the water topped out at 120 degrees. I mean, it isn’t terrible but 120 isn’t hot enough for those who like hot drinks. If you use the device as intended, that is, putting in a hot drink and keeping it hot, you will get upwards of 4 hours. I put in 165 degree water from a tea kettle and the Ember tumbler kept it hot for 3 hours at the max (145) setting. I assume that if you do lower temperatures you will get longer battery life. Of course you can always use the device while its charging.
The charging mechanism is a pad that has some charging rings on it. It allows for any orientation of the mug. I.e. it doesn’t have to be facing one particular direction. I would have preferred a much more visible LED indicator. It is a very small one at the bottom of the mug. The app lets you change its color, but that is just a novelty.
Overall, I give the product itself 5 stars, but at $200 I have to knock it down a star. You can get a super high quality thermos-style mug for much less, which is all most people need as they intend to drink their beverage not too long after putting it in the mug, at least that is my intention. Even in the case where I consume my beverage later, I am usually near a microwave to reheat it. As such, I think it’s a great quality product and unique concept that some people may find useful but I can’t recommend it.

The Ember Tumbler mug has quickly become an indispensable product of my daily routine. As someone who loves coffee and values both form and function, this 16 oz smart mug has exceeded my expectations.
First, the design of the Ember Tumbler is truly impressive. The Black matte finish gives it a modern and understated look that seamlessly blends with any setting and also provides a comfortable grip and insulates so it’s never hot to the hand.
What sets the Ember Tumbler apart is its smart technology. The ability to control and maintain the temperature of my coffee through the Ember app on my smartphone is really slick. Whether I’m indulging in a hot coffee during a work meeting or sipping on some hot sake for a night cap, the Ember Tumbler ensures that my drink stays at the perfect temperature from the first sip to the last drop.
The 16 oz capacity is just right for my daily coffee needs, and the spill-resistant lid adds an extra layer of convenience, along with the handle cap to carry when I’m on the move. The Tumbler’s battery life is impressive, easily lasting through my first two coffees of the day.
Overall, the Ember Tumbler has earned its place as my go-to coffee tumbler. Its stylish design, smart technology, and practical features make it a must-have for anyone who appreciates a perfectly hot drink, wherever you go.

The Ember Tumbler 16oz is a sleek and tech-savvy addition to the world of travel mugs, blending innovation with practicality. Designed to keep your beverages at the perfect temperature, this smart tumbler caters to both coffee aficionados and tea enthusiasts. While it offers several commendable features, it’s not without its share of shortcomings.
Design and Build Quality (4/5 stars)
The Ember Tumbler boasts a modern and minimalist design, fitting seamlessly into any lifestyle. The stainless steel construction not only adds a touch of elegance but also ensures durability. The matte finish, however, tends to show fingerprints, affecting the aesthetic appeal.
Temperature Control (5/5 stars)
The highlight of this tumbler is its ability to maintain your drink at the desired temperature through the Ember app. The range of temperature settings is impressive, allowing users to customize their experience. The quick heating function is a game-changer for those who can’t wait to savor their hot beverage.
Battery Life (3/5 stars)
While the Ember Tumbler offers decent battery life, it falls short for users who require extended use throughout the day. The need for frequent recharging can be inconvenient, especially for those constantly on the move. A longer-lasting battery would significantly enhance its practicality.
App Integration (4/5 stars)
The Ember app provides a convenient way to control the tumbler’s temperature settings. However, occasional connectivity issues have been reported, disrupting the seamless user experience. This was not the case during my time with the Ember Tumbler. The app and connectivity seemed spot on. Improved app stability would enhance the overall usability of the product.
Cleaning and Maintenance (3/5 stars)
The Ember Tumbler’s disassembly for cleaning is straightforward, but the intricate components can be challenging to clean thoroughly. The lid, in particular, requires careful attention to prevent residue buildup. A more user-friendly design for cleaning would be a welcome improvement.
Price Point (3/5 stars)
While the Ember Tumbler delivers on its promise of temperature control, the hefty price tag may deter some potential buyers. The advanced technology justifies the cost for tech enthusiasts, but budget-conscious consumers may find it hard to justify the investment.
Overall Rating (3.5/5 stars)
The Ember Tumbler 16oz is a commendable fusion of technology and functionality, offering an elevated drinking experience. Despite its notable temperature control capabilities, the product falls short in battery life, app integration, and cleaning convenience. If you prioritize cutting-edge features and are willing to make a significant investment, the Ember Tumbler could be your perfect companion. However, for those seeking a more budget-friendly and hassle-free option, alternative choices may better suit your needs.

