- The Battlefield 2042 Gold Edition contains:
– Year 1 Pass: four new Specialists (one per Season), four Battle Passes (one per Season), and three Epic Skin Bundles (Blistered Earth, Tempest, and Cold Blood)
- World transformed by disorder
In 2042, extreme weather events and resource conflicts have shifted the balance of global power. The United States and Russia stand at the brink of war, while a mix of Non-Patriated combat veterans form independent groups known as Task Forces. - Vast and dynamic environments
Get an even greater sense of spectacular, large-scale war on seven massive maps – crafted through a revamped design philosophy. - Each battlefield has multiple distinct combat areas housed in a single playspace, and this extra space means more variety and more meaningful vehicle gameplay – tanks have more space to roam, fighter jets have more airspace to maneuver.
- Cutting-edge arsenal
Unleash your combat creativity through a full roster of cutting-edge weapons, vehicles, jets, helis, and all-new equipment inspired by the near-future of 2042. - Specialists
Choose your role on the battlefield and form hand-tailored squads through the new Specialist system. Based on Battlefield’s four Classes, Specialists have one unique Specialty and Trait – but the rest of the loadout is fully customizable. - New seasons, new content
Themed around new narratives, Seasons will bring content such as Specialist soldiers, locations, weapons, and vehicles. - Up to 128 simultaneous players
For the first time in Battlefield’s history, 128 players can join the all-out war at the same time. - * Conditions and restrictions apply. Not due to the game but due to the awful support by BestBuy and their lack of ability to provision keys on time.
JG54 –
The instructions said I would get the code within an hour. I bought the day before to pre load so I could play release day. It is now 11AM cst with no code and talked to 3 service reps. No Luck. Was told it takes 24 hours to recieve a digital code. Will cancel and go buy at EA.

Terrible job at sending codes out… Ordered 3 days ago so I could get code and install but come release date and mid afteroon still no code !!
Jrome –
Purchased this 3 days ago, and still have no code. Literally just says preparing for the last day and half. Would give this zero stars if possible.
AwfulWaffle –
Blamed the developer for codes not going out, yet are fulfilled via BestBuy. Take responsibility for your blunder.
Aiden –
Like other reviews, I pre-ordered expecting to have the game sent to my email at launch or at least pre-installed. Not a thing has been delivered and its been 13 hours since launch. Horrible way to deliver digital items!
Chris –
never preorder games through bestbuy. digital codes will not appear on time. get it through main provider
Dominiccolon1 –
Bought the game to play the pre release and put in the key into orgin and the game disappered not downloading or amytjing jusy gone.
Peedi –
Learn to be on time with your keys. Waste of time and money.
Caleb –
Pre-ordering this from BestBuy has turned into a joke. Get it somewhere else where they’ll give you the product when it’s promised.
spencer –
They still haven’t sent any code. Will we ever get our codes?
tidalwaves22 –
Almost 17 hours in and no download code. Please note, Bestbuy you’ve lost a ton of customers, because this is the final straw. There are so many other outlets to purchase games these days, and I will not be buying from you again. Coming from Elite CC holder. Requesting refund and I’ll buy from Steam/Origin/EA Play or the 30 other 3rd party options and get the game on time.

Man this is crazy if you know the codes will not or do not work just fix it dont BS me and tell me its the developers fault when this game has been availble for preorder for almost 2 months now and then when u get the code and enter it at origin it vanishes and cant be downloded….seriously best buy
Dieselhunter91 –
Best buy failed to deliver the code…still. A total let down.
Anon –
Received a code only to find out it is for bonus digital content. They didn’t provide a game code.
SUCKS –
-10 for not being able to buy this. Is this or joke or not?

Was the Best Buy Beta and Release perfect? No. The Beta had no code, but easily enough I went to steam and played the Beta through that, no big deal. Was the release on time? I received my code the day of release. I was not paying so close attention of the offical release time, but nonetheless I got my code. Yes, I had to go to origin and redeem my code. Was this a deal-breaker? Absolutely not, I got the product I paid for.
Now, to review the product. I haven’t played Battlefield much since 4. Battlefields 1 and 5 didn’t do much for me, I enjoyed the modern stuff much more. The game has its bugs still (what release doesn’t) but overall I’m very impressed. There is much to get used to, I miss the simplicity behind Battlefield 4’s class customization. I’m sure switching over to PC isn’t helping much either. Dice did a great job coming back to modern warfare, and the larger player numbers was an excellent touch. I am very satisfied with the game. Though the Best Buy experience was not the greatest, i still got my code the day of release, I just had to go to Origin to redeem. Plus my pre-order came with the steel case, that was a nice touch.

