Boogaboo –
Extremely durable anodized aluminum speaker (this thing is heavy and built like a tank)…It looks amazing, is durable, water resistant to 1 meter for 30 mins(!), 27 hours of play time on a single charge (confirmed up to 20 hours myself). You HAVE TO use the app to tweak it to the sound you like (nice controls in app), the out of the box sound is generic for all ears, set purposefully. Many reviews say its bass is weaker than Bose etc, maybe a little, but you have to go into the B&O app and up the bass if that is what you like…Did I mention the look? Amazing! The sound? GREAT for a speaker the size of a soda can!!!

Very crisp audio, I love my new purchase
Very glad I went with this choice.

What sound, what power! By far the best speaker you can buy.
Mary –
Not up to B & O’s usual sound quality. Ended up returning it.
Fliptop007 –
Best Bluetooth speakers ever. The sound quality is amazing two speakers can fill a large room with wonderful sound.

Bruh…. what is this?!?!? I was so disappointed to try this out. Knowing B&O they are usually known for making outstanding products. Though a bit expensive, I always thought they were worth the money. That was until I met this…..
This speaker has only 2 Tweeters. No subwoofer / Radiators, no amplifier (If so not a good one) & it just was overall a huge letdown.
A lot of people say you have to try the B&O app for it to perform better. True. The app does help, but not much….. take my advice, don’t buy this speaker. I recently bought the Bose Flex speaker which just came out for $149, that one is FAR better than this “Speaker”.

I wanted to be both awed and impressed by the Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore Portable Speaker. My expectations were based solely on the stellar reputation of B & O. While unboxing I was thrilled with it’s solid build, compact size (slightly larger than a can of soda), and high-end, scratch-resistant finish. Advertised as water resistant for up to 30 minutes in 1 meter of water and boasting the ability to withstand a fall of up to 1-½ meters this speaker begged to be taken adventuring on the weekend. Unfortunately, once I connected my phone via Bluetooth I quickly realized that while the 360-degree sound it offered easily filled small spaces this speaker was not the powerhouse that I was expecting it to be. Even after using the app to adjust the sound there was still some distortion at high volumes and the base was lacking. While I really liked the aesthetics and features of this speaker it just didn’t deliver the commanding performance that I was expecting from the sticker price and brand name.

The Bang & Olufsen – Durable Portable Wireless Bluetooth Speaker in an Anthracite-colored, hard-coat anodized aluminum casing is rugged, beautifully manufactured and produces excellent 360 degree quality sound.
Why take away a star for such a stellar outdoor-ready, Bang & Olufsen high-quality sound speaker? Because the controlling B&O application is not ready for prime time.
During set-up, I downloaded the B&O app from the Playstore and proceeded to chose the Beosound Explore from the list, as instructed. After myriad attempts, fully charging the speaker, turning the speaker & Bluetooth off and on, restarting and reloading the app, the app still could not find my new Beosound. It hasn’t yet.
This is even though my Samsung phone found it immediately and connected immediately. And even though my Samsung television found it immediately and connected beautifully. And my Asus computer did the same.
This small, portable, light-weight, well-built speaker that comes with a carabiner and built in strap to carry on your belt, vest or backpack sounds great with all these sources and is really impressive with its full-bodied sound.
I am just sorry that I can’t get the app to recognize that it exists, so that I can remotely control it.
B&O, it is time for a bug fix.

Love Bang & Olufsen and if you know the name too, you will know they make some excellent speakers. The Beosound Explore is a great little speaker a little bigger than a size of a soda can that packs some great sounds. App is plain but still full of features to suit your needs.
In the box is one superbly built speaker. Nice and heavy (not too heavy) and super portable. You can even pair it with another Explore to enable stereo mode. Easily can take it on the go with you anywhere. It does come with a charging USB C TO A cable, but it warned, you need your own adapter for it.
App is nice once you DL and pair the speaker to your device (I used my phone). Can change the volume, presets, check battery life and can customize your own equalizer settings. I actually like the circle-type equalizer and I can change it while listening to music and hear real time changes to make sure I get it to where I want it.
What’s great about this speaker is the sound quality for mids and highs. The 360 sound is amazing and can fill up any room and can get loud. Now with a little flaw, the bass ranges from non-existent to pretty meh. When turning up the speaker I’d say past 60%, the bass gets distorted and starts to go out. No oomph that I was hoping for. For non-bass heavy music, it sounds amazing though. Mid level volume sound great and even using the equalizer can sorta save the bass a little.
Battery life is where it shines as well. I charged the B&O to 100% and streamed to it roughly 6-7 hrs a day for 4 days and it’s at 58% at the moment. I am also not blasting it at max volume though but also using my own personal presets.
It’s a great BT speaker but the bass falls short in my opinion of B&O super high standards that I am used to.