The Ember Tumblers is delivering what is designed for. With a 16oz size, you finally have the right size for our breakfast drink that with the Ember proprietary technology can be maintained at the exact temperature defined by the user in the app.
In the box, you can find all needed to use your Tumble: the tumble, two lids, the “charging coaster” and the full power adapter. One of the lids is designed for carrying liquids with a full lid closed and the second one is for regular sipping.
Consider charging your mug before first use (less than one hour for a full charge) and during the charge, consider downloading your app and creating your account. The app goes very fast as your account, perhaps (depending on the version) you could also be required to do a software upgrade. This goes in less than 10 min.
After charging and with the app installed, thanks to the Bluetooth connection, you will have both devices paired. The app basically serves you to define the temperature at which you would like to have your drink. A few comments here:
.- Temperature options are between 50 and 62 Celsius (120 to 145 Fahrenheit). Yes, in the app settings, you can also define your unit scale.
.- The design is to introduce a warm/hot drink and to keep it at the defined temperature. Doesn’t seem to work if you introduce a cold drink and you plan to warm it up.
.- The battery can keep your drink at a defined temperature for three hours but this is more than enough for me. I drink my coffee faster than that so I can only refer to this with the specs.
For cleaning, despite some messages in the instructions about keeping the bottom side of the tumble dry when you are charging the battery, thanks to the stainless steel material, the tumbler can be cleaned directly (always hand wash) by submerging it under the tap. Just keep it dry for the charging. On the good news side, the two lids are dishwasher-safe.
Basic, easy-to-use technology and app that delivers.

My wife has many of the Ember mugs and was really happy to get this Tumbler with more capacity while still being able to connect easily with her app. In this version of Ember products she appreciates the new lid with handle, the smaller charging station coaster, the adequate battery life, and the fact that it can still charge on her other Ember coasters if needed.
Her wish list for small improvements includes having it just a tad bit bigger as 2 cups of coffee are a tight fit for it as she mostly uses it for storage to replenish her mug. (so she didn’t have a comment on the sipping lid but its great that it comes with two lid options) Personally I think that means you drink too much coffee. LOL While the Tumbler fits in her vehicle’s cup holder, her other wish is to have it be compatible with her car charger. That is the charger she probably uses the most with her travel mug.
So besides the minor wish list for a future version, she is very satisfied with the Ember quality and performance in the Tumbler that she has come to expect each and every day with her other mugs and travel mugs. With the addition of the Tumbler, she now has enough warm coffee for work!

Ember cups have been popular in our office and this tumbler is ideal for commuters.
This is controlled by the phone app exclusively (Via Bluetooth). The only control on the tumbler is the on/off button on the base, and a color light indicating state at the edge of the base.
The app works flawlessly. It never failed to connect. I also like that it has presets (or add custom ones) and it can optionally connect with Apple Health (on my iPhone) and track caffeine intake.
The heater will automatically shut off when the mug is empty. This has worked perfectly so far. It does not however turn completely off: The light and Bluetooth connection remain, but it doesn’t seem to use much power at all this way. It can be completely turned off by holding the power button for two seconds.
It comes with two lids. This seems to me like an interesting choice. One lid has a handle and locks in. It somehow looks very nice with symmetric curves that just looks very nice. However I personally don’t find it very practical because one has to un-screw it to drink from it.
The other lid does not lock, it’s held tightly by the rubber seal, and there’s no handle on it. It has a sliding tab to open and close it. It does not auto-lock, and will leak if the tumbler shakes or falls down with the tab open. It’s also the easiest lid when it’s time to clean: Twist the lock from the inside the lid and the tab comes off, all very easy to clean without the need of a brush. Just rinse/sponge and it can be cleaned in seconds. It’s a fantastic design on this regard.
The tumbler held charge for about 3 hours, exactly as advertised.
However, my mail peeve with this is that the insulation is very poor: The outside of the tumbler immediately feels warm when pouring hot coffee or tea on it. Not good, particularly because the heater has to work much harder than with a tumbler with proper insulation. Also the coffee tastes bitter and burnt after the 3 hours because the heater keeps simmering the coffee. With better insulation the beverage should taste good for longer and would be kept warm for longer.
Charging is via the included coaster. The coaster is powered by a wall transformer with a barrel plug. The bottom of the mug has two circular contacts that are gold coater for better efficiency.
The coaster can be used with other Ember products and the tumbler stays in place. Keep in mind that there is no USB-C charging option.
Overall, I like this but there is an issue with the impracticality of the handle lid and the lid that one can drink from does not lock. Then there is the obvious defect that the insulation on the tumbler is very poor. I tend to sip slowly so it’s a problem for me, but not so much for someone that drinks it within 90 minutes or so. Also the only wat to charge it is via the coaster.
The app is very well designed but there are no manual controls on the tumbler itself.

The packaging was simplistic and easy to unbox. As you unpack it you come across instructions and warnings. It comes with two lids. One being a handle that twists off. The other being good for sipping. I prefer using the handle because I will walk around work with it. It is a good and bad thing that I had to download the app. I wish it just kept my drink warm without the app. However, the app tells me the charge of the product, allows me to adjust the temperature and keeps track of how much caffeine I had for the day. It is the perfect size, not too big and not too small. The lights on the outside of the mug describe whether it is charging or charged. The lights also show if the temperature is ready to drink at my desired temperature. I did have one weird day with it so far. It told me the battery was low after taking it off the charger 45 minutes prior. The first few days I was able to let it sit in the office for a couple hours and then receiving that message. I wish I knew what level the low charge was. On the app it does not give me a percentage. The product mentions it auto turns off but I’m still unsure if I’m doing something wrong. I am hoping this one day was just a fluke because so far it has become my favorite tumbler.

I had the original Ember travel mug and used it daily for more than two years. This new one has better lids and better battery life. I like my coffee hot but I drink it slow, I don’t go anywhere without this mug. It fits easily in my 2016 and 2021 Ford cup holders. Clean up is easy too.
