Yeah, so I can’t take all the credit. The preset Gold Cup mode (the default setting) is designed to make coffee that is consistently good, provided you follow the guidelines with regards to ratios of grounds to water, use freshly-roasted beans, filtered water, etc. You do need to do a few setup steps the first go around, but after that it’s straightforward, and pretty user friendly. The complication comes in messing with different settings to see if there’s some alternate method you like even better. I haven’t experimented with making iced or cold-brew, yet. Soon, though; soon.
I like having the option to brew up to 20 oz (single cup limit) and place my travel mug directly into the unit; no need to worry about cleaning the carafe afterwards!
Speaking of, it’s debatable, but I will say that I find the glass carafe preferable in terms of both taste, and the ease of maintenance (I ordered the glass version online, since they only carry the thermal ones in-store). Some say it’s better to have the stainless steel thermal one, but I pour the whole batch right away, so keeping it warm isn’t of concern to me. To each their own, though.
Also, I do recommend investing in a good quality conical burr grinder. They’re more expensive than blade grinders, sure, but it’s worth it if you want better tasting results, I’d say.

Pros:
-love the customization
-great smooth full bodied brew
-looks great
Cons:
-kind of big
-a lot of water is left in the reservoir… enough that this is a main reason I returned the coffee maker
-the burner keeping it hot wasn’t consistent
-too many pieces to keep track of
I struggled with keeping or returning because I really liked the coffee, and I really liked the idea of using this to make pour over coffee. However, I was worried about the long term use and for the price it was fairly close to the Ninja.

Nice but expensive coffee maker. Makes good coffee and has a lot of options for different brews and temps but would be nice to have a longer keep warm time if needed.

Yes, you can make a wildly customized cup of coffee, but you really have to be a true coffee lover to understand it all. We put it on the gold standard and let it roll.
EN90 –
This coffee maker makes excellent coffee and fast.
Pros:
fast
taste
various features
cons:
the unit is bigger than I was expecting.

This makes the best coffee I’ve had at home. It’s wonderful. But it drips every time you take the carafe out. Even Mr. Coffee has this figured out.
Most importantly, the first heating element stopped working pretty quickly and they sent me a new one. The new one immediately didn’t work. They have serious quality control issues and can’t be bothered to guarantee quality at this pricepoint, so I can’t give it any stars. For this cost, it’s time to take some responsibility for the product quality.

Best tasting coffee ever
Fast brew and smooth coffee

So tired of drinking lukewarm coffee. Searched and searched for a brewer with adjustable temperature. While it does fall short of percolator pot coffee it is hotter than any other makers we have had. Nice looking and feels like a better build than the others also.

Garbage.
We had the thermal one and the glass one, both make good coffee, but the problem is that the thermal one doesn’t keep the coffee hot at all. The glass one is cheaply made and makes a mess of itself when it drips into the carafe. The baskets on both end up creating a mess under the cone filter as well.

Coffee maker works great, but intimidated my (silver haired) parents. We had to sit down w the machine and the manual and go through the options and interface carefully, repeatedly. Now that they know the drill, they love the machine and coffee.

Completely satisfied with this coffee machine.
You can customize the strength and temperature of you coffee in the my brew program. The iced coffee program makes excellent coffee. Programming this machine is easy. If you have problems programming things, the directions to are easy to follow.
We got the glass carafe and the warming plate keeps your coffee hot for 2 hour’s. The filter basket might drip once or twice when you pull the carafe after it just brewed, but what coffee maker doesn’t.
I highly recommend thus coffee machine.

The Breville precision coffee maker is by far the best coffee maker I’ve owned to date. With the bloom time and flow rate and temperature adjustments, you can dial up the perfect cup of coffee. Build quality is very robust, just a all around great machine.

Good coffee maker, always happy with breville products

I’m what you might call a coffee snob. But, sometimes you want simple and most of all repeatable. this is exactly what this is. I use cone insert with paper filters (that don’t come with) and do 4 cups on gold setting. I’ve weighed and measured everything and it is spot on. Cheers to good coffee.

Thought I’d buy an expensive coffee pot that wouldn’t leak water on the counter like my past cheaper ones have. After only five brews this one has started doing the same thing!
I guess mankind cant make one that doesn’t.
Second photo shows where it leaks while brewing.
I really wanted this to be the best.
Taking back for a refund 🙁

I read the reviews and still thought the negatives were isolated incidents. The first time using it failed in two ways. First it accumulated air bubbles in the water tank that prevented the sensor from acknowledging it was full of water. I had to disconnect the machine take to the sink and turn it over to dump out the water. Then I filled up with water again and it still would not work. This time the “insert carafe” was showing. I had to put the carafe in and out 4 times before it acknowledged. I returned the next day and bought a cheaper Cuisinart that does not look as fancy but I feel will last for years trouble free.

Brews the best coffee. I use freshly ground coffee beans.

This coffee maker makes good coffee. However. If your cafafe cracks or breaks. Breville will screw you. Can not get a replacement carafe. No where online. Nor breville will not sell you a replacement. Always out of stock . They have no sympathy at all. Mostly rerouted calls over seas. 6 months now. No carafe. Do not buy. Best buy will not help either.
Worstcoffeepot –
The worst coffee pot for the money!! It worked for a month and a half. It exploded once about a month in and then stopped workin a week later
apples –
High quality machine that makes a great cup of coffee
Javier –
Keep getting the fill tank error even though the tank is full of water. Do not recommend buying. To fix, you have to dump the entire tank out(tank is not removable either) then refill. Afterwards, you can not have water sitting in the tank for more than 5 minutes, which means you can never program it to make coffee later. For the price, it should have a better water tank sensor. Returning it and buying something else.

Easy, makes great coffee and no issues witht the unit at all. Great quality. I paired it with the Beville grinder and use it most days of the week. Do not regret this pirchase at all.

This brewer is precise! The covfef is consistent and delicious. Highly recommend!
DaL1 –
Super easy to use. Nice and clean design. Makes great tasting coffee and tea too!! One thing I wish it had was a removable water tank for easy cleaning. Best Buy delivery was super fast!!!
AmandaM –
Splurged on this higher priced drip coffee maker. Have had cuisinart and mr. coffee machines, but none seem to last more than a few years. This takes up a lot of real estate and barely fits under the cabinet, but we use it daily, so that’s ok. Has many brew features I may never use, but if it doesn’t break down after 3 years, I will say it’s a good value.
Britt –
You’re requesting a review for an item for which Best Buy immediately cancelled my order as you’ve been doing for the past year. This is occurring because of the thousands of dollars I’ve spent with Best buy, i have one item not delivered for which i raised a dispute and I’m therefore blacklisted from online ordering. This is absurd.
MicheleW –
I am so disappointed with this coffee maker. I just had to order a replacement glass carafe for the third time. I pretty much spent almost an extra 100.00 dollars for a replacement.
CentralPA –
After 11 months of daily use, the unit has failed. It trips the breaker halfway through the brew cycle. This is the second Breville Precision brewer I’ve purchased in four years. This lifespan is ridiculous for what is allegedly a high-end brewer.
Now I get to experience the joy of sending it in for warranty repair (at my expense, of course) and waiting several weeks / months for it to come back.
I’ve had cheap, entry-level coffeemakers outlast this. My next coffeemaker will not be a Breville.