The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore durable portable wireless Bluetooth speaker is very impressive. It is amazing how simple it was to set up. The Beosound also has amazing sound for such a small package. Not to mention it is made of metal and very solid. Being made of anodized aluminum, it can withstand a fall of about 4.5 feet. Add the IP67 rating which means it can be submerged in 3 feet of water for 30 minutes.
This speaker is packaged very well in a small package. See the picture for what is in the box. There is the speaker, a USB-C to USB-A cable, carabiner, and a quick start guide. Also there is a picture of the speaker in relation to a pop can for reference. It is very small. The speaker came with a 70% charge out of the box. The Beosound is rated for 27 hours on a full charge. I fully charged the speaker. I have used it for about 3 hours so far and there is still 87% charge left.
It was easy to set up the speaker. My Android phone recognized the Beosound right away and prompted me to download the app. You download the app and complete the set up. It was really cool how Bang & Olufsen managed the EQ settings. I have seen manufacturers manage this in many different ways. This was the simplest approach I have ever seen. There are preset listening modes (see picture). Click on the circle and you see Relaxed, Warm, Energetic and Bright (see picture). You use your finger to slide and select the setting you want. Do this while your audio is playing so you can hear the change is sound to make it perfect to you. Right = high treble and high bass. Left is low treble and low bass. This is pure brilliance. And the sound is FANTASTIC. I cannot believe how clear and loud this speaker is. Are you going to get mind thumping bass, of course not. Look at how small it is. Will you get good and clear sound across the spectrum, most definitely.
I rate this 5 out of 5 stars. This speaker is small and very durable. The included carabiner and attached strap make it easy to transport. You will not be disappointed.

This speaker is what you’d expect for something this size. I enjoy collecting and using speakers of all sizes and am an outdoorsy type person that believe music should be available in all situations. The size is small and portable and has been good for battery life so far, its supposed to get 27 hours which I have yet to push it that far. I also like the USB C charger option as its one less obstacle I have to worry about when charging, unlike my other speakers which are micro-usb.
It is beautifully crafted with a premium feel. However, for being shock proof and claiming to take a beating it seems too nice of a product. Most rugged and water resistant products are lined with some sort of protection that typically can absorb impacts, but the nice aluminum finish looks like it’ll get damaged easily even though it claims to be scratch resistant. That concern aside, I think its great that a premium speaker can handle the downsides of a portable lifestyle! Adding to the premium look and feel, it has a nice weight to it. I associate a heavy weight (not too heavy) product with quality, cheap lightweight-speakers usually don’t have that premium or long-lasting sound.
The next thing I judge a speaker by is sound level, aka how powerful it is. Even for a smaller speaker, I expect a good level of sound that can clearly protrude general noises and conversations without distortion. I would rate this speaker a 3.5/5 for power level. I would test it out in my garage while working in a partially enclosed area and max volume wasn’t too loud which I find slightly disappointing. I would even go down the driveway and it was moderately acceptable. Can’t expect too much from a personal size speaker, but its one of the criteria I still measure a speaker by.
Overall, it’s one of the more premium looking and feeling speakers I’ve ever owned, and having 360 degree sound is a great design feature. Pairing was super quick and easy, it came with a USB cable but not the charging block to plug into, but that seems to be the norm these days. I would rate the speaker the 4.5/5 stars and would be a great gift for anyone.

SUMMARY: The Bang & Olufsen Beosound Explore (‘B&O Explore’ from this point forward) will NEVER be a bad choice. The bass can use some work. BUT, it feels great in the hand, aesthetically very cool to look at, it’s easy to set up, it sounds great to the ears, the volume goes quite high before there is any distortion, the battery power lasts remarkably long, and it is amazingly rugged. It also sounds great through the gamut of music genres (read below about bass).
I use this with an iPad Air 2nd gen (iPadOS 14.8), as well as an iPhone 11 PRO (iOS 14.8). Setup using the app is self-explanatory and very quick. The app isn’t bad; sometimes it does become unpaired from the iDevice, and it’s frequent enough to be a minor nuisance. Luckily, it happens when you start using it, instead of during playback. I know B&O like to keep it simple, but the app is extremely boring to look at; like reading a newspaper because it’s literally black and white. The B&O Beosound Explore allows you to take your music to places, and in conditions, that you couldn’t previoiusly take a Bluetooth speaker. It’s made for adventure because it’s rugged and water-resistent and design-forward. The app needs to be exciting like the product it controls.
I’ve taken this hiking a few times, once where I was out the entire day in the middle of nowhere, playing music at 50%+ volume, and it lasted the entire 8-ish hours with battery power to spare. I would not have expected that at all, since the volume was at 50% or a bit more. The B&O Explore battery charges quickly via USB-Type C. It was drizzling rain and chilly, and it sat there on a picnic bench while I grilled out with my kids. It feels very well-made. The size is awesome, because it’s easy to pack. The carabiner that comes with, and the nylon loop, is great to hang it on a backpack or a thicker tree branch. The bottom is somewhat rubberized, because it did not slide off of smooth surfaces. It is shipped with a silicone ‘cap’ for the top (controls) and the bottom (Type-C plug).
I’ve tried most genres of music with the B&O Explore; it performs extremely well. The bass only becomes an issue if you are listening to rock or rap music that is bass-intensive. BASS-INTENSIVE; in general, it handles bass very well. At that point, you understand the limitation of the unit, as you hear the bass ‘bottom out’; that is, it gets to a point where the unit can no longer reproduce the amount / frequency of bass, and begins to distort. On a very positive note about the bass ‘bottoming out’, instead of becoming an utterly distorted mess, the bass very discernably and cleanly just cuts off. I say this is a positive thing because if I’m listening to a song and the speaker can’t handle the bass, it is very desirable to continue listening to clear-sounding music, versus the bass distortion. I’ve never heard that from any speaker in my life, and I do wonder if that ‘feature’ was intentional by Bang & Olufsen…if it was, I thank you for that. There are competitors that make a BT speaker of similar size that handles the bass a bit better, but I can’t take them hiking in the rain; I would no doubt opt for the latter.

