JLee –
This is a fantastic “upper middle class” 4K bluray player. I needed something that had Dolby Vision, as my budget Sony player didn’t cut it. This hasn’t disspointed me. It even has a USB port on the front to play video files. I also love the panel on the front flips down to hide all the controls/tray.

Very good product good pictures quality nice sounds

Read many reviews before buying this model and am very happy with my purchase.
Sonofjack –
Nice sleek looking machine, haven’t been able to enjoy yet but can’t wait
LuvMovies –
Good but does not stream 4k on certain services. This is an issue with the streaning services, not the DVD player. I had to purchase a Roku for that.
Kayef –
Wow! What a huge upgrade from my previous movie players. I used to have to resort to my PS5 and Xbox Series X to play my 4K blu rays. This completely changed the game for me though. It really brings out the sharpest picture to my Samsung television and once I connected my soundbar to this player, it was game over. Can’t ever go back to a video game console to play my 4K blu rays.
TalesCollector –
Pros: Excellent Tone Mapping, Dolby Vision, Analog outputs for 7.1 systems, Separate HDMI output for audio, Hi-Res CD player, there’s a lot to love about this player
Cons: Expensive (for me)

This blu-ray player changed my movie watching experience for life.
Devdogg –
My only gripe would be the remote. Wish it was more universal. Besides that, its awesome.
SteveH –
Excellent HD DVD player, needs high quality HDMI sends great picture – streaming a plus – would be better if user could add additional streaming services. Netflix Prime and YouTube TV a plus not upgradable to Hulu or Plex
encinitassci –
Very nice picture on TV. I have not see 4K disks images presented better by any other DVD player.
Ardbell –
High quality 4k Blu-Ray player. Upconverts 1080p to 4k, flawlessly. Great picture quality, has built in Apps, but they a little slow. Lots of settings for your TV, from TV’s that are OLED, down to projectors. Awesome user interface.
Cheddemier –
This unit was easy to install, basically up and running within 10 minutes. The menus are intuitive and deep as you want or you can just use the easy setup feature and quickly follow the prompts.
The picture with 4K disks is first class without stuttering or artifacts, and upscaling of Blu-ray near flawless. It’s a visible improvements over streaming because a player can supply your receiver or TV with far more data than your Internet or cable provider can. Although you’ll see the difference where it’s really noticeable is the audio!! For reasons unknown all streaming services compress the audio channels and we miss out on the movie theater experience. Using a Blu-ray or 4K disk allows you to hear it the way it was recorded; this might not be as important if you’re watching it on a computer screen with little pc speakers but for anyone with a home entertainment system it’s a must. 4K audio is massive and this Panasonic unit delivers!
Grab it on sale and it’s a steal and worth every cent!
THETOY –
No issues at all so far i love it this is my 2nd player the other i have had a few years and it rums well they both are great
Boomer592 –
Plays 4K vision/atmos movies. It’s all I’ve ever dreamed.
Halfrican –
Perfectly fine playback quality, however the build quality is very low, the packaging weighs nearly as much as the player itself. If build quality isn’t a priority, this is a fantastic player for the money.
Grits –
Be prepared to be WOWED by 90% of your discs…
Also be prepared for 10% of your discs that work great on other players to freeze up and skip for no apparent reason.
WAY too much money for something that doesn’t work 100% of the time.
AlexG –
very satisfied with the bluray player. only downside is the remote
CVilla –
So far im very impressed with the quality of the player. Processing performance from this 4K player is astounding, features such as dolby vision are the cherry on top. Cannot recommend the Panasonic UB-820 enough.
Lucas –
Picked this up when it was discounted for Black Friday. Best player on the market for the price!
denrbld –
Awesome picture and the upscaling of standard BluRay has to be seen.
Teebo1 –
Great Playback ,clarity and sound waiting for a small update that could give a 5 this panel display will not go away unless you pull plug out the back!!!!
IsaacF –
Hdr and Dolby vision works, hav,t used the apps but Blu-ray playback is flawless

