I got this for my new 2020 M1 Mac Mini, largely for the SD card slots and the headphone jack on the front. The extra USB ports on the front are just icing on the cake. I like the contrast between the Space Gray / Black of this hub and the silver of the M1. The headphone jack does support headsets with microphone, so is ever so much more convenient to be able to leave the speakers plugged in on the back, and use the front one for when I need headset.

Works well, I notice that it gets hot if you leave a USB Stick in it and the Mac mini is in sleep mode. I’m trying to find out why this is happening. I now have the unit sitting above the mini on the desktop stand to keep the heat away from the Mini. Other than the heat issue it works great and mounts USB and SD cards fast.

Is a great product. Does what it says just a bit outdated. Need to add a hd connector and it will be great for me. Had to return it for this reason. Otherwise good for anyone who is only looking for a usb-c hub.

Great Product and perfect fit for my Mac Mini….. but now that I am using my personal camera again, the SD card reader doesn’t work and it is very tight fit (restrictive) for the SD card to go into the slot and shouldn’t take to much force to even go into the slot (yes it is facing the correct way and yes it is the correct spot). With this being said, it is of course past my 30 days of exchanging it and really bothersome. One last opinion not much of an issue when using the Mac Mini built in speakers it does damper the volume of the Mac Mini’s already mild sound output. Overall the product is great just wish I would have a working SD card reader.

The Satechi type c aluminum stand and hub for Apple Mac mini 2018 works with the 2020 M1 very well. My only qualm with this hub is that the usb c port can only charge my M1 iPad Pro (due to power requirements I’ve been told), not transfer data. It works well with my iPhone 12, however. Overall I highly recommend this hub!

Thought I would have better access for external hardware. Just plugging in the one thunderbolt connection slowed my internet speed to around 1.5 from 13.5. Can’t have that!

This is a must have for anyone with a Mac Mini and portable drives/media. The SD and Micro SD card slots are amazing and save me from having to use a USB card reader. Fast transfers as well. This dock also leaves almost all of the rear ports open to use for more permanent USB devices. I highly recommend this to anyone!

This is a great add-on for the Mac Mini M1! The fit and function are perfect! I do wish that Best Buy carried the version in silver(I don’t care, but my wife wants one and she wants it to match the color of the Mac mini). I also wish that they carried the version with built in housing for M2.0 SSD drive. But this is what they have and I’m happy with it(I’ll just have to find one in silver somewhere for my wife). It does what it supposed to do and I am very happy with my purchase!

Contrary to an earlier post, this item does NOT work with the M1 version of the Mac mini. Drives plugged into it got power, but would not be read by the Mac. The SD card reader is extremely tight, but doesn’t read the card anyway. Tried everything, sending it back.

If you have a Mac mini, this product is a no brainer. Only thing that is a down point of my Mac mini is all the ports in the back. This also adds SD and micro SD readers on the front that the Mac mini does not have. The only downside I could see is if you are trying to save maximum space this adds about an inch of height. For me like I said this is a no brainer and I hope apple takes some notes for the new Mac mini redesign.

I was hoping I could plug in my iPad Pro into the USB-C to use the side car function but couldn’t connect via wired connection. Also wouldn’t charge the iPad, and the USB’s wouldn’t charge my phone. The SD card reader works fine and USB do read data fine. Just didn’t get the use out of it as I was hoping.

I bought this hub and really liked it – great looks, convenient size, and port selection; but I ended up returning it due to the increase of my Mac Mini’s temp. Granted it was during the heat of the summer, but the increase was quite noticeable. I opted to exchange it for the larger Display Port Stand by the same company (Satechi). Maybe it was just my Mac Mini and the work I was doing that caused the heat increase – I’m not sure. I’d still recommend this hub because of its pros.

My Take:
I am very happy with the Satechi Type-C Aluminum Stand and Hub. It is a great way to add extra connectivity to my Mac Mini and it looks great doing it. The only real downside is the price, but I think it is worth it for the quality and features that you get.
I would definitely recommend this product to anyone who is looking for a way to expand the connectivity of their Mac Mini. It is a well-made and versatile product that will last for years to come.

I appreciate the extra ports, but the USB C port on the front does not connect to my iPhone. I had to use the port in the back which was a hassle. It does charge my other devices (magic mouse and track pad), but apparently is not the right wattage to charge or connect to my iPhone. Other than that, I’m happy with it.

Great addition to Mac Mini M2. Added USB in the front is a must for copying photos to USB thumbdrive, my wirelsee keyboard dongle, and leaving rear ports on back of Mac for back up drives. Was not really worried about speed as noted by some reviewers. I looked at convience more than performance. Would have preferred getting the Silver finish, but BB did not offer. Space Grey is a bit of a contrast but compliments the Silver Mac Mini and black desk. One note, for some reason the SD card inserts upside down, contact side up. Not sure if this is by design or a manufacturing error. I am going to try and contact Satechi about this and will update review if I get a response. The other ports are a bit snug so be careful when inseting, but hopefully they will get better after use. If yoi don’t need internal storage save yourself $20 and buy this one over the other Satechi dock with built in hard drive space. I already had a 1 TB external drive for Time Machine and data backup.