The game still has some bugs right now but it should be fixed later on. Its very fun but getting the code took some time.

Take the digital code in the digital library, go to origin, click origin in the top left, “redeem product code…” works as it should.

Don’t let this scare you….works fine

The game itself is okay and has many issues including performances from servers and client end. It has bugs, but is very fun when it works. EA and Best Buy couldn’t get their verification thing to work for several hours. I received the code about 15 hours after the early access began. For the moment, I would avoid the game at full price until it’s fixed.

The game is really bad don’t spend the money on this, 30fps stated by mostly all unless having a 3090rtx desktop lol it does ok. More like a call of duty game, a boring simple, and easy arcade feel game. flying is not the same if you thought battlefield V was bad you are in for a surprise with this. Could even damage the laptop, my 3070 blurs out and sends plenty of jams along.
Bigjim1991 –
Great game. Don’t listen to a lot of the complaints, game runs fine
Themaggot –
This game has so many issues. It just hasn’t been that fun to play it this year. No idea what they were thinking.

I’m a old long time BF fanatics. They change, but for me is great.
TechScout –
Best Buy’s key delivery left a lot to be desired, not getting the key until after 7pm on launch date. Paying extra for early access, to then not be able to play with buddies who ordered on Origin and Steam was pretty frustrating.
But once the key arrived and the nearly 50GB install completed, the game has been fun. Far better with friends, as the in-game VOIP doesn’t exist at launch. It takes some time to learn the advantages for each of the new Specialist types, but you can always simplify back to familiar loadouts and go from there as you learn the rest.
The launch was definitely a bit rough, with a lot of bugs and server issues, but that has largely settled out.
The game is getting better as we continue to rank up and play. Most fun of all, 2042 delivers on those classic “only in Battlefield” cinematic moments. I haven’t had this much fun in a BF game since BF4.
Portal brings back some great maps and loadouts from the past, in particular one of favorites: Arica Harbour on Bad Company 2. I’ve been playing BF games since BF2, but have played them all in the years since. It’s fun to revisit past design decisions in Portal.
This release returns BF to a multiplayer only ecosystem, so be aware. No campaign like we’ve had since BF3, but well worth your time if you’re willing to put in the effort to rank up and get better toys to play with.
Juke –
Disappointing. This game runs better on console. If you have a PS5 or Xbox Series X, I’d advise you go with either of those over the PC copy.
Captain011 –
Graet detail to graphics with hours and hours of fun
Myrmidon –
One of the games of the year for sure. Lots of fun, and the graphics are stunning. Must have for all FPS gamers
Bestbuysucks1 –
game is alright, has its issues but if you like battlefield you will enjoy. best buy is a total waste of your time. go buy somewhere else. they didnt get codes to purchasers until 24 hours after the games release. dont give them money
Jerm –
This game was a flop. No battle royale and minimal replay value. Wish I would have not purchased this no less the gold edition for early play. Very dissappointed.
pman –
horrible game would not buy if I would’ve known this game would be this bad
Ploppy –
I have been a Battlefield fan since BF 1942. Each new edition has its problems, but this one is just too broken. Even after a couple of months it still has problems. This is basically the beta version. I stuck with it after my initial frustration, and was starting to get into it. However a patch was released yesterday and I can’t even play it today as the servers are down. I should not have bought the season pass as I’m not sure I’ll be playing it for much longer
SecretAgentMan –
I regret this pre order so much. It’s a fun game but super buggy and lacking in content. I also don’t like some of there decisions about direction of game from here.
BigD –
Best shooter out there! Try it and you’ll fall in love. If you like first person shooters, this is the one for you!
cdbern860 –
Loyal BF player, was very dissapointed on release but it is slowly getting better
Custie –
Bought this for PS4 when it first came out. It wasn’t the caliber Battlefield fans were used to at the release. Since purchasing it for PC I’ve noticed its coming around and is good sometimes awesome. It’s a break from the Battle Royals and has maps a 3rd of the size of GTA5 map, kinda..
DS14 –
Great game, with a lot added to it. Visuals is great, gameplay and mechanics is great, and able to play past titles and customize servers to your liking with those titles is refreshing. A lot to choose from fpr what you’re preference is.