I’m taking a star off the review only because my first attempt at getting one didn’t go so smoothly: I went with an Open Box – Excellent condition ub820 at first. After it was delivered, I was only able to get one 4K playback use out of it before it ceased reading any 4K discs. I’m sure not all open box versions of this are subject to this issue, but it’s something to be aware of. I exchanged it the day after it was delivered and promptly ordered a brand new one for not much more than the open box price. That unit has had zero issues since I’ve hooked it up, handles 4K discs beautifully. Not having to turn Dolby Vision on and off is really nice, and audio output is exceptional (I would argue that I can hear noticeable differences in audio when compared to my ps5’s disc player and yes, I had atmos set up on the ps5 too). If you enjoy still watching and collecting physical media and if it’s within your budget to pick one up l, you won’t regret it.
ASR101 –
Excellent player it handles all of my discs. No freezing issues unlike my Previous Sony XM-800M2. Picture and sound are great
JohnE –
The picture looks good but so far the sound separation on my surround speakers are shining more than before. The player have me looking for more DVDs. Very satisfied with my purchase.
ChickenToad34 –
This 4k Blu-Ray player is excellent. Reading the disc is quiet and fast, while the video and audio quality are superb.
NENative –
Overall excellent. One title had audio dropout issues that were resolved by connecting directly to the AV Receiver instead of routing through the TV then to the AVR. All other titles played without issue regardless of connection method. Bought this after returning a Sony unit with consistent freezing issues.
DouglasW –
The Panasonic Blu-Ray is awesome. I can play my DVD’s as well as Blu-Ray’s. I can play CD’s as well on it but since I have a separate CD player I don’t require it for that purpose. I am getting great picture quality from everything that I play on it.
CoffeeGrinder –
The UB820 is the most solid 4K player ive used. Came from a sony x300m1 so didnt have dolby vision. But the interface for the UB820 seems more modern and is easier to navigate.
HappyOrlandoCustomer –
This year 2023 I bought the best OLED Samsung S95C and realized I needed a much better UHD Blu-ray player to complement my system. Works seamlessly with my tv, SamsungQ990C soundbar and Apple TV. Very happy to have a complete and reasonably priced high end home entertainment system.
AceDriver –
Oldie but goodie! Really the best for the money sans the UB9000. Some specialty players exist; Magnetar but this is a more realistic option. UI and App support are dated but it really has no direct competition for 4k UHD Disk playback.
MichaelC –
The quality of the product is really good. I recommend it.
Mike550 –
Sadly, I experienced problems, initially it would freeze while playing multiple discs, requiring the power cable being pulled to restart. Then it finally completely refused to load any disc. Normally Panasonic made high quality products, so I guess I was unfortunate.
DaleT –
Well build excellent picture quality. Easy to use!
BigD –
Easy installation SPECTATCULAR picture.
I love the user friendly menu.
EricH –
Movies look amazing through this player. Very high quality.
Easy to use, good remote and menus.
RonE –
Excellent player, with plenty of features. Just remember to look up the manual on line first and go to page 9. This page lists the playable file and media type you can play. This player can play quite a few media file types, but not all.
sininspira –
Yes, the player makes a difference. If you have a nice OLED TV and a top-line soundbar or AVR system, you’ll want more than an Xbox/PS5 to take advantage of Dolby Vision and uncompressed HD codecs.
IsraelR –
I like how great is thequality for the 4ks stunning picture and great sound
Sean –
I have not set up this Blu-Ray player yet. However, I know Panasonic’s reputation. I own Panasonic camera’s to Televisions. All great quality! The top end Panasonic Blu-ray player is now the new bench, and this is only one model / step below. Also, it was a VERY good price.
Papajack –
I bought a Samsung QN90C TV and a Q900C sound bar. My Oppo-205 was bought in 2017. I was wondering if there was a 4K player that was better than my OPPO. I came across this 4K player. I took it home and was amazed at the improved picture and sound. I am rewatching my 4K collection and others.
Based on reviews, I would purchase 4K movies, and with my OPPO, it would be good, but not the WOW. This player gave me the WOW I was looking for. The sound is a bonus. I broke out my 4K Games of Thrones and the night battle in Season 8, Episode 3. It is amazing.
Go buy this big boy.
My only complaint is the people who use the streaminng apps on this player then complain. Use the same apps on your TV. They always play better.
KJ417 –
I don’t have any other 4k Ultra HD Blu-ray players to compare this to but I think it works great with my Sony TV. I specifically chose this version because it has the display on the front which shows the current runtime of the movie you’re watching.
I had been using a Panasonic Blu-ray player which was purchased in 2011 with my old TV. I only upgraded to this since I bought a 4k TV and wanted to watch Ultra HD Blu-rays. I like that the remote for this new player looks very similar to my old remote.
I wish it was a little cheaper, but that’s my only complaint.
Unknown –
Best 4K UHD blu-ray player currently on the market. With the Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision features, theres nothing this machine can’t do.
LeatherNeck –
Excellent UHD player for the money. Good performance and good 4k output. Lots of output options.
Kforter –
The convenience of having instant dolby vision toggle and having the hdr optimizer for movies that dont support dolby vision make hdr 10 look so much better. Definitely worth the money.
CharlesC –
Excellent quality and price! Worked perfectly in my media room.
StuartH –
Using this with a 65″ LG 65C3PUA and a Klipsch/Denon Atmos surround setup, and it’s better than going to the theater. This player will auto switch to Dolby Vision, while others either lack Dolby Vision or you have to manually select it over the regular UHD10. Fantastic sound and picture quality. Great audio decoding if you still have a CD collection or a USB thumbdrive full of music. Seperate audio and video outputs if you have the equipment to take advantage of that.
TroyV –
This is by far the best Blu Ray player I’ve ever owned. The picture is beautiful and it handles pretty much any format available. It does a great job upscaling non 4K discs.
TBaker –
This is simply the best 4k blu ray player one can buy. I highly recommend. My only complaint is that the remote is sort of cumbersome, but you can get used to it.
