I’ve been searching for a HIGH QUALITY espresso machine that was RELIABLE, problem free and would last. THIS IS IT! I’ve owned this Café Affetto for two whole days. It’s a quick learning curve. I followed the tips from the reviews on the Best Buy website, and everything worked like a charm the first time. I’m fine tuning it just a bit to increase the volume and brew time to my taste.
As a newbie to this machine, I found the following tips helpful:
1) If the SMARTHQ app does not work at first, try it again the following day. At first I set the MYCUP to a 3 espresso in a row setting. Instead I got 1 espresso, and it stopped. So I added an Americano, and an espresso and I was happy with the delicious crema, and volume, and strength of the espresso. Today, I was able to SET the MYCUP to a Longo, with the pink SET button. Ah, hadn’t seen that before! No wonder it didn’t ‘take’. I’m hopeful it will work tonight after dinner.
2) I also learned that if you want to adjust the grinder size, you need to turn the wheel WHILE the grinder is GRINDING. Who knew?
3) The steam button functions wonderfully, and after preheating it with the first push, I push it again to begin steaming.
4) I added more beans to the hopper, added more water to the container, and cleaned out the ground pods from the drawer in front just to familiarize myself with the process.
5) I found that by turning the machine to the side, out from under the counter, I was able to access the water container easily, and with a minimum of effort.
HOW EXCITING to have a machine that so effortlessly prepares an excellent espresso with the push of a button or two. No mess, no fuss. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY!!! I don’t mind the price for the convenience, beauty, and excellent results.
If you’re sitting on the fence, BUY IT! It matches all my other stainless steel appliances in the kitchen, and I can’t wait to offer my guests an espresso after Thanksgiving dinner. Woo Hoo! This Café Affetto Espresso Machine is a definite winner. BIG SMILE!!!

Great machine! I’ve had it for 2 weeks and i’m very happy with it so far. I have been enjoying lattes every morning now without having to leave the house. My only issue and reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the milk frother. I need to froth the milk a 2nd time in order to get it hot enough. Frothing once just isnt quite hot enough. Otherwise no complaints. Having everything in one machine is very convenient.

Great espresso machine, learning how to use the steam wand but seems to be getting easier. Wish it would come out to the front, not just the side, but that’s minor. Makes amazing espresso every time, super easy to maintain (very little cleanup).

Definitely one of the best ones out there! Is very easy to use and grinds it perfectly, exactly as I like it. Controls are easy and simple, and so is the cleaning aspect. My favorite way of having coffee, now, is this machine!

Although i do like the looks of this machine itself, I have only had it 2 full days. On this second day it has already told me to ‘ADD/STIR COFFEE BEANS”. I did, thinking no big deal BUT it would never clear that message. I made sure I was using the correct bean (a medium roast) and had a enough beans in the hopper. I used the trouble shoot guide and STILL have the error message. What good is this if you cant clear the message to brew the drink??? Very frustrating. Most likely going to return this and go back to my other De’ Longhi brewer which seems to be at this point, the better brewer.

I’ve had this machine replaced already for the steamer failing to foam properly, and the same problem is back again after just 2 months. I agree with the other great reviews when the machine works but after 2 months the steams magically stops producing a good foam for the latte. I’ve tried everything including descaling, running hot water through the steamer, etc, but nothing seems to return the steam wand to its original form. Make sure you purchase a warrantee with this thing if you choose to buy

I think it’s okay, but the coffee isn’t as strong – you should only use medium roast, no dark roast beans in the machine. Overall, I didn’t think it was worth the price.

Awesome!! So much better then using a machine that takes coffee pods but not hard to use like a espresso machine. No mess and I love that it grinds the whole beans. But it keeps telling me to descale though even after several times of doing it. Still Recommend it the coffee is great.

It is too loud, too slow and too much maintenance, it uses a TON of grounds, the water runs out so fast, you have to be very careful to not have any water drips on outside of water pitcher or you get vapor lock. It is not hot enough. Sadly beside it looking good, i have nothing else good to say

For a $500 machine, quality is very poor. Water isnt hot enough, espresso is bland at best. Design is sleek and elegant, but service and quality of coffee is bad. Water tank placement could be improved as well.

Hard to connect to WiFi and when I couldn’t change anything on the app!!! It continued to give .75 ounces of espresso!!! Couldn’t change it!! Do you know how much .75 ounces is?? About a thimble worth!!! This machine sucks!!! I returned it in less than 5 days!! Word to the wise stay far away from this espresso machine!!!

I loved the fact that it grinds each serving individually. I don’t believe it is very well made compared to other brands. I hate that things are so Wi-Fi dependent. It’s coffee for crying out loud! But this is Wi-Fi / app dependent.
