Catman –
The phone is awesome! It does everything you need it to do. Similar to a business phone but for home use with all the features. Definitely a plus because it has speakerphone built in. The orange background light comes on when needed so you can see the information.

Large easy to read numbers and message board. Swapped over our old handpiece so to use our longer cord.
JackieB –
Purchased this phone due to our hearing impairment and allows for callers to leave messages on phone when needed.

The best phone and the price is very reasonable. I had an identical one for years and the power adapter went. I kept looking for the same phone and found it at Best Buy. Went to the store, very nice worker ordered it online for me, was delivered the very next day. Very pleased customer
Xmas –
Outstanding phone very easy to work for the elderly

This is easy to set up and works well. I would buy this unit again.
WilliamN –
Perfect for my small business transitioning from a VOIP system to a simpler single landline. Nothing too fancy, but It has everything I need including a built in answering system, caller ID and speaker phone. Voice transmission quality is s fine. I have been using the phone daily for over a month without encountering any problems.
TNAngel –
Replacement phone for one that died. Easy to use for those not necessarily “electronic savvy”. Big everything! No glasses needed!
Dawn –
This phone is great for my 92 year old father. He is able to operate it easily and can see the numbers and text because of the size of each.
Smurfette –
This phone is great for seniors who wear hearing aids. The volume is extremely loud and that works for my dad because he don’t like to wear them.
JoeS –
good working phone I use it all the time.Does a good job.
ironhead –
Works great!
This phone has all the features of a cordless phone but still works when we lose power.
StarlightEnid2022 –
Really like the phone, hard to find a land line these days. Had another just like it for several years.

NEEDED ….. NEEDED ….. NEEDED ….. NEEDED ….. NEEDED …..
JamesC –
It is difficult to find a home phone that is wall mounted, with a large digital display, a digital answering machine, ease of use and looking good. The AT&T CL4940 has all these features plus more. Instructions for use have to be read carefully. Some instructions are a little confusing. For a reasonable price you can’t go wrong with this phone.
ToddK –
Pretty good for the price. I needed something to replace my other landline business phone, and it suits the purpose. Not crazy about the Reader’s Digest sized buttons, but otherwise, easy to program, record your voice message, and clarity is good.
Louise –
phone works good , but clock on it loses time 10 minutes
DennisM –
Works great just like my other phone like this. Display is big and easy to read and I have hearing aids so I use the “SPEAKER” function ALL THE TIME.
BobH –
Land line phones are scarce these days, and this one gets the job done. The big buttons and big display are good for those of us whose vision isn’t what it used to be. However, the sound quality is poor. The phone needs to be plugged into an electrical outlet, so it’s not easy to move around while talking. All in all, a good, but not great, product
DeborahH –
My new At&t desk phone is perfect. I work remotely and needed a new desk phone and this one was great choice. The keys are large and the display is bright.
user783800 –
The phone just didn’t work period I won’t be buying anything from Best Buy again money is to hard to come by
Durian1 –
This is quite a reasonably good phone and easy to use
MordechaiS –
It is a very good product, and very reasonably priced.

Great phone with a large numbers and LCD display screen.
aZ17 –
Works very well. We like it as it offers the option to see the number of the incoming call as we get many spam calls.
DEET –
Got this for a 90 year old aunt who did not want a cellular phone. It was easy to add names and numbers, has a large digital display, good volume, and clear buttons to retrieve messages quickly. It has all the features needed for the purpose.
DeltaDelta –
Looked great coming out of the box. I got it set up but after 5 rings a caller gets a busy signal instead of being picked up by the answering machine. I email ATT for help and gave them the model #. I got a ‘boiler plate’ response that had no reference to my specific model or problem. I called their 800# and got a recording saying they’d get back to me in a day or two. 24+ hours later and no response. Customer service is non-existent. I’m returning it.
JeffreyG –
excellent devise for me. The various features are just what I needed
JudyFulmoreGamble –
It was for my elderly family member who needed the big numbers on the phone. She was very pleased with it and loves it. Just what she needed, and I have already recommended it for other family members and friends who have problems with their eyes.
JanaD –
Perect desk phone for our home office going back to a land line.
KathrynK –
I want to commend the assist of Geek Squad agent Michael Peters for setting up my AT&T land line phone I bought from Best Buy. It works beautifully. I love Orr. Thank you, K Karrer.
JohnK –
Great for someone not able to deal with the features of some of the newer cordless devices. Also you never can lose the handset because it is attached to the phone!
CindyV –
Old timers in need of a corded phone! Just what we needed. Easy to hook up and easy to use
ElaineW –
Needed for use with headset for hearing-impaired person.
user543180 –

The Size of the Numeric/Alpha Buttons are Great, But the Function Buttons Need Improvement Especially for Senior Use…
Unknown –
Great phone/answering machine with big display and big buttons to see better.
TammyZ –
Great description of functions of phone. Easy to setup.
JayN –
It is great in screening calls. Back lite so easy to see and that is exactly what I wanted.
BeccaH –
I couldn’t get this phone to work with Xfinity. I tried one time too many.
Georg –
Just what I needed for my home office, since my local “former” baby bell doesn’t offer voice mail in my area this phone checks all the boxes! With easy check out it arrived before the estimated delivery date!
MarkA –
Great phone. I’m 70 and the bright display and memory option for frequently called #s like family, grandkids and Walgreens is extremely convenient. ♥️
BestMan –
Works great. The big screen is very helpful. The big numbers as well.I do recommend this landline phone.
BernadetteG –
Old fashioned type of phone, yes, but perfect for a 92 year old person! Easy to use and learn. Convenient for checking msgs remotely. Great buy!
user245598 –
printed instructions didn’t work, unable to reach anyone by phone!
FrankA –
This was bought for a friend who relies on “old tech.” His old landline phone kept dropping calls, and it was driving me mad, so I bought this as a Chanukah gift. He LOVES it. He can easily see the display which thrills him, and he can complete a long phone call without having to continually call back.
KathleengR –
The “community review” says this is also a wall phone. The phone is fine on a table but it it not a wall phone. Despite the openings for the wall hookup, the receiver will not stay in the cradle. It has nothing to hook onto. The little plastic piece included does not “grab” it enough to hold it in place. As a table model, it’s fine. For a wall phone, try a different model
ArtD –
This is my third iteration of this model phone, as I’ve replaced them (due mainly to the LCD screen failing) over the past, hmm, 15 years.
Not much has changed in the quality, design, or feature set. I’m even still using the same wall mount screws lol.
I s’pose this model would still work with land lines (haven’t had one of those for quite some time LOL); I use it for VOIP connections to Vonage and Google. Works great.
Note: the older ones still worked as phones when I retired them… it’s just that the segments on the various digits start to fail after several years, and I finally get tired of squinting lol.
StevenM –
I really like the phone with the large keys, a readable screen and being white, I have no problem seeing everything. I went blind in one eye last year and unable to see much of anything that is black on black. The only thing that I don’t like is the hand device as it is somewhat slippery.