Excellent purchase – sound quality is amazing. Used it on vacation at the beach and it was a big hit!
Alexthepal –
Great clear Bang and Olfson sound! Durable too. Somtimes sound feels a little diffrent depending on placement but all in all definitely a good buy if you care about durability and sound clarity.
TomB –
Excellent sound from such a small speaker. Very well made. Especially great sound when 2 are paired for stereo sound. Extremely easy to connect. The sound as as good as the Beolit20.
Highly recommend over other Bluetooth speakers.
DARTHVADER2517 –
It’s an alright speaker not worth $200 though. The quality is nice but the sound is lacking.
ElDude13 –
this little thing is made out of some great materials and has a very slick design. i was shocked and amazed at how small this turned out to be but man does it get loud, BUT it doesnt have that much kick/ bass. not for large parties but great for small get togethers or taking for a hike. the battery definitely lasts a nice amount
Gift –
The gift was well received and enjoyed by recipient

I was surprised at the ease of setting up this speaker. Has plenty of volume and also has great fidelity at lower listening levels.
MTONEY007 –
Great buy and definitely worth buying. I use it on my screened in porch and love it.
jrett –
This speaker is great! Very well built, feels solid, produces amazing sound, has a long battery life, USB-C charging, and a very well designed app to go along with it!
WarEagle –
Plenty of power for a speaker that is just a little bigger than a beer can

Excellent headphones . One of the best headphones ever. Great sound
Alright –
The sound is clean being a audiophile person it is hard listening to bad speakers. Just why? It is wee bit heavy for size which be pro and con. Overall good build quality.
OIIIIIO –
This is a great sounding little speaker. Don’t let the size fool you it’s a solid heavy speaker. Nice natural sound but what else would you come to expect from B&O
TheGoodDoctor –
Little bitty speaker, great big quality sound. Works just as intended. Is it a little pricey? Yes. But go ahead, you’re worth it.
Johnwick –
Sadly this speaker doesn’t live up to the Bang & Olufsen name. Sounds good at 40% volume or less
Anything above that sounds distorted and like a cheap speaker from TjMaxx.
Absolute –
The song is a bit disappointing for such a premium product and brand.
Marlowe –
Good sound and very well built. The exterior case is durable like the name says. Good sound can be difficult for small speakers, but this B&O does a good job.
Bela –
Bought this on clearance so i got a real value. Good sound, solid build. Will be used extensively at the pool and beach.
Mandylee917 –
Strong speaker. The sound carries well and fills a room. Heavy duty feeling so i dont feel like im going to damage it by simple use alone.
ThomasK –

Miong –

DanielC –
This small speaker is great. Clear sound, lightweight, build quality two thumbs up!
GretchenC –
Excellent quality! Got mine on deep sale and was well worth it. $250 may be a bit high but it’s an excellent Bluetooth speaker.
Bowzaa –
The sound is incredible! I love it. Not a lightweight speaker!
JodyK –
Although a tad heavy for the size, B&O has done it again in such a small package. The speaker is clear with great highs, mids, and surprisingly good bass. What sold me was the portability and waterproof rating….along with being able to take a tumble down a cliff and work like it did right out of the box. The carabiner hook is good and helps attaching it to any bag. The sound is excellent, the Bluetooth range is quite nice and the battery will last 2 full days. If you find this on a sale like I did, SNAP IT UP! You won’t regret. Better than any JBL, Bose, UE, or similar speakers. It’s about the size of a canned soda, but twice as heavy.
AndreaPaulC –
Amazingly clear sound! You can hear the music from every side! No distortion of sound! Easily controls on the App!
Shaggy –
This is quality built and the brand is great. I wish the bass was more prevalent.
AustinS –

Dsell –

AdanV –
Amazing Sound in a Small Package! This speaker exceeded all expectations in terms of durability, sound fidelity and versatility. I’ve previously purchased Bose portable speakers and these blow them out of the water.
CynthiajW –
Very good sound and great quality! I recommend this product
Rockman –
Great portable bluetooth speaker. Simple, tough, beautiful and with great sound.
Messiking1981 –
Best portable speaker I’ve ever had, it’s fell on me, got soaked and is still going. Even though it isn’t water proof, and this happened 8 months ago. It still gives me that clear crisp sound that make B&O the brand it is.
JoshJ –
Excellent product got very lucky and found it for 35% mark down I’ve traveled with it for the past year and it has worked well going thru airports
JosephG –
Sounds great. It has the best tones. B&O is as good as Bose
